We Have 3 New Keychain Designs!
17th Mar 2013, by AnimalCare

My mother who is 80 years old, in between looking after my bed-ridden father, still finds the time to make keychains for our fundraising. She gets her materials from various stores in KL and recently, she produced three new designs… A little girl, a blue teddy bear and a pink teddy bear! Cute, aren’t they? If you’d like to order: http://myanimalcare.org/gifts/ They will be on sale (by donation) at our booths too. Just the other day, a reader told me that one of our applicants...

Another Dishonest Applicant
17th Mar 2013, by AnimalCare

A few days ago, another case of gross dishonesty of one of our applicants was highlighted to us. We investigated further and found more proof of this applicant’s dishonesty which involved doing multiple claims, cheating and telling blatant lies. After we started investigating, we have now received reports from several different sources confirming this applicant’s dishonesty. Generosity is a very Malaysian trait and there would be those unsuspecting good-hearted people out there who w...

Bunny Is Still Limping
17th Mar 2013, by AnimalCare

The slight improvement is that at least Bunny joined the rest for meals yesterday. A moment…for Cleo and Tiger. But yesterday afternoon, a funny thing happened. Bunny called at the grille, “saying” he wanted to come out. So, we let him out and after hobbling around the dining area, he hobbled upstairs (yes, on three legs, poor thing) but we thought we should let him try instead of carrying him up. At least he gets some exercise as he had been sleeping a bit too much and that&#...

Mr Quack Is Doing Well!
16th Mar 2013, by AnimalCare

It’s been sometime since we last heard from Mr Quack’s adopter. Well, here is his latest photo. According to the adopter, Mr Quack is doing well and has not been aggressive to cats. However, he is still not friendly to humans. He is socializing more with the cats and now hangs out at the living area instead of just under my bed. However, he still has problem with humans. Hi Mr Quack!!

Bunny’s News
16th Mar 2013, by AnimalCare

I removed Bunny’s e-collar after a few hours because I could see how uncomfortable it was for him and I do understand that stress does NOT help in recovery. In fact, it is detrimental to recovery. Moreover, I consulted another vet on Bunny’s case and he felt that the antibiotics ought to be enough. He didn’t even think the iodine and cream would be necessary. Cats will lick, he said. And the e-collar is very stressful on any animal. I agree on both counts. By the way, the firs...

Vaccination For The Patio Family
16th Mar 2013, by AnimalCare

I had been battling with the idea of whether I should get the Patio Family vaccinated. After all, the cat community here is controlled and the area is not heavily populated, unlike my old neighbourhood. In that sense, my area is not what one would call a “high risk” environment, as opposed to a confined or heavily populated area (like in a shelter, for eg). I’m sure you know about the anti-vaccination theory and how vaccinations do carry risks. Well, all vaccines do. I myself a...

It Took FOUR People To Manage Bunny At The Vet’s
15th Mar 2013, by AnimalCare

The morning started with breakfast in bed for Bunny. His appetite is intact, so that’s not so worrying.  Bunny did not want to walk, so I carried him to the garden so that he could do his pee and poo. He urinated, but quickly went to hide in the rattan trunk. Tiger kept him company.  The rattan trunk is all broken, but it’s the cats’ “safe haven”, so we kept it for them. Broken to us, but it’s security for them. On his own, he went to defecate. That...

Poor Bunny…
14th Mar 2013, by AnimalCare

Bunny must have sprained his paw yesterday as we noticed he was limping slightly. But this evening, it took a turn for the worse and he limped even more. All morning and afternoon, he seemed well. It was already 8pm when we noticed it and the vet had already closed. He kept licking the paw. It’s the right paw and it is slightly swollen.  Poor Bunny… I was really worried, so I gave him Vetri DMG to be on the safe side. We checked his arm and could not find any wounds. I suspect it...

Indy On The Warpath And The Tshirt Peace Resolution
14th Mar 2013, by AnimalCare

Indy was caught bullying Cleo yesterday…  Oh no!  Poor Cleo…look at her ears. But I know Cleo can certainly defend herself.  At this point, I intercepted and broke up the fight because Indy was about to charge already.  Bunny wasn’t interested in the fight, though. The Boss. Seeing how vicious he has become, I took up the suggestion of letting him wear his tshirt again…  Hmm….this again?  Having the tshirt on somehow (or am I imagining it?) subdued him...
