In April 2010, Canadian Bob Fawcett brutally massacred his 100 sled dogs due to a supposedly “slow winter season”. The murders were discovered when he tried to get government compensation for distress. The description of the horrendous and absolutely barbaric murders can be found in the link below. We have subsidised RM200 for the spaying of two female cats, Cookie and Lizzie, rescued by Veronica Ong May Yoong. Hi Dr Chan, I came to know of your organisation through an article in The Star recently.  I admire you for your patience, dedication and love for animals. I read about the practice of CNRM and would like to start one ie. one back alley CNRM, instead of One-Street CNRM. My mother in-law and I have been feeding a mother cat, her young kitten (I think its a male about 7-8 months) and ...

28th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

In just this one week, I’ve received two cases of outbreak of Feline Panleukopenia (also known as feline distemper), which is caused by the deadly feline parvovirus. Please see this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feline_panleuk openia In both cases, the persons concerned are keeping MANY cats but have never got them vaccinated. All it takes is to bring in one single cat that is infected, and in both cases, their cats are now dying one by one. Isolating the healthy ones may help, but the in...

What Diseases Did Pets Have 30-40 Years Ago?
27th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

I ordered Andi Brown’s book from Amazon.com and am reading it now. I’m attracted to this quote on Page 13…. It says: “In speaking with vets that practised thirty or forty years ago, before the pet industry grew, they state that they did not see the diseases in dogs and cats that we are seeing today. Would You Like To Adopt Some Gerbils And Save Them From Being Euthanised? (Dr Veeranoot Nissapatorn’s)
27th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Dr Veeranoot Nissapatorn is a medical doctor lecturing in one of our local universities.  Her research does not involve the use of animals, but she noticed the laboratories use gerbils, and it is their pratice to euthanise the older ones (5-6 months). The good doctor is trying to save these gerbils from that fatal needle, so she would like to ask if anyone might want to adopt them as short-term pets. The lifespan of gerbils is about 2-5 years (according to the internet). If you would like to ad...
