my house on 29th March 2012. I’ve 2 cats at home and i can’t take in

Abandoned Elderly Cocker Spaniel For Adoption (Lim Swee Yen’s) 16th May 2012, by AnimalCare
To: Webmaster
From:
Lim Swee Yen
sweeyenlim@yahoo.com
Message:
Dr.Chan,
this cocker spaniel was abandoned probably due to her old age
(estimated 8-10 years) and her eye problem. She has a dry eye on the
right side and a proptosed left eye. Both eyes require eye drops and
this has to continue throughout her life. Would appreciate it if you
could post it on your blog and hopefully someone with a big heart will
give this girl a second chance. Other than her eye problem, everything
else is fine. She...

From:

Message:
De ar Dr. Chan,
I have been feeding a mummy cat with 2 kittens for a week already
(they are strays). I found them at the parking lot in my residential
area. Yesterday, one of the kitten doesnt notice that it has been
playing far from it’s mummy and was crying loudly. Luckily I found the
kitten after I went back from work and I brought the kitten to it’s
mummy. I was very worried since the management of this area strictly
doesnt allows a...

Yoshee Undergoes “training” 16th May 2012, by AnimalCare
Sree called this evening to say that the vet has offered to train Yoshee, and at the same time, observe her healing at the clinic for a few more days. There are also no other dogs at the clinic right now except for the clinic’s resident blood-donor dog so there is no danger of Yoshee picking up any dog-diseases.
It sounds a good idea, especially when the vet says it is better for Yoshee to be trained before going to Sree’s mother-in-law. Yoshee is smart, so it wouldn’t be so ha...

A Nice Little Boot For Sunshine! 15th May 2012, by AnimalCare
As you know, Sunshine is AnimalCare’s rescue case (and probably the last one since we have no shelter or fosterer to place rescued animals in). We have still been unable to find a home for Sunshine, so until that happens, we will continue sponsoring Sunshine’s physical and medical needs as much as we can. What Lydia does for Sunshine is something no money can buy, so we can only offer our utmost gratitude to Lydia for it.
I have offered to give a small modest subsidy for SunshineR...

So, It’s Back To Us Now… 15th May 2012, by AnimalCare
It’s called the empty nest syndrome, but it isn’t empty because I’ve got my whole colony with me…
The boss himself.
Indy, Cow and Bobby.
That’s Cleo up on the shelf.
Pole – she eats at odd times.
Tiger
Baggy seems to like this Clubhouse shelf a lot. Maybe she likes the scent of the white flowers.
My daughter, Ming-Yi bought these new toys for the cats. The mice have catnip in them and so does the caterpillar (but only in the head).
It...

Speaking With Kak Yam, Cat-Rescuer From Muar 15th May 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/05/15/kak-yam-c at-rescuer-and-caregiver-in-muar-johor/
Kak Yam called this afternoon and we had a long chat on the phone. She told me a lot about the rescue work that she does. To cut a long story short, Kak Yam works at the welfare department in Muar and here’s a heartening piece of news. Her boss is also an animal-lover and they have a special room in the Warga Mas (senior citizens) section which is used to neuter cats. Isn’t that nice? So, Kak Y...

Follow-Up Subsidy Claim For Puppy (Sharon Elizabeth Tan Tai Ching) 15th May 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/04/04/subsidy-f or-puppy-sharon-elizabeth-tan-tai-chings/
With reference to the above case where the puppy was treated for Intestinal Intussusception, there is a further bill from another clinic for RM718.60. However, the bulk of the bill is for 35 days of boarding, which we do not subsidise unless it is for the purpose of medical treatment which requires boarding. There is also a charge for bath and grooming which we do not subsidise.
Hence, as per our policy...

Visiting Yoshee After Surgery 15th May 2012, by AnimalCare
These are Yoshee’s leftover food, so I’m giving it all to Sree since it’s bought for Yoshee anyway. I thought she would be staying until Saturday (the initial plan) so I had stocked up on food for her.
This is the chicken stew I made yesterday. It’s chicken (thigh, keel, skin, liver and heart), carrot, celery and kelp. I added brown rice as well.
And the snack Nandhini bought for her.
The surgery went very well. Sree assisted the vet in the surgery. From the vet&...

