Mr G Is Not Afraid Anymore!
10th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

I came home quite late tonight, after giving a talk at the local temple. And as usual, the gang asked for a supper snack when I came home. Soon after supper, the gang went to the Clubhouse and it looked like our guest had come again…  Yes, it is Mr G! Hi there, Mr G….oh, I haven’t offered you a snack all day, hang on, please. Today, I cooked for the gang, so everyone had a home-cooked meal and they enjoyed it. So, Mr G gets a home-cooked meal as well, and he enjoyed it as wel...

Updates On Amira’s 11 Cats/kittens
9th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

I managed to speak with our vet regarding Amira’s cats/kittens. Client confidentiality is to be respected, so our vet cannot reveal details. Suffice to say that one kitten (who passed on yesterday) was already dying and could not be saved, but the rest was not in dire straits at all. It was just a case of needing proper advice on how to manage the herd. Amira said the little one passed on after her mother nursed her. Sad, but it has already happened and all things happen for a reason. Let&...

Welcome To Bunny’s New Garden
9th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Today, Bunny’s Garden got “repaired”…. The Philippine grass we had planted when we first moved in gradually died. I think it was due to the place being too shady, the poor water drainage from the soil as well as Cow and Bobby’s urine! Anyway, our landscaper said Pearl Grass would be the only type that we could try growing in this shady part of the compound. So, Pearl Grass it is….  Welcome to my new garden… We had these stepping stones placed on the la...

I’m hoping to move on to dry kibble (mixed with water) soon and hope that her stools will improve. Baby Alien at about 10 days old – weighs 100g, abandoned by her mother. (Said to be suffering from Hyd...

Before We Spread Any News About Cruelty To Animals, Please Be Informed Of The Consequences
8th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

In the course of running AnimalCare, I sometimes receive requests from readers to spread the news of people who have afflicted cruelty to animals. Sometimes these news come with photographic evidence of the victims (the animals) and the perpetrators (the humans), along with the story of the cruel act. While I understand that the intention to publicise such stories is good (ie. to stop the act), we must always be careful when spreading such news. Please also be informed that it is in our policy t...

The Story Of Bobby (Megaa Velayuthan’s)
8th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

This is not my 16 year-old mixed poodle, Bobby, but Megaa Velayuthan’s cat, who is also named Bobby! There may be something in the name “Bobby” as my Bobby (the dog) nurses baby kittens and Megaa’s Bobby also nurses kittens! And both Bobbys are males, too! Enjoy the following little story from Megaa: Bobby came to us when he was about 2months old in Sept 2009. I found him from Petfinder, looking for a home, a college student who was leaving to UK took a good care of him....

8th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/03/05/fitri-goe s-home-photos/ Fitri is now home with Myza and is well on his way to recovery. His journey in battling sporotrichosis has been a rather long one, but what matter is that he is well enough now. We have subsidised RM105 for this final bill of RM525. Myza applied to three funds for Fitri’s treatment so our subsidy is 20% (from each fund, making up a total of 60% as per our Multiple Fund policy). Our total subsidy for Fitri is RM405. Three che...

Kheang Bee Nar, from Seberang Perai, wrote to me on 24th Feb: I joined the company about 9 months ago and there are many strays  at the surrounding factories over here. I started feeding them after noticing another pack of dogs chased them away from the food stalls.  So, hunting for food is fairly depends on their luck. Contacted SPCA Seberang Prai and they are willing to help me to transport the strays (about 8 of them) for neutering and spaying purposes. The person in charge was ...

The Black Guardians Of The Datuks
8th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

We’ve noticed this pack of black dogs for many months now. They live in the big field in Subang Jaya where there is a clump f trees and inside this clump, are the plaques of three “Datuk”s. My husband often says they are the guardians of the Datuks and on my part, I hope the Datuks will protect them from harm so that they can continue living there in peace. They don’t disturb anyone, they just hang around there. Adelyn Yap has been feeding them and one of them appears to ...

Amira Brought The 12 Cats/kittens To The Vet’s
8th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

I was not able to be at the vet’s today, but anyhow, since we have a subsidy scheme now, there is also no necessity for me to be present at the vet’s. Confidentiality between vet and client is to be respected. Previously, we sponsored 100%, so I would have to be present. Anyway, this is what Amira wrote to me in an sms after her visit: I already see the vet. The kittens that had a wound under its head is because the virus…the smallest one, around her neck had a dead cell that w...
