Spaying And Vaccination Subsidy For 1 Female Cat, Bulat (Siti Khadijah Mohd Yassin’s)
26th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

We have subsidised RM100 for the spaying and RM20 for the vaccination of Bulat, a cat cared for by Siti Khadijah. This subsidy comes from all donors through our Medical Fund (RM50) and Berjaya Cares (RM70). There was a bit of confusion here as Siti Khadijah is Marina Bakar’s (who also applied at the same time) aunt and Marina created the email account for her aunt, hence, it is in her name as well. But the confusion has been cleared with several phonecalls. We have explained to Khadijah th...

Beemageddon Happening And It’s Scary
26th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Please read this: http://qz.com/107970/scientists-discover-wh ats-killing-the-bees-and-its-worse-than-you-though t/ The bees are dying because of the use of pesticides and fungicides on the plants whose flowers they take pollen from. It is time to reflect upon the use of these toxic pesticides and fungicides which affects us directly because it is used on the plants that we consume. The meat-eaters would say, “There…we told you so! So, eat meat, it’s safer.” But wait a m...

Please Exercise Philanthropic Prudence When You Donate
26th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

It is rather coincidental that we received these two pieces of news yesterday and this morning and we would like to share it with all of you as it is a good reminder to all of us that as donors (or in our case, as a society that gives out subsidies), we must exercise philanthropic prudence, ie. to be careful and wise in giving out donations, to ensure that our hard-earned donations are properly and ethically used. As a donor, your money is also hard-earned and given in trust, so you might also w...

For Cat TNRM-Ers – This Is A “drop Trap”
26th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Shared by a rescuer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SydX7jn ox8 It sure is easier than my ribbon method! Beware of the tail, though. It boasts of 4 advantages, but I think the part about trapping whole families, ie. “trapping the mum-cat without leaving the kittens behind” is a good point. Our disclaimer holds. My way: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/12/19/ladies-and -gentleman-may-i-present-mr-q-plan-d/ http://myan imalcare.org/2013/06/26/ladies-and-gentlemen-mr-zu rik/ Our discl...

A Healthful Vegan Diet (go Meatless Today And Save Some Animals!)
26th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Now, whenever I speak about eating less meat, there will always be the counter arguments, ie. so-and-so is vegetarian but is so unhealthy and weak, so-and-so is vegetarian, practises yoga but dropped dead at 40, etc. Yes, there are always the exceptions. Nothing is fool-proof. Surely we know this. There is no elixir or secret formula that works for everyone. We just have to give an idea a try and see if it works for us. But here is the thing, if we already do not believe in it, then forget about...

25th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Did you know that the plural of “madame” is “mesdames”? I didn’t….until now! Anyway, we have two madame-cats at the patio now, ie. Daffodil and Heidi. We’re going to ask you to spot them in these photos… You see Rosie, Ginger, but where is Daffodil? Here!! This next one is a lot harder… You see the box of nangka, I’m sure, but where is Heidi? A Quick-And-Easy Meatless Meal
25th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Step One: See what you have in your little vegetable garden. Taiwan kau-keh….good stuff. The vege they put in otak-otak. Can do too. (Can someone please tell me the name of that vege!!) Basil and curry leaves. Yes, can do as well. Now, as you cut the young stems of the vegetable plant, immediately replant (don’t deprive the poor young shoot of the needed carbon dioxide and oxygen please – that would be cruelty to plants!). Snip off all the leaves but leave the tip with the...

Otto The Tight-Rope Walker And Indy The Spider-Cat, And…
25th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Otto the Shrew is a regular visitor to Bunny’s Place, especially in the evenings. In fact, he is so agile, he even manages to get to the pantry and nibble on all the remaining kibbles without being caught by the 3 titans, Tiger, Tabs, Cleo or Pole. You’ve got to give credit to the Shrew Squad training, and of course, the KGB trainers. This evening, Otto came as usual, but he decided to….well, entertain us a bit…. …with this tight-rope skills! Indy and Cow were com...

Dinner At The Patio
25th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

Nowadays, it’s not Bunny’s Place making the dinner calls but the patio. At around 4.30pm, the Patio Family sends a representative to call for dinner. And since the call is made, Bunny’s Place is awakened and they too want to be fed. At Bunny’s Place, there is not much of a problem when it comes to eating. Everyone waits at his or her spot, quite patiently too. Those who cannot wait, jump onto the slab – it’s an understanding amongst them. And after eating, ev...

On A Wednesday Morning, And Would Anyone Like To Adopt Heidi?
25th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

The morning started with the horn-locking ceremony at the patio. This calls for… ….my brand new Daiso water-gun! The Russian quickly runs for cover behind Mr G. “Berani kerana benar”. Vincent stays put. Hooray! Rosie runs into the house to escape the war outside. The original Patio (Orange) Family runs in too. We are peaceful people. We do not fight. Peace offering. Eat, eat, eat….in the typical Malaysian hospitality. Heidi is here too, but not Willy. Willy&#...

My New Water Gun
24th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare

We’ve bought at least 3 water guns and all are broken now. Either the cats pushed them down and the plastic cracked or they just started leaking. Then, I had a brainwave, why not just use a normal ironing spray? The type where you can adjust the nozzle to let out a thin sharp shot of water? So I got this today, from Daiso. It’s only RM5. There were so many types, but this one has the best grip. I’ve filled it with my home-made garbage enzyme (made with only lemons). And adjust...
