It’s Raining, Mr G. 8th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
It had been alternating between raining and drizzling all evening until now.
Mr G could not come to the usual spot to chill this evening (in front of the Stargate). But he came on his round twice, on the ledge.
Just now, I heard mewing and it was Mr G – he still came to visit, despite the receding drizzle.
Hi, Mr G!!
Tabs, the perfect host.
I think Mr G is trying to find a way to come into Bunny’s Place, if only to make friends.
He’s jumped onto our roof now, b...

Help Needed To Catch Some Dogs And Puppies (Esther Cheah’s) 8th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
From Esther:
Hi Dr. Good morning.
Just a quick update on Brushy, she’s been an enormous tub of fun for my household and have been trying to get along with my cat… quick. Unfortunately my cat has not been very receptive and friendly at all, in fact has been retaliating by hissing at the pup. Will be bringing Brushy for spaying soon.
Have also been feeding some strays near my office’s parking and just wondering if you would know how to handle a pack of the strays that include pup...

Pak Din’s Dog, Tip, Spayed 8th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
From Chew:
Last saturday took Pak Din’s only female youngster(out of 6 )called ‘Tip’ to Klinik Kembiri in Setapak to be spayed. She has a white tip on her tail and that’s the reason Pak Din called her Tip. The others are Woo Kuei(black devil), Ah Hak(Black), Wollie, Wolf, and Badak all males.
This was my first visit to the Klinik and I was really surprised how busy it was on saturday. One of the reason is they had to close last sunday as the manager was busy and they ...

Tomorrow Is Amira’s 12 Cats/kittens’ Appointment 7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/03/06/very-urge nt-help-needed-for-12-cats-amira-sabris/
I went to speak with our vet today regarding Amira’s 12 cats/kittens which she is bringing in tomorrow for a check-up and treatment.
The vet said Amira has called the clinic and spoken to him. Apparently, according to Amira, there appears to be an outbreak of a fast-spreading contagious skin infection in her cats. We will know more tomorrow.
In my correspondence with Amira today, she said the 6 sick...

Kelly’s Dogs Are Up For Adoption (Ipoh) 7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
I’d like to personally thank my old school friend, Ms Lee, for helping out with Kelly and Jacinta’s case in Ipoh. Ms Lee and I go back a LONG way, back to our teens when we were still schooling.
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/03/0 4/food-subsidy-for-kelly-and-jacintas-dog-sanctuar ies-in-ipoh-and-tanjong-rambutan/
As you know, Kelly is looking after more than 100 dogs now. Unfortunately for her, many people also dump puppies and pregnant dogs at her gate. That is how her numbers ...

A Bed Of Thorns, Part 4 7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Updates on “the case”:
The Kawan is acting as middle-person to apply for help for the hoarder.
Initially, there were 30 dogs, but we found out 18 had died from distemper, so there are now 12 left.
Our first offer is to get these 12 vaccinated to protect them from further outbreak of any disease as the hoarder keeps bringing in animals from the street.
We were also given the address of the dog shelter where these 12 dogs are located, and I have informed the Kawan that our volunteer wi...

Sumitra’s Two Newborns At The Fosterer’s 7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/03/03/found-fos terer-for-the-two-newborns-sumitras/
One of our readers responded to help out Sumitra with the fostering of the two newborns for 8 days while Sumitra is away.
Today, Sumitra and her friends brought the two kittens to the fosterer.
The fosterer wishes to remain anonymous, so we shall respect that.
These kittens are probably too young to be dewormed now, but whenever we rescue kittens (eyes opened), it is always recommended that we bring them to t...

Updates On Daisy, Dewey And Oprah (!) 7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Who is Oprah??
Well, apparently, The Mighty Thor is a girl, so she has been renamed Oprah now!! Equally mighty, I must say…
Daisy and siblings went to the vet’s today:
As for 3 musketeers, all 3 been de-wormed. The vet said, they look really healthy except he thinks they still have worms. He did a quick check, and true enough there were eggs in their stools He mentioned he’s not really worried about Daisy’s big tummy as he pointed out, I must be feeding them a lot (of...

Yes, We Have A Blacklist 7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
We have a blacklist, and this is because our funds come from donations from the public and it is our duty to ensure that the money is used wisely and correctly and all for the animals.
So, who is on our blacklist?
Previously, when we had panel vets and we used to sponsor up to 100%:
1. Those who have quarreled with our vets.
2. Those who do not pick up their animals after a procedure.
3. Those who promised to pay us back (when they lumped food and other accessories into the bill) but do not hono...

Subsidy For Vaccination For Male Dog, Zutzai (Carman Hor’s) 7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Carman Hor is a university student. Her adopted street dog, Hambao’s, initial treatment was subsidised by us. There was another two medical claims for Hambao’s mange treatment in February recently and when she failed to acknowledge receipt of the funds, she was blacklisted. She also claimed the medical treatment in full despite knowing our 50% policy. We only paid out 50% and she was told that we do not provide full subsidy.
Recently, she wrote in again for a claim for another adopte...

Subsidy For Spaying Of Female Dog, Storm (Myza Nordin’s) 7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Storm has come a long, long way ever since the time she was almost torn apart due to a fight between two mother-dogs.
Here is her story from rescuer, Myza Nordin:
Storm is rescued from Selayang in July, 2011. She had a bad neck injury (head almost torn apart) due to ‘tug of war’ between 2 mother dogs. She was nursed to health by me and my housemate. Her wound was sewed without anaesthatic, as she was too small for it. So, u can imagine the pain she has to go through.

R = Rehome Or Return To Colony 7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Two people have written to me to discuss the disadvantages of returning spayed-neutered animals to the colony.
And today, with the post about foreigners eating dogs and cats, returning animals to the colony takes a backseat even more. A reader even said in view of the street animals being eaten, perhaps they may be better off with a hoarder.
To be killed and eaten OR to live under the hands of a hoarder – it all depends on what kind of hoarder we’re talking about here. It ranges fro...

Is It So Hard To Follow Rules? 7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Most of my days start off very nicely even with the barrage of emails (piled up from the night) that I have to respond to or the subsidy claim forms that had come in the day before whose reports I have to publish here (for our many donors) and claims I have to reimburse. I keep petty cash in four banks just so that I can transfer funds to the various rescuers (to give them the privilege of using their own bank account) and also so that AnimalCare does not have to pay the intergiro bank transfer ...

An After-Dinner Guest… 7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
This morning, as I was about to leave for work, I suddenly noticed a fairly large animal (not sure if it was a dog or a cat) walking past my Bunny-Grille. I quickly took a peek and guess who it was?
Yay! It was Mr G!
He must have come in from the front windows (or from upstairs, I’m not sure) and he seemed a bit loss. Actually, I think he was a little embarrassed that he had come into my house without a proper invitation because he was actually trying very hard to get out.
I didn’...

Oh Gosh…is This Why Stray Dogs And Cats Are Disappearing? 7th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
From one of our readers:
Had a rather disturbing or interesting conversation with a businessman friend from Port Klang.
He brought up that his friend who own businesses at the port lost his 2 German Shepard and later discovered after much persuasions that his workers from a foreign country had consumed his dogs after making friends with his dogs after several months.
The more disturbing fact is that one my friend’s relative is a recruiter of foreign workers from the dog/cat eating country....
