Mrs Wong shared this:
Two Stories of Loyal Friends and Proof Nobody Loves You Like a Dog
by Megan Drake
November 22, 2011
The love and loyalty of a good dog is well known. Recently, a report of a Hachi-like happening came from China. That was also on the heels of a similar story in California.
China
Lao Pan, a man in China whose only companion was a dog, died earlier this month at the age of 68. He left no family other than the loyal yellow dog with whom he shared his life. Once ...

Visiting Amber Horsey And Friends 23rd Nov 2011, by AnimalCare
It’s been sometime since I last saw Amber Horsey. She was one of our amputees, brought in by Joanne Lim from Klang with a bad leg. The leg was amputated and I enlisted my friend, Lydia’s help to rehabilitate Amber Horsey.
Amber Horsey has been with Lydia for many months now, and is as fit, if not fitter than any other able-bodied dogs.
Amber is also good friends with Seven, Lydia’s other rescued tripod.
According to Lydia, the two of them rule her household and even bully the r...

Pretty Mama, Spayed And Will Be Adopted (Jessy Lian’s) 23rd Nov 2011, by AnimalCare
Jessy Lian brought Pretty Mama for spaying under our sponsorship today.
Pretty Mama was brought in about 2 months ago, but found to be pregnant, so the spaying was postponed. She delivered three kittens but all of them died. Poor things, and poor Pretty Mama. Jessy said she followed her when Jessy took her kittens away to be buried and she watched them being buried. That is so sad…
But here’s the good news. Pretty Mama will be adopted after this. Someone saw her photo and says she ...

The dog was rescued last night by Koo.
Mandy Chee was the one who asked for help last night and she informed me that Eling Chan needs financial aid for the medical treatment for this rescued dog. So, this morning I texted Eling to ask the condition of the dog so that I could make an appointment at our vet’s and also to brief the vet about the condition of the dog. Eling said the dog was “ok”...

Jessy Lian rescued a small black kitten a few days ago.
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2011/11/urgent- fostereradopter-needed-for-rescued-kitten-jessy-li ans/
We have pledged our medical subsidy for this kitten, but have advised Jessy that we do not cover boarding unless the kitten requires it medically. Jessy said she would discharge the kitten once declared fit and board her elsewhere at a more affordable rate since her family does not allow her to foster anymore cats in her house.
There was a ...

A Small Panic Situation Last Night (Courage) 23rd Nov 2011, by AnimalCare
Yesterday evening, at about 8.30pm, my friend sent an S.O.S. Courage was panting and breathing heavily with her mouth open. We all know that’s not a very good sign. That started happening about two hours after her meal.
By sheer luck, our vet was still at the clinic attending to cases, so I managed to get him to ask for advice.
As reported by my friend, Courage was having shallow breathing and appeared to panting. The mouth was open. Breathing was fast. Gums was dry. 125 pants per minute. ...

The Disagreement On “community Animals” 22nd Nov 2011, by AnimalCare
As you know, in our CNRM, R stands for REHOME as well as RETURN (to colony).
We always say that REHOME is ideal, but being realistic, we know this is not always possible, so the next best option would be to return the animal to the colony it came from. The “advantages” (if it could be called that) of this would be:
1. Preserve the eco-system as all animals play a role in the ecology.
2. Prevent a “vacuum” when the animal is removed. A vacuum might cause another un-neutere...

From Soi Dog:
The Evacuation of Dog Island…
Dear Friends and Supporters of Soi Dog,
Dog Island has been a temporary refuge for hundreds of dogs displaced by the Bangkok floods. The dogs on Dog Island captured the worlds attention and have become symbolic of all the animals affected by the flooding.
The area where Dog Island is located is called Putthamonthon (often called Buddha Monthon). Putthamonthon is a huge Buddhist Temple complex in the Nakhon Pathom province of Thailand, west of B...

Ben Was Severely Diabetic (Norshidah’s) 22nd Nov 2011, by AnimalCare
While I was at my friend’s house visiting Courage, I was also helping Norshidah arrange for the burial of Ben. Nor said it cannot be cremation, and only wanted burial. I called James Kho and managed to arrange for burial today, at RM150. James went to the clinic immediately and collected the remains of Ben. Nor took care of the burial charges.
After visiting Courage, I went back to Subang Jaya to the clinic and the vet showed me Ben’s test results. He was not FIV or FeLV positive. Th...

Visiting Courage 22nd Nov 2011, by AnimalCare
At long last today, I could find time to visit Courage at my friend’s house. I asked KT Tan if he’d like to come along, and so he was there too.
In my rush, I forgot to bring my camera, so please forgive the rather blurry photos taken with my trusty old Terra Nova Nokia (yes, I got a full refund for my defective smartphone – no more smartphones for me!).
My friend wanted to first show us the X-Rays.
This is the lung X-Ray. We were worried about lung puncture as Courage had tho...

Ben Passes Away (Norshidah’s) 22nd Nov 2011, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2011/11/ben-is-unwell-agai n-norshidahs/
This morning, the vets discovered that Ben had passed away in the night. Ben was put on drips yesterday and treatment was administered.
Our only consolation is perhaps that Ben did not have to endure any prolonged suffering and he decided he would rejoin the Universal Oneness and be free and at peace now. Perhaps Ben is with his brother, Burt, now, on Rainbow Bridge.
We wish Ben a smooth journey to his next existence.
We conve...

Updates On Courage After X-Ray And Acupuncture 21st Nov 2011, by AnimalCare
This ought to be a very long and detailed update, but I’ve had a very long day and my eyes could barely open, so I’ll make it short and concise without missing out on all the important points.
My friend took Courage for an X-Ray this afternoon. Courage’s spinal chord IS broken. It is the L6 vertebrae – it is broken into half and there are pieces as well. However, her lungs look “okay”, there were no major damage except for some abnormality at the ends of the l...
