On The Homefront 25th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
I thought I'd be able to spend a quiet day at home and start packing for the big move, but the 5-kitten case got me out of the house. And, while I was at PAWS, I met a really techno-savvy guy who explained why I was having so much problems with my new smartphone (yes, I took THIS long to change over to a smartphone thinking I could have a better phone-camera compared to my trusty Nokia from the dinosaur era, and thinking I could have mobile network and receive emails on the go). The verdict is, ...

Found! - Fosterer For 5 Abandoned Kittens 25th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
I called Cheang immediately after receiving that phonecall from our vet and Cheang agreed to foster the 5 kittens.Cheang doesn't drive out of her "safety zone" (something I totally empathise with since I too have the worst of the worst possible sense of direction), so she asked me to send them over to PAWS and she would meet me there. So I drove to the clinic to get them...Gee...they are so cute! They looked hungry, so I thought I'd get them to PAWS first, then feed them. I asked our v...

The Blueys Are Fine And Dandy (morning Updates) 25th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
Last night, I was only able to see the photographs that Andy sent at about 10.30pm. This is no thanks to my streamyx...sigh. Ever since unifi came about, streamyx has really slackened. I'm getting unifi at my new place. Anyway, I was a bit concerned when I saw the stand-fan being put near to the table. The Blueys love to climb AND Baloo is fascinated by fan blades. Andy had told me yesterday that he was worried the air-cont might be too cold for the Blueys, so he got them a fan inste...

Updates On Mickey The Miracle 25th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
A miracle...that would be one word to describe Mickey's case. But that miracle, I believe, was caused by a few contributing factors - perseverance, never-give-up attitude, lots of tender loving care, hardwork, spiritual help and last but not least, a belief in some higher force in the universe that decides. However, we cannot simply rely on that higher force to weave its magic. We have to do the work on Earth, too. And this includes the skill of our vets, the financial contribution from our fund...

Why The Road Is So Unsafe For Kittens 25th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
Free-roaming or confined? This is a question which is debatable and I guess there would be no right or wrong. My vet recommends that all pets (including cats) be confined for their safety. He says even a large cage with enough toys for mental and physical stimulation is good enough, if one cannot wire-net one's home. He doesn't agree that cats need to be allowed to roam. That is one school of thought - safety and health (in terms of not eating rubbish or drinking drain water). The other schoo...

The Blueys' First Day In Their New Home! (photo Updates) 24th Oct 2011, by AnimalCare
I've been in sms and phone communication with Mr Teh and Andy ever since the Blueys arrived at their new office-home this morning. They are both doing well. Bagheera seems to have adjusted very quickly and is behaving as the dominant one. Mr Teh had told me earlier that Baloo appeared to be shy. Yes, Baloo IS the shy one and is also not as courageous or adventurous as Baggy. Looks like in a new environment, Baggy has claimed her dominant status! And to think Baggy is the younger one and was brou...
