Hush A Bye Heidi 27th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
Heidi has a dominance problem. We already know she’s super alpha and this has created some problems for everyone.
Timmy and Vincent have tried to be friends, but she snarls and growls at them.
She doesn’t want to stay in the patio even though the Patio Family has no objections to her presence.
She wants to be a kitchen cat. That and only that.
Yes, super alpha is about right.
Yesterday, she bit me (oh well, it wasn’t painful at all because she hasn’t got many teeth left, ...

The Saturday Breakfast 27th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
Can you identify all eight of them? The tabbies are tricky!
Yes, Timmy is up to his naughty musical bowl trick again.
After ensuring Mr Zurik had ample food (to keep him eating at the patio), I went out to look for Willy.
Willy was across the road and came running when he saw me.
He seemed hungry, and that is good.
But in less than 2 minutes into eating, Willy froze.
Hey, what are you doing here??
How could he possibly finish eating that huge bowl of kibbles so quickly?
Mr Zurik wasted no ti...

Roo And Nadia (an Update From Hamida Alonto) 27th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
Oh wow! What a great way to start the weekend!
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2013/07/24/ and-a-little-kitty-life-is-saved-a-sharing-by-a-re ader/
Roo is the little injured kitten picked up by Hamida from the streets and brought to a shelter (which understandably, could not take such a young kitten). We advised Hamida to take back the kitten, bring her for treatment, if need be and we will help with funds. At the same time, to advertise for adopters on PetFinder.my.
Nadia responded and now, Roo h...

Mr Zurik Tries Again! 26th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
No sooner had I posted that previous blogpost than there was the sound of aggression again in the porch.
I quickly checked. Heidi was still in the kitchen.
I went outside to check and Timmy was with Daffodil while Rosie was atop the car.
Mr Zurik was no where to be seen but without a doubt, it was him again, I know.
Bunny’s Place was on full alert this time.
The frontlines…literally!
The bravest soldiers. Also, the youngest of all.
I am not asleep, I’m watching from behind.

The All-New Zurik Incursion 26th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
It is almost midnight now.
In the still of the night, I heard the sound of cat aggression in the porch.
I quickly grabbed the key and opened the door.
I see Mr Zurik taking off from the porch towards the gate.
You again!!
Vincent is by my side and quickly takes up a defensive position on the shoe bench. Rosie and Daffodil are both atop the car, safe and sound. But they look worried too.
Within seconds when the Russian had scuttled away, Heidi creeps up from nowhere. I think from under the car, m...

Feeding Time! 26th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
This morning, I was up later than usual and by the time I came downstairs, my son said he had fed everyone!
He took this photo:
He said poor Vincent segregated himself from the rest.
Well, yes, Vincent has some issues, you know. I wonder if it is a colour issue, though.
I did the dinner round, which was at 4.30pm, and Vincent ate separately again.
Again, Vincent preferred to eat separately from the rest. Well, as long as he is happy, I’m okay with that. We sometimes want our personal sp...

Damian Aspinall wants his own industry phased out over the next 20-30 years, saying it was wrong to keep sentient creatures as lifelong “prisoners without parole”.
He said: “We’ve played God once when we took animals out of the forest for zoos, so surely we can play God again and try to get some of these animals home.”

The Practice Of “releasing Animals” 26th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
After writing that post on Dr Veeranoot’s Temple Dog No.2 and reflecting on why people tend to dump animals at places of worship, it suddenly dawned on me that perhaps some people think they are performing “fong sang” (in Chinese) which literally translates to “releasing lives”. This is an age-old practice in the Chinese culture where during auspicious occasions like birthdays, religious festivals or even commemoration of death anniversaries, devotees would release ...
