Pole And Cleo’s Check-Up 5th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
Along with Indy, we also took Pole and Cleo to the vet’s today.
Now, this is a longer story….
Both don’t travel well in the car, especially Cleo.
Pole
Pole has been on subcut three times a week, so her creatinine (274 down to 218 today) and urea readings have come down, which is good (but still a bit high). However, her phosphate level is 1.89 (normal range is 1.00-2.42). Although it’s still normal, the vet prefers to bring it down to below 1.5.
Pole will continue with t...

Indy To The Vet’s (post Indy-Ginger Fight) 5th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
Indy went for his B12 jab today. Luckily I mentioned about the wounds from the Indy-Ginger fight because without even parting his fur, the vet could see that the skin around that area is all red and inflamed.
Oh dear….and we could not see a single thing and thought all was well!
The fur was shaven and it reveals two bite wounds and several scratches. The skin is inflamed and upon closer examination, the puncture wounds have closed up but an abscess might develop later, so Clavomox i...

Bunny Bright Eyes And Nice Paws!!! 5th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
Look at Bunny’s paws!!!!
That’s a classic “Tabs” pose!
And I must give full credit to Petdiatrics’ Ophtal for Bunny’s bright eyes. With a daily dose of Ophtal, the staining (discharge) from Bunny’s eyes has stopped.
Ophtal contains antioxidants which help with eye health and overall health too.

“It’s Not Over, Ginger….” 5th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
Watching Ginger….
Indy’s wound healed remarkably well. I’m surprised at how fast it healed. Was it the Biosilver spray? That was the only thing I applied onto his wound.
Funny, though, because previously the Biosilver has never really worked before…haha.
This goes to show that “there are more things in heaven and earth than is dreamt of in our philosophy”!
I cannot even find a single trace of his wound today!! Or am I looking in the wrong place?!!

The Raw Deal – Mr Kiasu’s Deal 5th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
So, Mr Kiasu just wants everything that everyone else is having.
He has been boycotting all his Chicken meals because he only wants the exotic meats.
Yesterday, I figured out a way to make him eat Chicken.
Just put a few piece of raw chicken fillet on top – that did the trick….yesterday.
He would eat up all the Cubgrub (grinded) Chicken after that. All it takes is a few pieces of chicken fillet on top….haha.
This morning, he only ate one piece of fillet, finished one b...

The Raw Deal – Cubgrub’s All-New Kidney Chicken 4th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
Thank you so much to Lin Li for taking an interest in her clients’ needs! Cubgrub has prepared a special Chicken recipe for kidney cats!
The bone in it is replaced by eggshell powder because bone has a higher content of phosphorus.
Although Bunny and Indy’s phosphate levels are still normal, I thought there’s no harm trying the new kidney food on them.
This is the all-new kidney Chicken from Cubgrub.
Indy loved it!
Bunny too!
No, Ginger, it’s not for you. You eat the ...

Neutering Aid For 1 Cat In USJ2, Subang Jaya (Ai Leen Lee’s) 4th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
We have provided an aid of RM100 for the spaying of this cat, Curry.
Ms Ai Leen Lee is a new applicant.
Dear Dr Chan
This is Curry, she is healing well.
Curry was about 2 months old when I found her in the drain
behind the mamak shop in USJ 2. She was drenched in curry wastes
and needed 7 baths before I got the grease off her.
She is such a pretty cat with awesome personality. We found a home
for her but by then we love her too much to give her up. She is about 13 months old now.

The Big Indy-Ginger Fight (poor Indy!) 3rd Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
Yes, Indy lost.
It all started when Indy tried a few times to trick me into letting him sneak into the house through his special window sill eating spot. He would ask for food and after I open the mosquito netting and place a bowl there and turn my back, he would sneak into the kitchen quietly.
He did it again later in the day, but this time, he rushed out through Bunny’s grille and made his way to the patio.
He’s been getting trips out to the patio to play so I opened the patio door...

The Raw Deal – Guess Who Eats Duck? 29th Nov 2019, by AnimalCare
Yes, guess who ate Duck today?
No…wrong! Guess again!
You’ll never guess…..
But before that, Ginger had been on strike all of yesterday and I now think I know why. Maybe he wasn’t demanding for his exotic meats. I was making a fresh batch of bone broth yesterday and you know how the aroma permeates throughout the house, especially when it takes more than 24 hours to brew a batch.
Ginger absolutely LOVES the boiled chicken from the bone broth. I know there’s ...

Indy’s “Fibor Stools” 29th Nov 2019, by AnimalCare
I woke up at 4am this morning and found Indy’s “Fibor stools”, buried in the sand.
The “Fibor stools” looked….different. And it isn’t exactly what I was hoping for.
The diameter of the stools was bigger than Indy’s usual ones. There was also a lot of it and it was foul-smelling. And the stools were completely SOFT (that’s not what we want).
It seems to me that there’s just more stools, that’s all.
Before we began the Fibor, Indy&...

Ginger: I WANT Whatever Indy Has 28th Nov 2019, by AnimalCare
Ginger’s insistence on wanting whatever Indy has is getting ludicrous.
Today, he boycotted THREE meals just so that he could have raw fillet. But he doesn’t know that even Indy has gone back to eating Cubgrub for a few meals now.
He doesn’t know that because when Indy eats at the window sill, it’s always a fillet meal, but I do feed Indy in the room too and that would be Cubgrub meal.
So yes, Ginger won today because I didn’t want him to go hungry. When I fina...

The Dog Blood Donor 28th Nov 2019, by AnimalCare
Late last night, a neighbour posted in our neighbourhood chatgroup that he needed a dog blood donor very urgently for his pet dog who is hospitalised.
Immediately, I thought of PAWS because previously, when Sihui’s dog, Brownie, needed a blood donor, PAWS offered their big and robust dogs. However, it was found that the dogs had underlying tick fever, so the dogs could not donate.
At the same time, Sihui’s sister posted an appeal on Facebook and a Ms Soo responded, offered her dogs a...

The Magic…..(Bunny’s Creatinine Level) – Thank You, Cubgrub!! 28th Nov 2019, by AnimalCare
I got Bunny’s blood test results today and I couldn’t believe my eyes!
His creatinine level went from 199 (in Sept 2019) to 134 (yesterday)! His urea also went down and his phosphate level is normal!!!!
And what did we do from Sept until now?
We only did one thing – put all the cats, including Bunny, on 100% raw food. Cubgrub!
No supplements. No medication. Continued with the subcut, of course. That’s all.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Cubgrub!!
Remember Indy’s c...

Muscle And Myth: Animal Vs Plant Protein 28th Nov 2019, by AnimalCare
I haven’t shared anything about nutrition for humans for a long time now.
Recently, I came across a theory (verified by a trusted friend-pharmacist-nutritionist) that humans with O blood group should eat meat (high protein) and those with A blood group should be vegetarians (high carbohydrates). The theory is really very interesting. It talks about how the O blood group are the “oldest” humans and these evolved into the A group, then B and finally, AB (the most evolved and &ldq...
