Le Viva Event, Day Two
9th Sep 2012, by AnimalCare

Today was Day Two. Our volunteers for the day were Szetoo Weiwen and Winnie Low.  We had a good time chatting with visitors to our booth and explaining how we can all work together to help the street animals. Some of the visitors were our blog readers and some were applicants who have benefited from our funds. It was nice to finally meet the familiar names and now, at least there is a face to each name when we next correspond.  Visitors came in our tshirts! Some had bought our tshirts in pas...

9th Sep 2012, by AnimalCare

Today was Day One of the Le Viva event at Viva Home Mall, Cheras. Our volunteers for today were Mary, Chun Eng, Bernice and Donovan. Viva Home Mall’s Expo Hall is large and VERY spacious. I was so thankful for the space! We were bright and early and our booth was set up before opening time. But who was also as bright and early and graced all the booths with his visit?  THE Man of the People – Datuk Michael Chong. He is someone I truly respect very, very much as he has done so much...

Baggy Passes On To Rainbow Bridge, Reunited With Baloo And Uncle Bobby Now
8th Sep 2012, by AnimalCare

While we were at the Le Viva event today, Andy texted me the sad news that Baggy had passed away. It was 6.36pm in the evening. Emily had brought Baggy with her back home and after reaching home and settling Baggy in, Baggy threw a seizure and shortly after, passed away peacefully. Ever since Baggy’s last visit to the vet, she started deteriorating. A few days ago, her appetite also dwindled and she seemed less active. Then, she started defecating and urinating outside her litter box. Andy...

Bobby’s Ashes Are Back Home Now
7th Sep 2012, by AnimalCare

Pet Memorial Services brought Bobby’s ashes back to us this morning. Scattering the ashes at sea is the normal practice, but for Bobby, we think we ‘d prefer to bury his ashes scattered in our back garden. Bobby has always been so close to us and the cats. By interring his ashes in our back garden, at least he will still be home, in a symbolic way. He would still be near us and be with his cat friends.   So, we will inter his ashes here. Whenever the cats lounged at the Clubhouse...

More Gerbils Adopted! (Dr Veeranoot Nissapatorn’s)
7th Sep 2012, by AnimalCare

In March this year, we published gerbils for adoption from the laboratories in University Malaya. Dr Veeranoot Nissapatorn, a lecturer in its Medical Faculty, felt sorry for the many, many gerbils that would be euthanised when there are no longer useful for the laboratories, so we took a long shot and publicised them for adoption. Every little life saved is still a precious life saved, no matter how small. http://myanimalcare.org/2012/03/27/would-yo u-like-to-adopt-some-gerbils-and-save-them-fro...

All evening, Tiger was mewing for Bobby. It was not his usual mewing sound. This was different and we understood. Tiger was looking for Bobby. Flashback:  Tiger usually spent the evenings with Bobby.  The big cats (Cow, Bunny & Tiger) always accompanied Bobby. But this evening, Tiger could not find Bobby…. So he mewed at the grille and he would not stop until we came into the room to talk to him.  Bobby is not here anymore, Tiger.  Bobby has gone to a better place and he is not...

Bobby’s Last Rites And Send-Off
6th Sep 2012, by AnimalCare

The living has to continue living. Responsibilities have to be carried out. I still had to go to work today or 36 students would have come to college for nothing. Luckily my husband could stay back until 10.30am before leaving for work and my mother could come over so Bobby would not have to be left alone. I had arranged with James Kho (or Pet Memorial Services) to do the last rites for Bobby. James did Vixey’s and Mac’s some years ago. He is an extremely compassionate and kind-heart...

In Loving Memory Of Bobby (October 1996 – 6th September 2012)
6th Sep 2012, by AnimalCare

As Bobby lay resting peacefully by my side now with his feline friends beside him, I want to celebrate his wonderful life and everything he had done for us through the years. This is my pictorial tribute to Bobby.  November 1996        Bobby’s first encounter with kittens, Cow, Bunny and Pole.  What makes a male dog so compassionate to tiny kittens?  It was something very natural in Bobby.  When Tiger first came, the rest bullied him, so Bobby protected little T...

Bobby Passes Away (October 1996 – 6th September 2012)
6th Sep 2012, by AnimalCare

Bobby passed away peacefully in his sleep at about 3.30am this morning. Yesterday morning, at 5am, he threw another seizure. We managed to stop the seizure using the icepack and diazepam. I fed him a good breakfast after that and he was still able to walk around, though a little disorientated. All afternoon, he slept. By evening, I tried to feed him dinner, but he did not want to eat anymore. He vomited a little bit of digested food after that and slept on. I checked on him many times throughout...
