“Janganlah Menipu” 2nd May 2012, by AnimalCare
It has been brought to my attention that two rescuers (let’s call them No.1 and No.2) are planning to get someone else to put in some claims on behalf of them because they do not wish to reveal their names to us.
Hmm…but why? What is wrong with revealing their names? Unless they are running some clandestine operation which cannot see the light of day?
And do I know these two persons?
Well, I am, unfortunately, acquainted with No.1. She has claimed a number of cases from us previous...

Baggy Begins Her 3rd Day With My Cats 2nd May 2012, by AnimalCare
Last night, I let Baggy sleep in her Holey Box beside me as I slept on the bench in the room.
This morning, I found she had made herself a little sanctuary in the room, surrounded by two boxes. It was cute. Sorry my camera battery ran out on me, so no photo.
I thought I should take her out to the garden for a stretch…
Tabs wants to be friends.
Cleo is not antagonistic.
A little game of hide-and-seek, to break the ice?
The elders watch from a distance.

Sometimes We Need Closure 2nd May 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/03/18/lost-cat- please-help-to-look-out-for-it-jay-lams/
Jay wrote yesterday to say he has finally found out what happened to Ozee:
Found out from one of my neighbours. It’s most unfortunate that Ozee was run over by a motorcycle late one night about a month ago. Apparently the rider was trying to avoid a car, and so hit my cat. The neighbour came out because of the noise of the rider being thrown off his bike, and buried Ozee in his front garden. It e...

Dog Seller? 2nd May 2012, by AnimalCare
I received this a few days ago:
Message:
Greetings,
I am currently working at a pet store in KL. Recently our area is
being occupied by a stray female dog and her two pups. The two pups
are at the back of our store and the mother would go off (so far to
the front of the store)and come back to keep an eye on her babies.
Yesterday one of the pup fell into a deep drain and my colleague
rescued her. My boss is kind and allows us to feed these animals that
is as far as he will go. But my heart goes o...

Where Was The Cat During Those “lost” Hours? (a Sharing) 2nd May 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/04/24/this-is-a lmost-unbelievable/
In response to my post above on the case where a trainee vet opened up a male cat to be SPAYED without first checking if he was male or female just because the rescuer mistakenly thought and said the cat was female, and how the vet said, “Why did you tell me it was a female?” in defence, a reader shared her story below.
By the way the poor male cat is fine now. But we think this unfortunate mistake could have been...

A Bad Eye, But She Is Still Wanted (Dani Irwan’s Story) 2nd May 2012, by AnimalCare
From:
Dani Irwan
Message:
Hi there Dr Chan. I am in great need of your help, advice & opinion
regarding the matter of a stray kitten that I’m currently fostering
together with her sibling & mommy cat. Please bear with me as my story
is quite a long one…
It goes like this. The mama cat is a stray that frequently comes to my
house begging for food, so I’ve been feeding her for about a month or
so. When I first met her, she was already pregnant. Being a stray,
this mama ca...

Baggy’s 2nd Day 1st May 2012, by AnimalCare
We’ll start off this post with a related Cleo story first….
Right after I wrote the previous post on Baggy, I had to get ready the house for the interview. I did a headcount and one cat was missing – Cleo!
I searched all over Bunny’s Place and really, she was gone….
I went out to the road, look into the drains, up the roofs, she was no where to be found.
This was really, really bad timing because the interviewers would be coming soon.
Then, I made another thorough s...

Lily, Kitten For Adoption (Tjong Yen Chian’s) 1st May 2012, by AnimalCare
From Yen Chian:
Hi Dr Chan,
Few days back, a family come over to see the kitten. They have just lost their cat a few days back and have adopted a new one and would love to add a new one. The kitten they just adopted was a male so I told them that they must spay etc. After I mention the adoption fee which is Rm 50. It include helping other stray, they immediately says that they doesn’t want the kitten. It make me feel upset but I guess that family cannot really take care of the cat well.
He...

Updates On Teresa’s 2 Rescue Cases 1st May 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/04/27/alls-well -for-the-two-cruelty-cases-teresa-chians/
From Teresa:
Dear Kah Yein,
The first person who adopted Lotus, the 8-month German Shepherd whom I found tied to a pole at the children’s playground, returned him after a day. Said she is not ready to handle a high-energy dog like him. So I sent Lotus to the vet’s for neutering, vacc and deworm and a thorough check-up before rehoming him again. I’d like to appeal for a subsidy for Lotus...

Camping Out With Baggy Last Night 1st May 2012, by AnimalCare
I decided not to move Baggy upstairs, but to camp out with her last night.
So I laid out my yoga mat, which would serve as my bed for the night.
Baggy preferred her carrier so I left her inside with the door open.
It must have been almost 2am by the time I slept.
Half hour check – Baggy was missing from the carrier. Caused a bit of a panic, but found her on the dining chair.
Another half-hour check, on another dining chair.
Next check – still there.
Then, Bobby star...

Baggy Eats! Tabs And Tiger Want To Be Friends. 1st May 2012, by AnimalCare
Finally, Baggy was hungry enough and she ate. I’m relieved!
I cooked some stir-fried chicken for her, just the way she and Baloo liked it last time. She licked some of the gravy, but decided not to eat it. She didn’t want the kibble that Emily had sent through Mr Teh either.
Finally, I opened a can of Cindy’s recipe, and she ate!!
Mr Teh’s own house brand of catfood. He had brought 24 cans for Baggy.
I refilled and Baggy ate half a can, along with the kibble...

Baggy’s Home With Me Now 30th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
I went to the clinic to meet up with Mr Teh and Baggy.
Baggy!!
Hi Baggy!
Of course she couldn’t remember me, it’s been 5-6 months now and she was just a baby then.
It was our turn at the vet’s.
I had brought Pole along because she had been coughing a bit. Baggy was scared of Pole, so the vet put Pole in the far corner, and Baggy was calmer.
The vet took a very detailed history of what had happened to Baloo. Unfortunately, the post mortem was not done, so we will never...

Baggy’s Coming Home To Me Today 30th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
Baloo’s sudden demise has been a shock to me, and I think, also to many of our readers who have been following the Blueys’ story since Day One.
Last night, Andy wrote to say that perhaps the office environment isn’t so suitable for Baggy, so he wanted to know my opinion on rehoming Baggy.
I offered to take Baggy back.
Mr Teh also offered to adopt Baggy but the last time Baggy went to Mr Teh’s house, she was terrified of one of his bigger cats. Apparently, Baggy had become...
