Zenning Up Bunny’s Place
19th May 2012, by AnimalCare

I love Zen spaces. It has lots of breathing space. And it only has “enough” and nothing more. Barest minimum. I am a confirmed minimalist at heart and in practice. So, this morning, I had some time-off and I decided to Zen up Bunny’s Place a bit. Paid a visit to the local departmental store and got two storage boxes to address a spraying problem and create more space in Bunny’s Place. This poor tree-trunk bench’s leg has been the target of Cow and Bunny’s spr...

What Is “meezer-Ing”, And The Tale Of The Malaysian Cat Now Living In Austria!
19th May 2012, by AnimalCare

Dr Susanna was here a few days ago and I told her all about Baggy’s shrieking when confronted by Cow. Dr S took one look at Baggy (who was also playing the perfect host, like Tabs, examining all of Dr S’s things) and said, “Of course she would. She’s part Siamese. They’re all drama queens!” Oh, so Baggy is part Siamese? I must confess I know absolutely NOTHING about breeds because it doesn’t matter to me, but it pays to know because certain breeds have s...

Updates On Yoshee
18th May 2012, by AnimalCare

I have been asking Sree about Yoshee and she is doing just fine. Yoshee is as happy as ever, says Sree. She delights in receiving visitors and is super-duper friendly to everyone. I did not visit Yoshee today as I believe there is a time where we must “let go” and respect the privacy of the adopter. At most, I will keep in contact by sms or ask for news when I meet Sree. If Sree provides photos, I’ll be most grateful, but I will not insist. Tomorrow, Yoshee will be going to her...

Protect Your Community Animals – Better Be Safe Than Sorry
18th May 2012, by AnimalCare

In light of the unfortunate bull terrier incident, I have received news from several sources that the local councils in certain areas in Selangor may be conducting big-scale dog-capturing operations very soon. Today’s news just received seems to indicate the PJ area this weekend. We urge all caregivers to take in your community animals (into your house compound) and also, please do not allow your pets to roam freely anywhere outside your house compound to prevent them from being captured. ...

Please Disclose All Facts Truthfully And Carefully Before Submitting A Claim To Us
18th May 2012, by AnimalCare

In light of a recent case where a rescuer had applied to several organisations for financial aid for the same bills without disclosing this multiple claim to us (despite a clause in our form which requires this disclosure), we wish to now gently remind all applicants to please disclose the facts HONESTLY when applying for claims from our fund. On our subsidy forms, there is a clause that says: Are you also applying to other organizations for subsidy for this case?  If so, please state the name ...

16th May 2012, by AnimalCare

Please help, if you can. From: Malin B. Erikson connect@malinberikson.com Message: Dear AnimalCare, I have a problem that I do not know how to solve. A friend gave told me about you and I thought you may be able to help me. Our family is leaving Malaysia for UK and we feel it wouldn’t be fair to bring our two dear cats, Findus and Sahara, with us. Three reasons for this: 1. The long flight in a small box. 2. We’ll live in a town in UK where the landlord does not want us to keep the c...

Another New Guest?
16th May 2012, by AnimalCare

I recently heard from an acquaintance that Mr G’s house has “a lot of cats”. This is not surprising if all the cats there are not neutered. However, I also heard details about why the cats could be poisoned by its next-door neighbour. It could be indiscriminate disposal of the cats’ poo or the fact that there are too many cats and they roam freely in the neighbourhood. Some people find this annoying, unfortunately. So far we have seen quite a number of cats from Mr G̵...

Helping Bubu With Acupuncture Treatment (Maslinda Abu Talib’s)
16th May 2012, by AnimalCare

Maslinda told me she was interested to send one of her community cats, Bubu, for acupuncture treatment under Dr Susanna. Bubu is suspected to have a bladder problem and his hind leg is affected. He has been sent to the vet’s, but there does not seem to be much improvement so far, so it is definitely worth trying out acupuncture for Bubu. Dr Susanna has been very kind to offer a 50% discount to Maslinda since she is a recommended rescuer and caregiver, and Bubu went for his first treatment...

Visiting Yoshee At The Clinic
16th May 2012, by AnimalCare

Since Yoshee will be at the clinic until Saturday, I thought I’d bring some food for her and visit her as well. When I reached the clinic, Yoshee had already gone for a walk this morning. Sree has decided to put her entirely on kibble so it’s best she is not given anymore home-cooked food. Yesterday, Yoshee finished off her kibble (the Canine Caviar I brought). Yoshee was incredibly happy to see me, or for that matter, according to the vet, she is incredibly happy to see anyone! A ve...
