Catherina wrote a few days ago to say Jackie has not been well even after repeated visits to the vet.  Catherina writes:Jackie is still not well.  I really do not know what is going wrong with her.  I am sad to see her condition now.  She used to be active and playful.  But now she has no energy, and very lethargic.  My fav vet is not around for more than a week.  The available vet cant help much.  She had heavy breathing at 1st, was on...

Oh Gosh...would You Believe That?
18th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare

I was lining the Blueys' litter box with old newspapers when I chanced upon reading a short report about what is called a "Python Bath". Apparently, a Bidayuh girl was born "abnormal". She had a frail and soft body and moved like a snake. It was known that her father liked to hunt pythons and would eat them as well. So the "elders" proposed that the girl bathed with a python. They believed the father of the girl had offended the Python Spirit. After the "Python Bath", the girl bec...

The Science Is In; It's Time To End Animal Testing
17th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare

From Humane Society International:Did you know that every year more than 100 million animals suffer and die in testing laboratories worldwide? Cats, dogs, monkeys, rabbits, and mice -- to name a few -- are bred, injected, infected, cut open, genetically altered and forced to eat drugs and chemicals for science and safety testing. To make matters worse, animals often react differently than people to chemicals and medicines, opening the results to question -- or even being written off as irrelevant...

A Chained-Up Rottweiler Puppy In Melaka
17th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare

I received this a few days ago, from Tati Ambia:I was informed by a college student from KL today who was in Malacca in February and last month for holidays. She stayed at a hotel and behind the hotel there was a row of shop houses. One small Rotweiller puppy was chained in front one of the shops and is left there with no food or water, under the rain and son. The chain is very short, so the puppy cannot move around and is standing on his own poo or urine. She tried to take pics with her phone, ...

17th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare

Indy upstairs, Blueys downstairs...and there is peace. No wonder the vet says they are all muscle - always working out on the jungle gym!Turn off the flash! Turn off the flash! Our eyes are prettier than that! Yesterday's game was "push the plastic spoons around". I've noticed kittens love playing with plastic spoons.Bagheera seems to be the more independent one.She would even come all the way back into the room to take a nap while Baloo sleeps on Uncle Bobby on the favourite chair in t...

Bernice's 4 Furkids
17th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare

Very often, people tell me they "dare not" read the stories in my blog because they don't want to see the frightening photos or read the sad stories. I tell them they cannot simply assume that just because we provide medical care for animals, it has to contain frightening stories and sad stories. And I think they must have confused us with other websites, too, because we do focus positive stories quite often, don't we?Well, here's one, from Bernice Chee:I read about Vixey and how you said she is...

Indy's Homecoming!
16th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare

For the last few days, Indy had chosen a dumper on the street as his home. As you know, he's been very upset with the Blueys and I think he's also in a cold war with either Pole or someone else. So he migrated out from the house, gave up his place in the porch and lived in the neighhour's house. This has gone on for about 2-3 weeks now, and every day, I've been hunting him down to bring him back home.Well, two days ago, he started coming home on his own, which is an occasion for celebration. &nb...

Khoo Beng Kai's updates:Just now around 9pm plus as I was setting up a newly bought 3-tier cage for TenTen, unknowingly Wangzhi came in and was watching behind me. Then I quickly asked Meiji to give him some wet food. He seems to has a very good appetite finishing almost half canned of Evo wet food (full can size is 13.2oz). Overall I can see Wangzhi is not jovial like before. Maybe the jaw wire is bothering him. I am also thinking of taking him to the vet for ...
