Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/04/17/cat-with-eye-in jury-in-need-of-an-adopter-after-treatment-koo-swe e-pors/ Koo managed to catch the iCity cat, whom he has named Caty, and she was brought in for treatment yesterday evening: Hi Dr Chan, 01.jpg: After getting confident from your explanation and shared stories, I decided to fastforward my rescue attempt and rushed to iCity during my lunchtime. Each one-way journey took about 20 minutes so I had little spare time to do my search for the cat...

Very Urgent: Fosterer/Adopter Needed For An Infant Kitten (Michael Hor’s)
17th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare

A man by the name of Michael called me two days ago. He had found an infant kitten and was wondering if I could take it. I explained we are not a shelter but I could blog for a fosterer. I asked for details about the kitten and a photograph but none was sent. But he did ask how to nurse the kitten and I told him to purchase Toplife (it was Saturday, almost 7pm). I know Subang Pet Products sell it and they were still open, and Michael was in Subang Jaya at that time. Then, I did not hear from Mic...

Dogfood For Meiji, From Healing Rooms
17th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare

Last week, Healing Rooms donated three packs of Orijen dogfood to any of the rescuers that we are supporting with our Food Fund. Since Meiji is in dire need of dogfood, we decided to give the three packs to her dogs.  It’s Orijen – really super premium food. Meiji came down yesterday to send Herculis for his Heartworm treatment and for this round, Herculis needed two injections on two consecutive days. So, Meiji brought Herculis down yesterday and boarded a night for the two jabs. ...

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/04/17/alls-well -that-ends-well-kuchai-avenue-dogs-there-are-two-o f-them/ Uncle Charles called even before I finished writing the earlier post about the Kuchai Avenue dogs. I drove to the clinic and Uncle Charles was waiting. Before that, I had already called the clinic to prepare them to receive the dogs and briefed them on what was needed.  That’s the male dog.  He’s SO friendly!  And here is the female. She is equally friendly.  Our vet ...

All’s Well That Ends Well….(Kuchai Avenue DogS – There Are Two Of Them!)
17th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare

I shall start this off by thanking PAWS and Ms Phong who are totally instrumental in coordinating today’s rescue work and keeping me informed while I was at work. You won’t believe this, but here’s the story. The female dog is not paralysed! Hooray!! There are two of them – a male and a female and they are a couple. These dogs are regarded as “guardians” of this neighbourhood and the residents there look after them well and they want them back. There is a pets...

Cat With Eye Injury, In Need Of An Adopter After Treatment (Koo Swee Por’s)
17th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare

Koo spotted a friendly cat with an eye injury at a mall in Shah Alam: Hi Dr Chan, Yesterday, I was in iCity for a meeting when I encountered a cat that need medical attention but need to consult you on your expectations, estimated medical cost and its future if rescued. It is a young (to me),  friendly and beautiful (to me) tabby cat with orange coat and white on its chest and paws. I only encountered it briefly. It was unusual because iCity is seemingly devoid of any strays and I understand th...

What It Entails To Foster A Special Needs Animal
16th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare

I know many people are impressed with how Sunshine had miraculously recovered from being a paralysed dog to an almost good-as-new dog now save for the bit of knuckling of the hind paw. Sunshine’s recovery was “miraculous” and that is only because she had a very, very committed caregiver, Lydia, who was with her 24/7 (literally) for the first 10 weeks.  The work needed was very heavy – turning her to prevent bedsores, coaxing her to calm down to be handled, massaging her,...

Please Be Alert And Be Aware Of This (dogs Being Poisoned By Treats)
16th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare

Please read this: http://poisonedpets.com/2012/04/06/alert-ve ts-warn-about-new-treats-from-china-poisoning-dogs / Nowadays, we often hear of kidney failure in pets, and some of these pets have been fed with the “best” foods available on the market. However, it is usually commercial foods, or processed foods. Please let’s read the labels carefully, or do sufficient research on the companies that produce these foods. Or, better still, homecook for your pets. Our pets are our re...

15th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare

Lately, we have been receiving SOSes for help, citing animals in distress, whether the animal has been beaten up, run over by vehicles or is in dire straits somewhere. Here’s what we suggest: When you see an animal in distress: 1. If you can, pick up the animal and send it straight to the vet’s. If it is after office hours, Gasing Hospital has a call-back service with an emergency charge. Gasing Hospital 03-77823553 Our subsidy policies apply: http://myanimalcare.org/subsidy/ 2. If ...

And….it’s Here!! The EQUATION! (the 2012 All-New AnimalCare Tshirt)
14th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare

I had been waiting for the new tshirts to be ready…and finally, they arrived yesterday evening. The supplier had to do a stock-count so I could only collect them this morning. But first, allow me to thank Kean-Joo for helping me source for the team of young artists, all from BrandCare. They submitted more than 20 designs and from there, we short-listed a few, and finally, I chose one of the simplest designs. I tweaked it a bit here and there, changed it a bit, and voila…here it is! T...

Today was a most busy day for me. The morning started with ordering dogfood for Meiji, collecting our new tshirts (!!) and by afternoon, we were ready to make that long trek down to KL to Sunway Putra Mall for the Cat Show….  Aha…here we are!  Andy Lew set up this contest to raise funds for us. It’s to guess the weight of Neotrix the Cat. Each entry is RM2. The one whose guess is the closest to the actual weight wins RM460 worth of Feline Caviar catfood.  Neotrix is now a...

One Dog And 2 Cats Vaccinated (Bernice Chee’s)
14th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare

Bernice and Donovan will be migrating soon (*sniff*, there goes two of our trusty volunteers…). They have been feeding the stray community in their neighbourhood and now they have to make plans to rehome as many of them as they can before they leave the country. I suggested they get the animals vaccinated first, for protection. Today, we did two cats (already neutered) and one dog (also spayed). We’ve subsidised the cost of the vaccinations.  Mommy Dog, a terrier mix. Gave birth to...