Subsidy For RayRay, Rescued Kitten From The Street (Jason And Tan Powie’s) 15th May 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2011/05/16/injured-k itten-found-in-the-middle-of-the-road-sent-for-tre atment/
This story goes back to 16th May 2011 when a student from my college, Jason and his girlfriend, Powie, found a small kitten in the middle of the road. The kitten was brought to our (then) panel vet, and was found to have umbilical hernia. Surgery was recommended for the hernia as well as amputation of the tail, but only after the kitten has grown bigger.
To cut a very long story short, J...

Yoshee’s Surgery Went Well 15th May 2012, by AnimalCare
Sree called me this morning, and I drove Yoshee to the clinic, with her toy, of course.
She was initially reluctant to get into the car. She doesn’t seem to be too happy with getting into a car. Instead, she led me to the gate, thinking we would be going for a walk (I had her leash on). Even her toy failed to entice her into the car.
So I carried her in and put her in the backseat, with her toy.
Sitting obediently as I looked back while we stopped at the traffic lights.
Sree ...

Good Morning, Yoshee! 15th May 2012, by AnimalCare
I got up at 5am this morning. I had made a new batch of home-cooked food last night, and it was too hot to be blended, but I decided not to do it this morning as Yoshee might smell the food.
Last night, I gave Yoshee supper at 11pm and that would be the last meal for now since she has to be fasted for 8 hours for today’s spaying. I removed her water at 12 midnight.
So, this morning, I quietly fed my brood first, trying my best not to attract Yoshee’s attention. I could already hear t...

Yoshee Is Tabs-Friendly! 14th May 2012, by AnimalCare
Everyone is surely going to miss Yoshee tomorrow. But I really have no reason to keep her any longer and the sooner she bonds with her new family, the better it is for her.
I don’t want her to bond with us and then, have to adjust all over again with her new forever-family, but looks like it may be a little too late for that…
Jia-Wen really likes her a lot.
We’ve always fostered kittens in recent years and the last time we fostered a dog family was Selphie’s with her 9...

And Who Might The New Guest Be? 14th May 2012, by AnimalCare
The girls are seldom interested in happenings around the house, but today, they are.
Indy is uninterested.
That’s Baggy up there on the shelf. Today would be the first time she is lounging at the Clubhouse with the gang.
Pole is sharpening her claws. After all, you’ll never know when claws can come in handy.
Suddenly there was a sound on the neighbour’s roof and everyone was frozen.
Who’s that??
Two glowing eyes peep in.
Why, it’s one of the Snow W...

Yoshee’s Evening Walk And Dinner 14th May 2012, by AnimalCare
I’m amazed at how accurately the vet described Yoshee’s character on the day I picked her up (as a timid and frightened little dog) and brought her to the clinic for a check-up.
The vet said she “can be a naughty dog” because her eyes followed the vet’s every move.
To me at that time, I thought Yoshee was a very sad and timid dog and it would take at least a week to “rehabilitate” her.
Little did I know it only took minutes for her to regain her confiden...

Yoshee Will Be Adopted Tomorrow 14th May 2012, by AnimalCare
This morning, Ming-Yi left for work very early. Since she had to drive her car out of the porch, she must have let Yoshee into the house.
When I got up, to my surprise, Yoshee greeted me happily at my bedroom door! She had come all the way up all by herself.
As I drove to work after feeding everyone, Sree called me asking about Yoshee. She had discussed it with the vet who examined Yoshee on Saturday and the vet feels Yoshee is ready to be spayed since she appears to be very healthy (and happy t...

Kitten For Adoption (Pooi Chee Ling’s) 14th May 2012, by AnimalCare
From Chee Ling:
Hi Dr. Chan,
appreciate it if you could share this on your blog. I brought a dog to my vet for check up last weekend. My vet told me that they’ve got a kitten available for adoption. A rescuer had rescued the poor thing, which was attacked by other cats and now re-cuperating at the vet.
The vet asked if I could help out with finding someone to adopt the kitten. Attached is the picture of the kitten. Anyone who is interested can either email me at plchee@gmail.com or te...
