Zurik’s Check-Up
5th Jul 2019, by AnimalCare

Today was Zurik’s check-up. The small amounts of fluids in the right and lung cavity remains the same with no increase. But the abdominal fluids have a slight increase. However, these fluids are spread all over interspersed in the layers of fat, so it was not possible to have them drawn out. The vet thinks it’s also too little to be drawn out (maybe only about 40ml). A tiny bit of drawn out just to check for its consistency and protein level. The consistency was thick but colourless ...

Zurik’s News
4th Jul 2019, by AnimalCare

It’s been almost a week since Zurik was discovered to have fever, jaundice and pockets of fluids in his left lung cavity and abdominal cavity (which has caused a noticeable bulge). These came unexpectedly and it took me some time to take it all in. I had thought that Zurik’s condition had stabilised but I did notice the sudden bulge in the abdomen last Monday itself, 6 days before his check-up. Although there were pockets of fluids, the vet thought it was too little to be drawn out, ...

3rd Jul 2019, by AnimalCare

If interested to adopt, please contact Lina Wong directly. Thank you. Day Day was rescued from a food court in Sunway with swollen hind leg and mange on his face. Vet advised he is about 2 years old and the wound from the leg was likely from a fight. He is now healed and we (my sister and I) have had him neutered, and he is in good condition for adoption. Day Day is very friendly, manja and loves human company. The last resort is to release him back to the street but we really hope to fin...

Zurik’s Check-Up – A Minor Setback
29th Jun 2019, by AnimalCare

We just came home from Zurik’s check-up today. There is a minor setback. Zurik’s weight was 5.0kg on the clinic scale, which is an increase of 300g from two weeks ago. However, since Monday, I’ve noticed a slight bulge in his abdomen and the vet felt this too and it felt like a bulge of liquid. The significant increase in weight is probably due to some fluid build-up. The ultrasound was done. The right lung cavity remained the same as before with no new pockets of fluids, but t...

Zurik’s Portraits
28th Jun 2019, by AnimalCare

Tomorrow is Zurik’s check-up at the vet’s.  It would be 77 days after diagnosis. Two weeks ago, we took another bold step and tapered down his steroids to 2.5mg once in two days. Tomorrow, we shall see if there is any further fluid build-up or it is status quo (as it had been for the past 56 days). I can only hope that tomorrow will be another milestone for Zurik. The RetroMAD1 scientist will also be present at tomorrow’s check-up as he has taken a keen interest in Zurik&r...

Heidi And Her Tunnel
28th Jun 2019, by AnimalCare

If you remember, after Ginger (our prime suspect, that is) sprayed massively on Heidi’s tunnel, Heidi refused to enter her tunnel again. This was after we cleaned and sunned the tunnel. So, the tunnel was left uninhabited for weeks. Until yesterday….. All it took was just to move the tunnel to a different location, and Heidi went in again, but Ginger followed suit. I think Ginger is very jealous of Heidi’s tunnel. Heidi stayed in the tunnel for a few minutes and this was fol...

Zurik Eats Cubgrub!
26th Jun 2019, by AnimalCare

It happened a few days ago, when Zurik was on top of the piano. I just tried my luck and offered him some Cubgrub along with some canned food. Zurik was interested in the Cubgrub and he licked some. That was really good, but the next time I offered, he didn’t want it anymore. So I thought it was just a one-off lucky episode. Today, I offered again – Cubgrub and canned food. Zurik was alone in his hide-out. He did not want any of the canned food at all. Went straight for the Cubgrub!...
