Rottweiler For Adoption (Joanne Wong’s)
4th Sep 2012, by AnimalCare

From: Joanne Wong joanne.msi@gmail.com Message: Hi Dr Chan, I am writing to request for help of rehoming a pet that we love a lot. You probably ask if we love the pet a lot, why then do we need to rehome. It all started with a robbery by the infamous Indian Myvi Parang gang that happened to my family and I right at the gate of our house at Taman SEA on Aug 12. After the incident, we take a good hard look at the statistics of the area, a student was slashed in front of our house 2-3 yrs ago. Ther...

There are many, many adult animals waiting for adoption at our local shelters. If you are looking for a pet, consider...

This is a heart-wrenching photo of an owner singing to his pet dog before it passed away: http://imgur.com/gallery/KwTpC The suspected cause of death was the doggie treat.

4th Sep 2012, by AnimalCare

Here’s another happy owner who has seen the results of giving home-cooked food to her cats. From Lynn Yap: Dear Dr. Chan, I am writing to thank you for introducing and encouraging owners to cook for their pets. Here is my experience with home cooked pet food so that you can tell more people to do so. Our old cat Misty is nearly 12 years old in human years. We used to feed her kibbles and she was losing weight and hair despite eating a lot. We didn’t know what to do and thought it was...

Baggy And Lucas Enjoy The Sunshine
1st Sep 2012, by AnimalCare

Hello everyone, here I am enjoying the sunshine this morning with my old friend, Lucas. Lucas is a dog, like Uncle Bobby. Baggy still has some way to go to build back her health. As we all know, FeLV can be a very serious condition. There is nothing much that veterinary science can offer that we have not already done. “Drugging” Baggy on a long term basis is also not a very good option as the drugs have harmful side effects. She is already off steroids now and there may be a tempor...

I Met Baggy Today!
30th Aug 2012, by AnimalCare

Andy brought little Baggy for a check-up today and I met them at the vet’s.  Hi, little Baggy-Waggy! Baggy’s weight remained stable at 2.85kg. She is still anaemic, which was expected, as she is FeLV+ and it would definitely take time for her to build back her health. But as it is now, Baggy is eating well, her urination and defecation are normal and she is happy, which is what all of us want for ourselves, isn’t it? We all live with some imperfections in life and somehow, o...

Lovely The Cat For Adoption (Ng Chen Chen’s)
30th Aug 2012, by AnimalCare

Here’s a really lovely cat, named Lovely, for adoption, from Ng Chen Chen: Lovely was a stray around my area. My neighbours and I took her in about mid-July for spaying. After getting to know her better, we find that we do not have the heart to release her back to her street because she is absolutely adorable. It would be such a shame because she’s got the most loving and lovely character (from a human perspective). But finding a home for her has been very tough. For more than a mont...

Treating And Looking After A Sporo Cat (a Sharing From Fenton Yong)
30th Aug 2012, by AnimalCare

Recently, we had a query on treating and looking after sporo cats. Here is a sharing from Fenton Yong. The Cat Condition: Sporo has spread to all over his body. His right front leg (paw) was the worst and the private vet even suggested to have it amputated (the surface flesh has already been consumed by this fungal and they are spreading fast). Left front leg has also sporo wound, both hind legs condition were also quite serious. His tail has quite a lot of wounds too (at least 45 to 50%), he ...
