A Request From Pak Din (help Needed) 18th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
Pak Din (Nordin Hashim) comes under our Food Fund. He is 64 years old, unemployed and has no proper home. Pak Din lives in Gombak in a make-shift shack (which our reader, Connie James, very kindly refurbished for him recently). Although he barely has enough for himself, he looks after the stray dogs and cats in his community despite being ostracised because of cultural prejudices (against dogs) in this community.
Pak Din’s plight was highlighted to me by my friend, Chew Teng Ngin. Mr Chew ...

A Heartwarming Tale Of A Cat Adopting Her Human Family (Melanie Tong’s) 17th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
Here is something very nice to share. It’s from Melanie Tong, someone who chanced upon our blog:
Hi Kah Yein,
A 7-month-old, female cat just adopted my family. We are new at caring for cats. I was given your contact so I could ask about shots, deworming, neutering and diet. And where we can go to for help. I’d really appreciate it.
I just saw your page. You have a heart of gold. May you be blessed many fold in return!
Thanks,
Mel
Isn’t that nice? So I replied and sent Melanie...

As The Day Ends… 17th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/10/17/very-urge nt-doghunt-tomorrow-in-pj-please-protect-your-dogs /
Ah, as the day ends now, I dearly hope all our animals are safe and sound.
We would all do well to always keep our animals safe from the possible dangers lurking out there.
As my post said (and very clearly too), it was just a tip-off and I was not sure whether it was reliable or not, but it pays to be on the alert.
A few days ago, a friend’s dog was captured. He was devastated. If only ...

On A Hot Day….it’s BATHTIME!! 17th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
Whenever my husband goes off to work, Bosco (and now, even Raven) comes into the house. They know when they can come in…(shh).
This afternoon, Bosco was comfortably sitting on the sofa next to me. That’s when I noticed how “grey” his white patches were. It’s supposed to be white, but it’s all grey. Greasy, I think…
So, being such a hot day, I thought it might be good to….
…give Bosco a bath!
So I carried him, the poor guy was so, so trustin...

Products That Are Not Tested On Animals 17th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
Hi folks, as a follow-up to the post from PETA on refraining from using products that are tested on animals, here’s a sharing from me on what I use at home.
As far as I’m told, Amway products are not tested on animals. We use LOC for practically every sort of cleaning purpose and Dish Drops for the dishes but we’ve found that LOC is better at cleaning dishes than Dish Drops! LOC is really good as it is very economical and versatile. We can even wash our clothes with it. And it...

Are You Paying For Animal Testing? (from PETA) 17th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
This is from PETA:
Are you paying for tests on animals? For many compassionate people just like you, the answer could unintentionally be yes. Right now many unsuspecting consumers are purchasing products from companies that continue to conduct cruel—and entirely unnecessary—tests that will cost countless animals their lives.
This includes some corporations that have publicly stated that they are against animal tests! Major companies like Revlon, Avon, Mary Kay, and Estée Lauder have gone ba...

When Justice Is Tempered With Mercy And Compassion 17th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
This story is shared by my friend, Bugs Tan. The original source is here: http://buddhistbugs.blogspot.com/2012/10/wh en-justice-is-tempered-with-mercy.html (reproduce d below)
Can we hope for the same when an animal case comes up? Can we think creatively to turn things around when it concerns our much down-trodden and defenseless animal friends? Let’s think out of the box, friends.
Read on and rejoice that kindness still exists and judges too can be “creative” in court!
It...

VERY URGENT: Doghunt In PJ On 17th October (please Protect Your Dogs) 17th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
Dear all,
We just received an anonymous tip-off that there might be a massive doghunt in the Petaling Jaya area today (17th October). Whether the source is reliable or not, it pays to be on the alert. Please keep your community dogs indoors where they are safe. Please do not allow your petdogs (or cats) to roam freely outside your house compound.
The best would be to keep your dogs and cats inside your house, if that’s possible.
The dog and cat pound for MBPJ is PAWS Animal Shelter. If you...

30 Bags Of Dogfood For Mdm Hoo’s Dogs 16th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
Sometime last week, my cousin gave me the contact of Ms Caren Nah who was looking for organisations to contribute dogfood to. Ms Caren Nah got me in touch with Mr Ivan Soon of K9 Pets Sdn Bhd in Penang, the sole distributor and importer of Diamond Pet Foods USA in Malaysia (www.k9pets.com.my) and I learnt that K9 Pets was interested in giving out dogfood to charitable organisations.
I sent Mr Ivan Soon our list of Food Fund recipients and explained what we do – that we supply petfood to 7 ...

Mr G Returns…with A Vengeance? 16th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
I had not seen Mr G for quite awhile ever since Bosco and Raven “took over” our front porch as their territory. But every night, I would hear a huge cat-fight outside on the porch. I am quite sure it would be between Mr G and Bosco. Oh well, we can’t blame the old man. After all, our garden had been his territory for the last 10 months and even before we moved in.
Wait a minute, does that mean we invaded Mr G’s territory and he is actually the rightful owner of our land? ...

From Rosie’s Diaries 16th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
Dear Diary,
My name is Rosie and I was born in this community.
I was spayed sometime last year. I think it means I won’t have any babies anymore, which is fine for me, because I see tiny kittens dying on the road or not having enough food to eat and their poor mothers (like my own mother) have to take them to new places all the time.
So, I’m really happy living here. They call me a “community cat”. I don’t know what that means, but let me tell you about a day in m...

So Early? 16th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
After a much needed one-week break from classes, the semester resumes again this week and my mornings begin before sunrise.
Of course, as always, all 7 of my cats will be waiting at the grille and they wait with eager anticipation of what food I’d be bringing in for breakfast.
Oh…home-cooked today?
Well, okay….We’ll humour you and well, eat a bit of it….
Only Bunny, Pole and Cleo eats home-cooked. The rest might humour me a bit, but Indy definitely does NOT like hom...

And so, I got myself a copy of your book, ‘Do We Have A Choice’ and I just finished reading it today. The reason I’m writing this e-mail is because I want to thank you ...
