A Man Reunited With His Dog…after 7 Years 12th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
My cousin forwarded this story to me, and it is quite apt as we are now looking for Ofie. It may help, too, that my friend, Mary, lost her childhood cat, Vicky, and after one year, a neighbour spotted Vicky at the marketplace and alerted Mary. Mary went there, and it WAS Vicky! Vicky was brought home and lived on till a ripe old age.
Enjoy this story, and please, let’s help make a dream come true for Ofie and Connie’s children.
While attending the Lantern Festival, a young Beijing m...

Home-Cooking Again; Deboning This Time. 12th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
I joined Andi Brown’s FB exchange on homecooking for pets (actually it’s for dog recipes) and learnt that we should not give cooked bones, even if it is ground. The reason is that even finely ground bones would have sharp fragments and also cooked bones has no more nutritional value.
So, this evening, I steamed chicken breast, liver, chicken ribs and after it had cooled, I deboned the ribs.
Apparently, I just learnt that by cooking the bones together with the meat, the calcium would ...

A Pregnant Cat And A Little Tail-Less Lizard 11th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
This evening, my husband wanted to go out for dinner, so we drove to one of the coffee shops nearby. As I alighted from the car, a pregnant cat came mewing towards me. She walked up to my feet and let me pat her.
In my heart of hearts, I wish I could take her home and give her a safe place to deliver her babies. But then, what would happen after that? Each time we take an animal home, we must always be prepared to adopt the animal, and in this case, she and her babies, should we fail to find the...

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/03/11/very-urge nt-kitten-milk-needed-injured-kitten-needs-nursing -care/
We wish to thank everyone who has prayed hard for Brainy ever since this morning.
At this moment, Brainy is still hanging on, and fighting for his life. My friend (the anonymous fosterer) has been giving milk and glucose water every 2 hours and keeping Brainy as warm as possible. Brainy responds when he is touched at the spinal area. Otherwise, he is quiet.
My friend wrote to me:
Just whe...

Hi KY,
We just came back from the 2 areas after searching since 8.30am. No Ofie. We walked in the back alleys, called him and shake the food in the containers and our keys. He could be anywhere by now! As it’s now school holidays, Connie and her kids will go back to look some more. It’s really like looking for that needle in the hay stack. Plus Ofie could be very scared and remain hi...

Homecooking For Our Pets – The Debate About Bones 11th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
I refer to my post http://myanimalcare.org/2012/03/02/restartin g-on-the-home-cooked-food-again/
There will always be an ongoing debate about feeding bones to your animals.
Here’s what I have gathered, though I strongly urge you to seek expert advice before feeding bones to your animals.
The below is only a sharing and is by no means, nutritional advice.
1. Raw bone is good for our animals because it contains calcium and bone marrow. Bone marrow has a wonderful quality that is very good f...

Chen Chen and her apartment friend, Connie, and Connie’s two young children look after the community cats in their apartment area. Unfortunately, there are two animal-hating neighbours in their block and one of them traps the cats and dump them elsewhere.
Recently, Ofie, one of the community cats looked after by Connie and her two children was trapped and dumped by one of these neighbours. The neighbour has refused to reveal where he has dumped Ofie despite the children’s pleas.

We have subsidised RM100 for the neutering of Mocha Boy, a male dog rescued by Chin Mei-Yee.
Dear Kah Yein,
I would like to apply for myanimalcare’s subsidy for mocha boy’s

medical treatment( the surgery for his fractured leg). It has been
exactly 2 months after his surgery and he’s now recovering very well
under foster care. Vet will do a final x-ray and if able to, remove
the last 3 pins. I requested that h...

And Just How Old Is Your Pet? 10th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
A friend shared this: http://shine.yahoo.com/pets/old-pet-correct ly-calculate-dog-cats-age-162200633.html
Please click on the link and take a look.
It is interesting to note that large breeds and small breeds of dogs age at a different rate. Makes sense, doesn’t it?
So, Bobby should be 80 and Cow, Bunny and Pole, 40! And Indy is pushing 32. Wow…I had better stop treating them as kids!
Click on the link above and scroll all the way down and read the comments as well.
My favourite on...

Trusting Nature To Do What’s Best 10th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
I was chatting with someone who runs a sanctuary in another town and I told her about the story of Sunshine Courage. She was very inspired with Sunshine’s recovery, and she said, in her experience of decades of looking after animals, she has encountered on many occasions, paralysed dogs, which when left alone, started to heal on their own and could finally walk again! So, she said, all this hurry to have animals euthanised just because the vet says they will not recover, is sometimes, so u...

Dear all
First of all, i would like to salute to all of your great works in
rescueing dogs. By the stories, i manage to see how you all really go
all the way to rescue them. I feel ashame for not being able to do any
rescue works because as of yet i am not independent enough and i have
no support from my family.
Two months ago, i rescue a puppy from the middle of highway. He was
stuck there under the flyover unable to cross the roads because ...
