Tiger To The Rescue Again!!
2nd Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2013/07/02/two-cat-w ars-averted-phew/ Just this afternoon, we witnessed Tiger standing in between the two warring black-and-whites, Cow and Indy, and stopping a fight. Was that just a coincidence? I verify: NO, it was NOT a coincidence. Take a look at what happened just now…. Cow was relaxing, minding his own business. Soon, Indy came along and for no apparent reason, started growling at Cow. The moment the growling started. Tiger jumps down from the shelf...

Keeping Mr Zurik Company
2nd Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Poor Mr Zurik sometimes lets out a whine. I understand…it’s so boring being in the cage when he must feel well already. And it’s lonely too, being alone at the patio. So we keep him company… Er…everyone, not like this. Don’t look at Mr Zurik like he’s a circus exhibit, please. Let’s just all relax and chill out here with him, shall we? Poor thing… Meanwhile, Vincent isn’t here. I heard two cat whinings outside in the porch already. He...

Two Cat-Wars Averted…phew!
2nd Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Vincent comes back to the patio for mealtimes, but still refuses to eat with everyone else, so I have to feed him at the pillar. He refuses to eat anywhere else but at the pillar. Ginger accompanies his friend as he eats. I think Ginger is trying to make peace (remember Ginger started bullying Vincent when the latter had that small paw injury). Daffodil is watching too. Meanwhile, Mr Zurik is fine and dandy. I really felt like releasing him, the poor dear, being caged for 6 days now. SighR...

Kelly & Jacinta’s Shelter In Tanjung Rambutan And Their Facebook Page
2nd Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

We started helping Kelly & Jacinta in 2011 because a friend from Ipoh told us about their work and Kelly herself called me to ask for financial assistance as she was in dire straits at that time. That was before we had policies in place. Some months back, our committee decided that we have to follow strictly to our policies of only helping individual needy (and responsible) caregivers and not groups, shelters or organisations. Hence, we explained this to Kelly and Jacinta and told them we wi...

Sometimes…
2nd Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Yesterday, I received a call from a lady asking for help for her stray cat who has a serious illness. The call came from the vet’s, so I took it thinking it was something serious.  AnimalCare does not have a phone service as I do not often take calls. I’m usually either in class, at some meeting, giving some talk or at choir practice, all of which does not permit me to take calls. Hence, we have no phone service. Only emails. However, since the call came from the vet’s clinic,...

Another New Cat On The Block?
1st Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

This evening, there was sound of cat aggression in the porch. When I looked out, I saw an Indy-like cat scuttle away while Ginger was looking on from atop the car. I think Vincent chased her away. According to my husband, this is a pavilion cat who is bullied by Rosie. She is fed by Francis at the pavilion and used to be Rosie’s friend previously. I think she has already been spayed though I cannot be sure. She’s a black-and-white cat, and looks like Indy from behind. Looks like she ...

Animals Can Be Hypnotised (it’s Also A Survival Skill For Chickens!)
1st Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Billy Tan shared these: Animals can be hypnotized too, it activates their catatonic reaction that leads to catalepsy. Watch this BBC clip: http://youtu.be/SMZDieZoing  (Note: Nothing scary in the above video, UNLESS you are scared of alligators.) How to Hypnotize a dog http://youtu.be/dsnw6P1F6oA   (Note: Nothing scary in this video, for sure!) A word of advice: We strongly urge you NOT to try any of these methods.  Our disclaimer holds.

“I Am Here” – A Project By Chilean Students
1st Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Take a look: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=576009 875782558 It is very touching and will move you to tears. The balloons were attached to the dogs only during filming. They were removed after that. The objective of the students was to bring awareness to the public of the presence of stray dogs on the street. They managed to get people patting and feeding the street dogs.

Vincent Starr Goes On A Hunger Strike!
1st Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Two days ago, Vincent did not appear at the patio with everyone. When I was feeding Willy at the culvert, Vincent suddenly appeared and wanted to eat together with Willy, so I brought out a bowl and fed him there. I didn’t think anything of it then. Thought maybe he just came back late. Yesterday, again, he did not appear at the patio for his meals. Instead, he stayed outside in the porch and I finally fed him at the pillar. He ate alone. Again, I thought nothing of it until this morning w...

Timmy’s 20% Diet – On Track!
30th Jun 2013, by AnimalCare

Timmy’s diet is on track! It was only the first day that he kept asking for more food. On the following day until now, he seems quite satisfied just eating whatever he has been given. But of course he tries to steal food from the rest (that’s already a habit) so careful monitoring is needed to ensure that no stealing and snatching happens. Am I any thinner yet? I don’t expect to see any results until after 1 1/2 months, Timmy. But you’ve been a good boy, eating less tha...
