Heidi’s Mange Is Completely Healed
6th Sep 2013, by AnimalCare

All it took was daily application of Johnson’s Baby Oil. Heidi went around with her spiky hair for about 2 weeks and the mange is all gone now!  Mange-free Dame Heidi. No more spiky hair! I used this for Raven’s mange too, and she healed as well. But Raven had a dose of Revolution Spot-On (that’s before I found out about Johnson’s Baby Oil). For me personally, if there is an alternative method which isn’t as toxic as drugs, I would be game to try. However, our di...

Timmy’s Plan B Is ON TRACK!
6th Sep 2013, by AnimalCare

Yes, this time, it IS! The reason Timmy is sitting down is that he has already finished all his food. He is served first and he knows the rules – he goes all by himself into the cage! By the time I serve the rest, Timmy is already done! He knows he cannot come out until the rest are “almost” done with theirs. So he waits patiently. Mr Zurik is another guzzler. He literally “dives” into the food and pushes my hand away because he is just TOO hungry. I don’t...

Who Are The Editors Of The AnimalCare Blog?
6th Sep 2013, by AnimalCare

The human writer and the two chief editors. Nothing escapes the attention of the Chief Editor. She is always on board, keeping a tab (!) on things. Who says I’m sleeping? Because the two editors carry such a heavy responsibility, we brought down another chair so that both can do their work comfortably these days.

Should We Anthropomorphise Animals?
6th Sep 2013, by AnimalCare

I’ve always been guilty of anthropomorphising animals. As humans, we can’t help but attribute our human character traits to our pets and the animals we relate closely to. I do it more to tell stories on the blog, actually! Saying that Mr Zurik is a KGB agent and that Willy goes on secret missions with the MI-6 is of course….purely for entertainment. But what about theorising that a mother-cat would miss her children when they get adopted, or that a pet will be jealous when anot...

Eat Like The Greeks To Stay Sharp In Old Age
6th Sep 2013, by AnimalCare

The Greeks adopt the Meditarranean diet which comprises mostly fruit and vegetables, nuts, fish and olive oil. So do the Okinawans, who are often reputed to be the longest-living people in the world. In short, they are pescetarians (vegetarians who eat fish). The Purpose Of Charity Auctions And Blanket No. 4 (already) In The Making!
5th Sep 2013, by AnimalCare

My parents are both staunch believers in never wasting time. Perhaps that rubbed off on me (which I’m truly thankful for!). So, as Blanket No. 3 is up for auction as we speak (so to speak!), mum wants to start on Blanket No. 4 and I was there today to help her match the colours. A stitch in time saves nine, hence, time is precious! Never waste time, never procrastinate. What can be done today must be done today. I am glad I have lived up to that though I must say that my speed of doing thi...

Kutty Pony had diarrhoea and vomiting and the bill is RM55. Our subsidy is RM27.50.
