Neutering Sponsorship For 1 Male Cat From Skudai, Johor (Norshahadah Bt Rusli’s)
18th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

Norshahadah works at a “gerai makanan” (food stall) in Skudai, Johor, with her mother and she looks after the community cats around that area. We fully sponsored the spaying of a female cat previously and we have now fully sponsored RM80 for the neutering of a male cat. All in all, Norshah says she has already got 10 cats neutered so far. She is feeding about 18 cats. We have encouraged her to get all of them neutered to stop the breeding, and we would be happy to subsidise as per ou...

Mr G And Willy-O
18th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

Breakfast was as usual this morning at the patio…  Mr G is a permanent guest for breakfast and dinner. Note: Timmy is already eyeing Ginger’s bowl. Then, my husband said someone was outside the gate…  Aww…poor Willy Orange. Vincent (Starry) won’t let him in so he sits outside at the culvert and waits patiently.  I leave a bowl outside and just when Willy plucked up enough courage to come to the bowl…  Mr G came out to confront him. Willy ran away…...

Cleo’s Nest
18th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

Cleo made a little nest for herself this evening…  Is this cute or what?  Mother, Pole, tried to take daughter’s nest. The attempt failed.  Me and my nest. After two hours… Maybe the European Calico up there is protecting Cleo and her nest! No more attempts at nest-jacking.

Some Patio Family Photos
18th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

Ginger taking up his sentry post and Timmy at this (now upgraded) dustbin compartment.  For once (and this a very rare sight), the son is grooming the mum! Normally, it is the other way around.  Mother-and-daughter’s favourite nightly sojourn. Sometimes, son joins them too and you’ll find a delightful sight of the family of three on top of the car! Starry Starry has a new name now. My son decided he should be called ‘Vincent” (reminiscent of the song “Vincen...

Spaying Subsidy For 1 Female Cat (now RIP) (Amy Lee Sew Tin/Agnes Cheong Yoke Lan’s)
17th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

We have subsidised RM100 for the spaying of this female cat, which is Amy Lee’s first case of CNRM. It is most unfortunate that the cat passed away after the operation due to unforeseen underlying (suspected liver) problems. We hope this incident will not discourage Amy Lee from continuing with doing CNRM on the rest of her community cats. Sometimes, we do our very best, but there are some things which are indeed beyond our control. We hope Amy finds comfort in knowing this. We also thank ...

The Fable Of The Porcupine
17th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

Here’s a sharing from Jasmine Ong: The Fable of the Porcupine It was the coldest winter ever. Many animals had died because of the cold. The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together to keep warm. This way they would protect each other; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions. After a while, they decided to distance themselves one from the other but they realized they would die, alone and frozen. So they had to make a choice: either accept the quill...

Vet Helps To Catch The Puchong Dog (Kwan Pei Kuan’s)
16th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

Update at 8.15pm: The vet and Pei Kuan did not manage to catch the dog. Pei Kuan was feeding the dog and all was well, but when the vet and his assistant approached, the dog ran away. I’ve sent Pei Kuan a link on how to catch the dog by sliding a loop over the head slowly when the dog is busy eating. Let’s hope it will work. Meanwhile, if you are able to help catch the dog, please contact Pei Kuan directly on 016-6123250. The original post:  Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2013/04/15/...

What’s Happening At Bunny’s Place (and More Escape Stories)?
16th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

Ever since the polycarbonate went up and the two shelves went down (and got reinstalled in a different place), here’s what has been happening at Bunny’s Place.  Indy claimed the new sentry post on the day it was installed. Tiger investigated the new Jungle Walk.  The rest of the infrastructures and its popularity remain unaffected.  Bunny also took up sentry duty.  And so did Cow. Looks like this sentry post can now be called the “Senior Sentry Post”. Note: the c...

Father Frank Mann’s Awakening To Compassion For Animals
16th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

Simple words and a profound sharing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ekOPyXGs 3Q&feature=youtu.be Quote: We are here to make a difference to the lives of others.  Father Frank Mann’s sharing of his experiences is something that all of us encounter every day. The billboard, the calf in the lorry and live fish in the overcrowded aquarium in the restaurant – don’t we also see this often? Sometimes, we take these experiences for granted. Sometimes we brush them off, refusing ...

Kina The Cat, Parvo-Survivor (a Sharing)
15th Apr 2013, by AnimalCare

A few weeks ago, a friend contacted me regarding a community cat from her neighbourhood, Kina, who had recently been spayed, but had come down with parvovirus. The condition was quite critical then. Kina was hospitalised, on treatment, but I suggested to try RetroMAD1 as well since it has been proven beneficial in parvo cases (on dogs and cats). A long story cut short, Kina survived and is thriving now! Here is the story: The family started feeding Orpee, a stray mom-cat sometime last year. She...
