The Blueys – Spayed On Monday And Doing Well! (Andy Lew’s) 23rd Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Blueys news is always happy news, isn’t it?
Well, the Blueys were spayed on Monday and they boarded a night at the vet’s too. Andy brought them to a clinic near his place and apparently, the rate is only RM180 for each spaying and it includes one night’s boarding (that’s really good, right?). This vet uses the flank (side) method and also provides the e-collar.
Some vets do not use the e-collar as it stresses the animal, but some do. In one case sponsored by us, the cat b...

One Female Puppy Spayed And Adopted (Aaron Lee Szion Jin’s) 23rd Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
From Aaron on 16th January:
The two puppies appeared at the same time one night in front of my house.
When they appeared, they were little puppies and I decided to keep them because I cant stand knowing they might die running on the streets like that.
So, few days later, i brought them to the vet and doctor said they looked around 3 months old.
And we had to give them some vaccination jabs as they were puppies, suggested the doctor.
As time passed by, my family and I decided to keep them.
C...

Two Kittens For Adoption (Mavis Ong’s) 22nd Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
From Mavis Ong (mavis168@yahoo.com):
Hi Kah Yein,
We found two stray and very forlorn kittens outside our house today. We brought them to the vet to be checked, cleaned, and fed. The vet will house them for a few days but then they will need new homes. We are unable to take them as we already have two dogs (who dislike cats).
There’s two of them – in the photos, there’s one grey kitten that is much weaker than the other hence I could not get a good photo of him/her.

I have been working together with PetFinder.my and Scratch to come up with a joint policy for multiple fund subsidies because rescuers with large bills have been applying to two or three funds for subsidies.
Here is our joint policy for multiple fund subsidies:
Multiple Fund Policy
1) Joint Funding Structure (determined by total vet bill)
a. Below RM750 – only from one fund, subject to a maximum of 50%.
b. From RM750 to RM1500 – up to two funds, subject to a maximum total joint subsidy of ...

Cat And Kitty Updates From Maslinda 22nd Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
As you know, Maslinda fosters and looks after many cats and kittens in her neighbourhood. Recently, she agreed to foster the Shah Alam family, which I’ve named Super (the mother), Jamie and Maxie (the girls) and Sunny (the boy). The Shah Alam family’s plight was brought to my attention by Koo. I asked Maslinda if she would be able to help and after Maslinda agreed, Koo brought the whole family to the vet’s for a check-up and deworming and we also supplied a big bag of RC Babyca...

Updates On Kenya! (Reena Kong’s) 22nd Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Kenya is the beloved pet of Reena Kong. A very unfortunate accident in the alley in August 2011 caused Kenya to be critically injured. Her right eye was gone, the left engorged, her lips were smashed and her tongue was hanging out. I remember the very afternoon that Reena called me and asked me to recommend a vet who could address Kenya’s problem. The vet Reena consulted earlier had suggested that Kenya be euthanised.
Reena would not give up on Kenya, so she sought treatment. Kenya went in...

We Have No Provisions To Give Out Loans, And Other Related Matters 22nd Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Dear all,
In the past few months, there have been rescuers writing in asking for help for their animals. When I offered our subsidy plan, they write back saying they have absolutely NO money at all. Some of these are working adults. I find it rather hard to imagine any working adult who has NO money at all unless their house has been razed to the ground or there has been a calamity in their lives.
But no, some of these people perpetually have “no money”. Is it a case of bad financial...

More On Darwin’s Story 22nd Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/02/21/darwin-th e-real-story/
Here’s more from Narelle:
I was showing one of my volunteers yr site and saw the latest one on Darwin. The only thing that doesn’t add up, is we didn’t get it thru a big group. It was a lady, she originally rescued it and put it in the clinic. I know she raised funds for it’s care in the clinic and cargo up….maybe the bigger group lumped them all in together. But you are about right…..Whatever, ...

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/02/18/finally-h es-called-darwin-a-story-from-july-2006/
Remember a few days ago, I just posted the story of Darwin? Way back in July 2006, I was just starting out and a then established group wanted to do a bigtime rescue mission to take dogs out of the Puchong dogpound, I decided to help them and got my brother-in-law’s lorry to ferry the dogs out.
I was told that one of the dogs needed amputation and was told funds were needed for the surgery. Shortly ...

Pole’s First Attempt….from Alcatraz? 21st Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
It didn’t take long….
After breakfast today, the 1st attempt was carried out and I caught it all on camera.
Watch…
From the box-bungalow where Pole has declared her home, suddenly, she dashed across the room, heading straight towards the door!!
Gaining sufficient momentum, after careful calculation last night, the feline-catapult was launched, and….
Up!!!
Hook on, TEAR with all your might!!
Indy cheers her on.
Go, Pole, go!!
Oh oh…yikes!! I can’t...

More Litter Tales (Part 2) 21st Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Call me crazy, but right now, I’m using three types of cat-litter.
I was hoping I’d be able to change to the paper-litter (for health and environmental friendliness) but my brood wouldn’t go anywhere near it. So I was going to give the whole pack away until my friend, Cathy, told me to sprinkle some onto my existing Ever Clean to get the cats slowly and gradually accustomed to the new litter.
Oh well, why not? Nothing to lose, I hope.
But I had run out of Ever Clean already, so...

Cat-Proofing The Last Bastion….Ze Grille! 21st Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
After all the heart-stopping episodes (my friend Cathy said her heart also stopped many times just reading my posts yesterday!) by Indy, Pole, Tabs and Cleo, we just had to do something to cat-proof the last bastion – the catgrille.
The catgrille was actually meant to curb Cow & Bunny from going out ‘coz they spray. But so far, only Cow sprays now. Maybe (just maybe) calling the place “Bunny’s Place” has had a good effect – Bunny doesn’t spray anymor...
