14th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Chew is requesting help from able-bodied volunteers (3 or 4 would be good) to help Pak Din put up his roof this Saturday. It’s too much work for the 59, 65 and 72 year-olds today! If you are able to help, please contact Chew directly at 016-3281210. Thank you! From Chew: Dear Dr.Chan, Today went to Pak Din’s place with my good buddy Mr.Tan to try to lend Pak Din a helping hand to put up a new roof. His current roof is made of plastic sheets which were singlehandedly put up by Pak Din...

Diva Is Adopted! (Mary Yap’s)
14th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Do you remember little Diva? She’s the kitten Mary picked up from a divider on Old Klang Road in the middle of the mid-morning traffic jam. Till today it remains a mystery how such a tiny little kitten managed to get across the four-laned highway to hang precariously onto the divider. Diva was found clutching her little paws onto the divider. Mary brought Diva over to me that afternoon and I offered to foster her overnight until she pees and poos on her own. And since then, Mary has looked ...

A Sharing…to Give Us Hope (from Zue)
14th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Here’s a beautiful sharing from Zue. I asked for her consent to publish if only to give Connie, her children and Chen Chen some hope. And the rest of us can use some of it, too! Thank you, Zue. Good things must be shared, and that certainly goes for good stories. Dr Chan I am both happy and sad about the kittens eg the likes of Brainy (sad it has passed on but happy that it is in a better place) and Stronghold (happy that it is still fighting) and the other kittens. What makes it even mo...

Still No Ofie
14th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Latest updates: Hi KY, It’s not Ofie in that house. But the owner is a cat-lover and he promised to keep an eye out. And he pointed out the houses around that feed cats. So he assures Connie that there is no need to be afraid that there is no food because many people leave food behind. Connie says that this is true because she has been walking the back alleys of these houses and saw many left-overs. Plus there are no stray dogs. Connie has finished putting flyers into the mail box of the...

14th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Wong Choy Foong  (017-376-7292) choyfoong@hotmail.com Good evening. I live in the US, and am currently in M’sia visiting family through the 21st of March. I’m in need of suggestions/ideas. I came across a cat with pretty horrific leg injuries this past Sunday. He presently can’t/won’t walk, and I have no idea how he’s survived so far dragging his body around by his front legs. The vet’s initial diagnosis is that his right hind leg will probably need to be amp...

Daisy, Dewey And Oprah Vaccinated!
13th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Daisy’s “god-mother” (the anonymous fosterer) brought the whole gang to our vet for vaccination recently. It looks like Daisy, who was the weakest when first rescued, is now the alpha-queen of the brood!  Here’s our heroine, Daisy, grabbing her toy, Dolly the Sheep, real tight and refusing to let go when she was vaccinated. So, so, cute!!  I went in to see them after the vaccinations and lookie there…all three were fast asleep with their own comfort soft-toy! Wh...

Dog Shampoo (for Distribution)
13th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Mrs Wai is giving away 15 boxes of dog shampoo (just newly expired) and has asked us to help her distribute. Meiji has taken four boxes and there are now 11 boxes left for distribution. The brand is “The Pet Supplies” and each bottle is 400ml. Mrs Wai herself has tested it on her own petdogs and found it to be very good even though it is newly expired (according to the supplier). Each box has about 24 bottles of shampoo. If you are a dog rescuer or you run a dog shelter and would lik...

Brainy Is On Rainbow Bridge Now
13th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

My friend just texted to say Brainy has passed on. Brainy is now on Rainbow Bridge, whole again, and happy. I am taught that rebirth is immediate and that is so comforting in times of bereavement. Brainy’s suffering is over now. No more pain. He is at peace now. My personal thanks and gratitude go to my friend for making the effort of accompanying John Siang to the clinic, waiting in the queue, helping him during the consultation with the vet, giving him advice on what to do with Xiao Chea...

13th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Today, we purchased 10 packs of Sportsmix Adult Dogfood for Meiji’s dogs. Meiji told me that she prefers our monthly RM200 for the sponsorship of Russell, Sweetie, Jackie and Doby to be converted into dogfood. So, we topped it up from our Food Fund to RM886.40 to purchase 10 packs of food this round. Meiji needs two packs of food each day to feed her 135 dogs. We also hope our readers who have pledged to help with the Sponsor-a-Dog programme at RM50 per dog will bank in their pledges to Me...

Her front leg had been amputated (we subsidised the cost) and now she is on chemotherapy d...

When Cleo Got Lost…in 2009
12th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2009/10/19/cleo-ran- away-i-need-help-please/ Ref: http://myanimalcare .org/2009/10/19/we-found-cleo/ On 19th October 2009, I did one of the stupidest things ever – I brought Cleo to the vet without using a carrier thinking I could carry her into the clinic. Also, Cleo hated being in the carrier and fought when I tried to put her in. So, I thought I’d just carry her instead of stressing her out. My cats seldom went to the clinic, and being home-pets, I ...
