Cleo Patra’s Demands 30th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
Cleo refuses to have her subcut “together” at the same time with Bunny and Pole’s. She wants hers on a separate day.
Oh well….
When she “knows” it’s time for subcut, she goes and hides and it’s impossible to catch her. She would either go up onto the ledge (no, I am not climbing up there) or she hides under the bench and you’ll get bitten if you try to drag her out.
Pole also hides, but she is easier to deal with. She also gets stressed out ...

Heidi’s Protest 30th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
We’ve been hearing quite a bit about protests here and there in our local human community, haven’t we?
Well, no exception with the cats. But it’s not about Jawi, race or religion – thank goodness, right?
Heidi LOVES her kitchen rack and ever since we bought it, it’s been her permanent home. Gone are the days where she needed to “shift nests” (migrate) or steal someone else’s dwelling place (especially Tabs’ baskets). She would spend hours sle...

Indy’s Bone Broth 28th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
I have shared this many times, but would like to do it again, in case anyone missed it.
The bone broth recipe: https://tailblazerscopperfield.com/bo ne-broth-a-superfood-for-dogs-cats/
Chicken carcass or any bones
Water
Apple cider vinegar
Boil for more than 24 hours (slow cook)
I found out about this superfood for dogs and cats when I was desperately trying to find a solution to Indy’s chronic loose stool problem. It was in a raw feeding FB group where someone suggested it.
It helped...

Postprandial Somnolence – “food Coma”!! 28th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
I just learnt this terminology a few days ago!
Postprandial somnolence: Postprandial somnolence is a normal state of drowsiness or lassitude following a meal. Postprandial somnolence has two components: a general state of low energy related to activation of the parasympathetic nervous system in response to mass in the gastrointestinal tract, and a specific state of sleepiness.
That is why I learnt decades ago that I should always have a very, very light breakfast before an exam or now...

The Raw Deal: The Wonders Of Raw Food (Wendy And Potato’s Story) 28th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
This is a follow-up to the earlier story about Wendy, my friend’s dog: https://myanimalcare.org/2019/12/24/the- wonders-of-raw-food-another-sharing/
Wendy took to raw food (Coco & Joe’s barf) instantly and on that very same day, her 3-times daily seizures stopped. My friend took a risk and after a few days, took the medication off. Wendy continued eating 100% raw, and until today, it’s been one week of being seizure-free! Wendy has Cushing’s disease which c...

Dear Dr Chan,
We have a new addition to our community of cats, a calico female cat came to our front porch area asking for food about three week ago.
She was very thin, hungry and was not even afraid of the other cats as she bulldozed her way for food. She has now put on some weight and we decided to send ...

The Raw Deal – A Rabbit Treat For Everyone 27th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
Pole and Cleo have been getting rather picky lately, so I knew it was time for a change and a treat for them.
They always have this eating “pattern”, I know.
So, I got them some Coco & Joe’s barf and recently, they launched their all-new Rabbit Recipe.
I know, I know, we are talking about bunnies here, and it took me a long, long time before I could get down to feeding them rabbit. But that’s how Nature intended it to be – cats in the wild eat rodents (that woul...

History In The Making 27th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
This would be a never-before-seen footage in 13 years 7 months…..
It IS history in the making…..
The three super alphas in close proximity, sharing a blanket. Or sharing anything, for that matter!
Unbelievable!
It MUST have something to do with yesterday’s solar eclipse…I’m sure of it!!
This, below, on the other hand, is a daily-seen footage, many times a day, too!
The Buns sleeps in this position!

The Raw Deal – Chew On This!! 26th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
A cat’s dental health is something very important.
I know, especially after giving palliative care to Vincent who had stage 4 kidney failure. For Vincent’s case, we did everything possible for him, but he simply had extremely sensitive gums. He went through two dental surgeries earlier on, had good teeth removed because his gums would react “violently” (it was also an auto-immune condition, which we had not much control over). Vincent had stomatitis and that eventually le...

The Raw Deal: The Wonders Of Raw Food (Wendy’s Story) 24th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
Ever since our cats went on 100% raw food, I have been writing quite a bit about this. I’ve also been telling some friends how much a 100% raw diet has been really beneficial for our cats.
So, one of my friends decided to try raw food for her dogs. One of her dogs, Wendy, has been having seizures, averaging at 3 times a day. This is despite being on medication, prescribed by the vet.
I did tell her to do the transition slowly if she wanted to try, but guess what, two of her dogs (including...

Ginger….why, Oh Why? 24th Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
Ginger has issues….
Issue 1: He only wants exotic meats and he doesn’t like chicken. But exotic meats are expensive, Ginger, and we cannot afford to give it to you on a daily basis. As it is, he’s already having his exotics every 2 days. So, he goes on hunger strike on chicken days. And he eats like nobody’s business on exotic meats days. However, not to worry, because his weight is still 6kg. No hope of losing weight despite the mogok lapar on ayam days.
Issue 2: He wan...

Pos Ekspres Matters 23rd Dec 2019, by AnimalCare
Dear Applicants,
We’ve had a few cases whereby applicants posted their documents to us, but there was no record of the tracking number when they checked at pos.com.my. This usually means that the mail had not even been picked up.
And of course, we did not receive these mails too.
In view of the above, to be on a safe side, we now request that applicants take a photo of the receipt(s), the form as well as the tracking number and email it to us along with the compulsory photo collage.
In the...
