Here it is:
Things to consider before you start a small animal sanctuary.
1) Location and size of your land.
If you are situated in a housing estate and you have neighbours, please take into consideration the noise a...

Hi folks,
Earth Hour is today, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
Time to shut off the lights and enjoy the darkness for awhile.
And, to reflect on our good fortune in having light in our lives, but once in a while, we need to give it a rest, too.
Happy Earth Hour!

Tomorrow Is Earth Hour 2012 30th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Coincidentally, since 2008, every Earth Hour, I’d end up writing or completing a book.
Earth Hour 2008, I wrote my first non-academic book, Pawprints on My Heart.
Earth Hour 2009, I wrote Indy Jones & the 4 Pillars of Kindness.
Earth Hour 2010, I wrote See You at Rainbow Bridge.
Earth Hour 2011, I wrote Make Time While the Sun Shines.
Looks like this year, I don’t have any inspiration to write any book! I could easily take a few cases and whip it into a book, but it’s not ...

News From Soi Dog 30th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
As you are no doubt aware , Soi Dog has been actively involved in Bangkok in the latter half of the year; firstly working with local people to fight the illegal dog meat trade and to introduce animal welfare laws and more recently co-ordinating the rescue and temporary care of hundreds of animals stranded by the recent Bangkok floods.
During this time it became very clear that not only were the problems in Bangkok massive in scale, but also (very encouragingly) a lot of local people are trying ...

Indy Strikes Back! 30th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
When Indy was younger (and being the youngest cat most of the time, unless we had fosters), he was at times, bullied by the infamous Cow & Bunny.
A few days ago, Indy struck back!
I caught Indy fluffing himself up and terrorising Cow. And it seemed to be working…Cow was afraid.
Now, what’s going on and what’s the issue here?
Indy driving Cow out of the room.
See Indy’s fluffed-up tail?
Indy chased Cow all the way to the Clubhouse….
And sat on top, to...

This Tops The List, Doesn’t It? 29th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Today seems to be a day where lady luck isn’t shining on us.
First thing, this lady who calls herself a rescuer (with a rather unpleasant history with us) applied for a subsidy for the spaying of a cat (by the way, she asked her daughter to claim on behalf of her and I only found out after I keyed in the bank account no, and her name appeared!). The money was banked in about a month ago, and there was no acknowledgement from her or her daughter at all. I called her two days ago to ask if s...

Better Watch What We Watch 29th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Yesterday, I watched a most horrible movie which has, unfortunately, been hailed as a “hot movie” amongst the younger generation.
It tells of a time in the future where a great (failed) revolution had taken place, and to punish the people who fought in the revolution, each district would have to send two of their young people (a boy and a girl) to fight to the death in the “games” which is a TV game show watched and cheered on by millions of viewers.
The movie shows how y...

Where Can We Get Real “kampung Eggs”? 29th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
I was talking to two people who are in the “free-range egg” or more popularly known as “kampung egg” industry and here’s what they told me.
Apparently, according to these two people, “ayam kampung” is just a breed of chickens. They are not really free-range. The chickens are left to grow up freely until they are 6 months old, then they are also caged and made to produce eggs, which are then sold as “telur ayam kampung” or “free-range eg...
