Pole-Proofing The Sidegate
4th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Vertical rods soldered to make the gaps more narrow (like the ones below the horizontal bar). The contractors arrived while I was out, and they started work from the outside. Cow was the only one lounging in Bunny’s Place at that time (the rest were having a siesta in the room). Cow must have totally freaked out. When I came back, I found him hiding in a corner. I quickly carried him into the room and… He hid under the Kipas sofa.  Bunny was sitting on the sofa.  Pole was on a...

2 Narrow-Escaped Pups Need A Good Home ( Teh Boon Chuan’s)
4th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

From Teh Boon Chuan: A month ago, a mother dog and 2 puppies are spotted at setia alam’s shop lots area. They always sleep and rest at one of the corner shop lot, which is the ex-mamak’s restaurant that currently unoccupied. The mother dog is very friendly and with collar (believe that she has a home previously and been thrown to the street then). Even though there are numbers of restaurants nearby (guess no worry of starving), however, they need to go across the road every time to l...

OMG…Pole Escapes…!!
4th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

This morning, Indy woke me up at 3am. I had no idea what time it was as I was unpacking till very late last night, and I was totally deadbeat. We had spent last night with the cats in their room because the wardrobe in our bedroom was not ready yet. Indy was very persistent, so I got up and opened the backdoor. Headcount first…1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6…. OMG, where is Pole??? Another headcount, checked under all the furniture, looked behind the plants… Oh no, Pole is gone! I raised the ...

Familiarity Arrives…
4th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Our stuff arrived in the late afternoon, at about 4.00pm.  For animals, I think they don’t thrive on new things (unlike us).  Old is Gold, even for little Tabs.  I could sense the cats felt more comfortable when we put more of our old stuff into their room.  Indy and Bunny both claimed an “apartment” each on this divider. My plan is to let them have a shelf each as a bedroom of sorts. Yes, that’s my “plan”. Just my plan. The cats might have other pl...

Cow Dethrones Himself….or Found A New Throne?
4th Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

Cow as king in the old house, but yesterday, upon reaching the new house, he was completely lost. To make matters worse, when one of the workers came to relocate the cat shelf, Cow went completely berserk. He ran helter-skelter, scaled the eight-foot wall and fell with the thump on the floor. He was totally crazy. I tried to catch him, but he was too scared, so I had to use the carrier. Grabbed him and plonked him in.  Phew! That was close… Cow stayed inside the carrier (even though I op...

How Infuriating…!!
3rd Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

I seldom lose my cool (even when dealing with………..) but this does it! This person brought a cat for neutering at our panel vet under our FULL sponsorship today (not that she cannot afford it, since she works) AND makes another appointment for another two cats under our sponsorship for another day WITHOUT asking me if we can pay for it. Our slot tomorrow has already been booked by another rescuer who went through the proper channel through me. Now, this person barges in and make...

Sunrise…and Bobby And Cats Arrive At Bunny’s Place
3rd Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

This morning was the “big” move, that is, moving Bobby and the cats over to the new house before the movers turn up to move out the rest of the house. The cats came back for food and I fed them first. Then, one by one, I put them into their respective carriers. Cleo put up a fight and was the last to be in. We almost thought we’d have to leave her behind and come back to get her this evening.  All in carriers…except Cleo. Finally, we got ourselves loaded into the car. B...

The Games That Tabs Plays
2nd Jan 2012, by AnimalCare

We’ve been going in and out of the house a lot in the past week because there is just so much to do for the new house. But each time we go out, Tabs would be waiting to dash out of the door. My husband devised a method to keep her occupied with a game so that we can sneak out… Watch… This is called “Find the Feather”. Method: Drop feather through hold into tall box.  Here’s Tabs trying to retrieve the feather.  She uses her paws and claws.  Then, she use...
