Indy’s Day Out!
3rd Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

Since we were home all day today, we thought we should let Indy out of Bunny’s Place as “compensation” for removing his launching pad and thereby removing his only avenue for fun and adventure. But of course, Tabs was quick to sneak out first…  A game of hide-and-seek in progress.  We let Tiger out as well! After all, these are the three “individuals” who do not have family, so to speak. So, the Cow Family remained inside (Cow, Bunny, Pole and Cleo) and ev...

Another Pleasant Encounter At The Side Alley Stall
3rd Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

About a month ago, I wrote this: http://myanimalcare.org/2013/03/02/a-lovely -little-encounter-at-the-side-alley-stall/ Today, my husband went to the stall again to look for a stainless steel bowl and had another pleasant encounter with the man who sells his wares. He had already finished reading my (bilingual) book, Here for a Reason, and wanted to return the book to me. My husband told him he could keep  the book or pass it on to his friends. Since I lacked the Cantonese vocabulary to explai...

Poor Indy…
2nd Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

Indy had been quite unhappy all day ever since we “tore down” his launching pad this morning. I don’t blame him. Just as he had found something so exciting and adventurous, we had to curb and literally destroy his newfound hobby, ambition and achievement. That would be quite a blow on any teenager…like Indy. I hope we can somehow make it up to him… Hopefully he finds something new to do, something that won’t endanger his life. Looking at his fallen launching ...

“The Corner Of The Great Escape” – Dismantled…or So We Think?
2nd Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

First thing this morning…  Indy was let out of the condo and he made a beeline to “the Corner”, with Bunny in tow. The shelf got to go, also because my contractor says there is a major delay with the polycarbonate…sigh. We just cannot risk Indy making another grand escape.  I brought Indy inside so that he didn’t have to suffer the heartache of seeing his shelf “go”. Sobs…sorry, Indy ol’ pal.  Pole thinks someone is chasing her. Poor Po...

The Midnight Spider-Cat Watch
2nd Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

This is clearly a case of OCD, isn’t it? Indy was staring at the “Corner of the Great Escape” all night.  At around 11pm, he finally got some rest, but only in this basket, facing the “Corner of the Great Escape”.  Cow was blissfully unaware of the goings-on outside. Pole/Dory thought “someone” was chasing her again and created quite a scene. By 1am, I decided to bring Indy into the room and lock the window so that he would be confined in the roo...

The 9.00pm Spider-Cat Report
1st Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

I have been checking every few minutes. Yes, call me paranoid…because I am.  The 5pm check: All poofed out from the whining.  The 5.30pm check: Still poofed out. 6pm: Private dining.  Evening sojourn.  The Dorying appears to have stopped. 7pm check: All the girls are hanging out in the room. The boys are outside. I know from his body language, he hasn’t given up.  8pm check: Indy wonders what I am doing. I’ve decided to fortify the security. These pails are fille...

All Peaceful Outside
1st Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

Mr G is a regular at meal-times these days. All is peaceful at the patio. There are no fights, except for Timmy trying to get to everyone’s food because he eats at lightning speed.  Licking every platter clean, Timmy?  Timmy has no where to go. This is his home. He is really, really good-natured and very well-behaved. He’s just extremely hungry most of the time (but he is dewormed). A natural big-eater, I would say.  My G still hangs out at the Stargate after meals.  He h...

Pole Goes All-Dory
1st Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

About once every month, Pole goes “Dory” for a few days. That’s when she dashes all over in a make-believe game of being chased by “someone”. We call it the “Dory Syndrome”, after the Dory character in Finding Nemo.  Someone’s after me!!  She hid under the bench, and is now coming out, but with great caution. (Actually, nobody is chasing her at all.)  Cleo watches her mum, a bit confused. Pole does this about once a month, so we are quite used...

Suffering Is…
1st Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

…when there is an electrical power outage (failure), which was what happened from around 11am today until a few minutes ago. That’s when we comfort ourselves by saying that a water cut would be much worse…wouldn’t it? (You can’t flush the toilet, yucks!) At least we’ve still got water, right? We can always fan ourselves by using a cardboard. And yes, the internet’s out, because the router is out. The fan is out and the lights are out (luckily it’s ...
