Tulipspet Cat-Spraying Control? 22nd Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
I've been dealing (and living!) with a major cat-spraying problem ever since I began fostering kittens and Cow & Bunny had to make their presence smelt!I've tried many kinds of recommended treatments including commercial sprays but none have been able to conquer Cow & Bunny incessant and insistent spraying.Yesterday, Amy recommended that I try this...From what I understand, it breaks down existing urine stains. What's best about it is that it's 100% biodegradable and is bio-enzymatic.&nb...

The Blueys, Indy And Bobby News! 21st Oct 2011, by AnimalCare

A Special Offer For Dogfood (for Meiji) 21st Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
Hi Folks,I know this is a bit early this time as we have just sent a consignment of dogfood to Meiji on 29th September, but I've just been offered a really good deal of RM65 per pack (as per our 3rd dogfood donation to Meiji earlier this year). The company is offering a special promotion, so I thought since Meiji needs dogfood every month, we might as well make full use of this opportunity and capitalise on the lower price to get more value for money. If you'd like to donate to buy dogfood...

Visiting Ah Fatt's Cat 21st Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
Ah Fatt sent this market cat to the vet about a week ago as she was having fever and looked really sickly. The cat was put on drips and the next day, appeared to have recovered and was eating, too. However, after a few days, the cat went down again, and now has to be put on drips pending further investigation. We will subsidise 50% of the cost of treatment.Get well soon, Kitty!

Macy, Dog For Adoption (Theresa Indra's) 21st Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
From Theresa Indra (theresa.indra@yahoo.com):I wrote to you concerning two dogs that I rescued about one and half months ago. Both were actually adopted. But I made a surprise visit to one of the homes and was disappointed that Macy was abused, starved and chained on a short leash to a swing.I have sinced nursed her back to health and is now a feisty 4 month old pup. However I am unable to keep her as I have two dogs of my own and cannot handle the additional responsibility. It is also very taxi...

3-Month Old Puppy For Adoption (Adeline Boey's) 21st Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
From Adeline Boey (adeline_brf@yahoo.com):Hi Dr Chan, I was wondering if you can assist to feature this cute pup in your blog? He was malnourished when my husband and I first fostered him a month ago. Now, he has been "fattened" up and ready for adoption. The initial plan was to let him bond with my other two dogs. If things go well with them, then we will consider adopting him. Unfortunately, my "elder" dog couldn't mingle with him. If I put all three of them together unsupervise...

The Case In Ohio (dozens Of Wild Animals Shot Dead By Authorities) 21st Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
In case you have not heard, here it is: http://www.peta.org/b/thepetafiles/archiv e/2011/10/19/at-least-two-dozen-dead-in-ohio.aspx? utm_source=PETA&utm_medium=E-News&utm_camp aign=Dozens%2BDead%2Bin%2BOhioWHY must people do such things?Leave the wild animals alone; they belong in their natural habitat. Not in zoos, not in sanctuaries, not in circuses, not in our houses. They belong to Nature. I'm still reeling in shock and sadness over the gassing of the cat (and other shelte...

What's Wrong, Bobby? (and More Bluey Stories) 21st Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
Since about 4am this morning, Bobby has been pacing non-stop. Bobby sleeps with us every night, and husband says he thinks Bobby couldn't get up (maybe due to his arthritis) to urinate, and he wet himself. That must have got him very upset. By the time I was awakened by all the commotion, Bobby was just turning around in circles, moving non-stop. We tried holding him and cuddling him, but he wouldn't stop. He just walked round and round at a fast pace. It was quite worrying. He went on...

The Cat Who Refused To Die 20th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
Jessy Lian shared this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article -2050819/Stray-cat-Andrea-survives-gas-chamber-Uta h-animal-shelter-twice.htmlWhile the story is "remarkable" in that this cat actually survived the gas chamber twice, I couldn't help feeling so sad that animals are gassed in these places. Whether it is by lethal injection or gas, or whatever methods that humans use to kill animals because they don't want them anymore, or they don't know what to do with them...it is so, so...

And The Blueys? 20th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
Here they are...I Frontlined them both this morning....Fuzzy, fuzzy...They didn't quite mind being sprayed this time! They love this fish scratching-pad....as a bed!We left them sleeping when we went off to meet Andy Lew at his office. I did not want to bring them along as I thought they had just been Frontlined and the travelling would add to their stress. On hindsight, we should have taken the Blueys along...it would have been fun watching them explore the office. The two are REALLY into climbing...

Getting Indy Closer To Home.... 20th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
Since my new books have been neatly piled up in the porch, we figured it would be good to "give" Indy a special place before any other cat claims it....We placed Indy in this little space after the books arrived and then we went out. When we came back, Indy was still there....!! Looks like he really likes his new spot. And by feline rules, it is HIS because he claimed it first. And all night, he has been sleeping there...most comfortably too!I know I have a long way to go in getting Indy home agai...

Visiting The Blueys' Potential Office-Home And Their New Family 20th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
Today, we went all the way to Batu Caves to visit Andy Lew and his office staff, at the office where the Blueys would be staying. It is a very beautiful office - I think it is definitely much bigger than my upstairs and downstairs put together on one floor. Very neat, very clean and conducive for bringing up cats. We met Andy, who guided us to his office from Selayang Hospital (where Ming-Yi currently works). There, we met Emily, one of Andy's staff, and also Mr Teh, the Canine Caviar ...

Reflections From My Fair Lady 20th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
This was my No. 1 (EVER) favourite movie since young and it still is. I must have watched it 30 times at least and I dare say, I probably memorised every part of the dialogue and knew exactly what's coming up next in every scene and who was going to say what.Apart from learning some better English and more correct pronunciation of this elusive language, I think I learnt many other things from this movie. On the subject of rescuing animals, allow me to draw an analogy to something that was said in...

Indy And The Blueys 20th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
Late last night, Indy came back on his own several times. I think cats can read our minds, and I'm pretty sure of that. The cat expert can use all the available scientific research to tell me I'm wrong, I don't care. Say what you want. I think cats can read our minds to a certain extent. Whenever I blow a fuse and I'm alone in my room and even as I shed my first tear, Cow would be the first person to come to me. He'll look at me, nudge his face on my leg and "ask me what is wrong". &n...

What I Did This Afternoon 19th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
I decided today I have to be fair to Indy. He has left home long enough, he has been feeling insecure long enough and it is about time I did something proactive before something tragic happens and I regret it for the rest of my life. For the uninitiated, Indy left after the Blueys came. He was jealous and still is.So, what did I do this afternoon?Indy was at the neighbour's house, on top of his car....again.Thank goodness Indy still comes to me when he's called, so I got him to come, carrie...

The Ones I Have Loved, Lost And May Be Losing... 19th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
Once in a blue moon, I blow a fuse and short-circuit. I mean me, not the fusebox. Today is such a day when I cannot take it anymore. It's called the last straw on the camel's back. And when this happens, my brain doesn't explode nor do I go on a rampage, but I'll stay in my room and cry my heart out. I know why they always advise you to have a "good cry". Crying is good. It sure is better than keeping everything bottled up and exploding later on. So I had a really GOOD cry this a...
