“Civilisation” = Our Break With Nature And The Enslavement Of Animals
9th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Nothing beats the old-fashioned way of curling up on the chair with a good book. http://www.amazon.com/Longest-Struggle-Anim al-Advocacy-Pythagoras/dp/1590561066/ref=sr_1_4?s= books&ie=UTF8&qid=1373342857&sr=1-4&am p;keywords=norm+phelps Norm Phelps is my favourite writer on animal rights and protection. I know there are many, but perhaps I can relate to what he writes because he is Buddhist, hence, whatever he writes comes from the premise of compassion more than “correctness...

A Peace Conference In The Making?
9th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

We all KNOW that the Patio Family does NOT want to fight. We also KNOW that Indy does. So, this morning, during the rain, the Patio Family attempted to initiate a peace conference… As you can see, it’s headed by Daffodil, Rosie and Ginger, flanked on the sides by Timmy (left) and Vincent (right). Everyone is here. On Bunny’s Place’s side, Indy is the spokesperson. The meeting ended quite fast, though and er…I don’t know what was discussed but Vincent came int...

Mr Zurik, Willy And The Indy-Like Cat
9th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

The chronicles of Mr Zurik continues as he becomes a regular guest at the patio… The morning started with Mr Zurik and Vincent locking horns at the patio and the rest looking on. I had to break them up by offerings of food to all parties. Daffodil finished her meal quickly and went into the house for safety. Mr G remained on high ground. After all, he only comes to socialise. The rest had their breakfast. Mr Zurik was given two helpings…actually, just to prevent him from growlin...

Of Warring Cats!
9th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

As long as the Patio Family is around and what’s more, now with Mr Zurik coming regularly, Indy will not be happy. Well, he’ll just have to learn that life isn’t perfect and in time, he will have to accept that there are some thing that we cannot change. He has been going up the ledge to hound and stalk on the rooftop cats (Mr G’s friends). I’m not happy… Indy, are you not happy because other cats are around, or because you cannot roam like them? I’m ...

Little Things Matter So Much
9th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

It is said that we cannot change the world by helping ONE animal but we can certainly change the whole world for that one animal whom we help. This is none truer than what happened to my student three days ago. I received a text message from Kajen asking if I would like to adopt a puppy. Two photos were attached. I replied saying that I couldn’t because I already have my hands full. I suggested that he post it on PetFinder.my. After about an hour, Kajen replied that the puppy had already f...

What The Msian Organic Farmers Say
9th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Take a look: http://www.justlifeshop.com/organic-farms/ Quote: “Insects do not eat healthy plants, they only consume malnutritious vegetables and fruits. In fact, there is no pests, they are here to help us.” This reminds me what a vet once told me, that if your pet is healthy and given good nutrition, s/he will not have fleas or ticks. Or that if your child is given good nutrition, s/he will grow out of her/his allergies. All in good time, I suppose. Or, what a friend once told me abou...

Titan Indy Strikes Again!
8th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

I think it’s because of Mr Zurik. Or maybe it’s due to the misalignment of the stars? Whatever it is, Indy has gone cranky and has been picking fights with Cow and Bunny. Here are some photos of just how “titanic” Indy can be… Whine, whine, whine…growl, growl! Sigh…not again… I’m NOT happy….  I said I’m NOT happy!!!

Er…what Do You Actually Want, Mr Zurik?
8th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

His 10-day course of antibiotics is finished. We (kind of) found out that he has a “home” to return to. It’s one of the houses up our road. Each time, when he departs from our house after a meal, he goes back to this house up the road. So, maybe he is a pet there, or he just resides there? Mr Zurik is welcomed for meals, but we hope he will not growl at everyone. He also frightens Willy, but Willy is also frightened by the shrews, so… Mr Zurik came this morning. Willy...

“I’ll Always Watch Over You” (from Daffodil To Ginger)
8th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Daffodil is the epitome of a loving mum. Here are some photos taken over 2 days to show her devotion towards Ginger (whom we think is her youngest surviving child). According to Mukda, who has been feeding her for the last 10 years (unspayed), Daffodil gives birth every few months and is often seen carrying her kittens all over the neighbourhood. Some of her kitten have been run over by cars, some died. Looks like Rosie and Ginger are her only family left now. I managed to get her spayed this ye...
