Betsy’s Rescue (Days 1 & 2) 11th Jan 2020, by AnimalCare
An update on 13th Jan 2020: Betsy is now adopted by Connie and Connie will cover all her medical expenses including the 3rd eyelid flap surgery. This is now no longer a one-off special project for us.
It was early yesterday morning that our long-time volunteer, Connie, told me about a Shih Tzu. The summary of the story is this: The Shih Tzu was rescued by a good samaritan, brought to the clinic a week ago. The clinic knows the owner. Eye surgery was needed. The clinic called owner to infor...

Meat Broth For Our Cats, CKD And “enough” Water Intake 10th Jan 2020, by AnimalCare
I’ve been writing quite a bit about the benefits of bone broth and at least two other friend’s pets have also benefited from it.
Recently, I found out that bone broth is not recommended for humans with chronic kidney failure so this should apply to cats and dogs too.
It says so here as well: https://www.foodfurlife.com/my-cat-has- diarrhea—what-do-i-do.html#/
CAUTION: If your cat has Chronic Kidney Disease, bone broth is not appropriate, it has too many minerals and is not...

Ginger’s Grand (but Short) Escape! 9th Jan 2020, by AnimalCare
You will not believe how sneaky and lightning-fast Ginger is until you actually experience it.
Yesterday, Ming-Yi and Yui Ping dropped in and the moment the door was open, Ginger dashed out. Yes, in a split second (no exaggeration there). He has developed a new modus operandi for his escapes now – he will not attempt to do it when we open the door from the inside. He does it when someone comes and opens the door from the OUTSIDE – this way, the person outside would not know he is jus...

The Russian Museum That “collects Cats” 8th Jan 2020, by AnimalCare
It’s old news, but it’s always good to remind ourselves that public places such as museums, police stations, fire stations, train stations, why, maybe even government departments (!) can lead the way to promote kindness and set a good example to the ordinary citizen. It would be great for tourism too!
Here’s all about the Hermitage Cats at the St Petersburg Museum: https://theculturetrip.com/europe/rus sia/articles/the-russian-museum-that-collects-art- and-cats/
If neutere...

A Subcut Session With Cleo, Bunny And Pole 7th Jan 2020, by AnimalCare
Bunny and Cleo have subcut twice a week, 200ml each time. Pole has it three times per week at 150ml each time.
Indy has been off subcut since November 2019. He is not dehydrated and he drinks bone broth daily.
Today, we figured out how to do Cleo’s subcut on the same day as the rest.
Do her first!!
Cleo is so perceptive that she knows when the 200ml is up. She just does. The moment it is almost reaching 200ml, she is all prepared to flee. The last time too, she looked at me the moment it ...

Another Family Portrait For The Cow Clan 7th Jan 2020, by AnimalCare
The ultra anti-social family, but at least everyone is looking at the camera!
(Indy is an associate member of the Clan.)
This is already very rare. Cleo sharing??
I normally don’t.
Yes, don’t we know?
Her Royal Majesty refuses to have her subcut on the same day as Bunny and Pole. She has to have it on a different day. Oh well….
So, we couldn’t do it last Saturday (Cleo hid and refused to come out) but by Sunday morning, she was all over and around me, as though...

The Half-Boiled Egg Yolk Eaters 7th Jan 2020, by AnimalCare
Initially, it was only Heidi. It’s every day, without fail where she would get her half-boiled egg yolk after breakfast.
Then one day, Heidi could not finish her portion, so who else to give it to but Bunny, the one who eats everything and anything!
And Pole wanted too.
The very next day, Cleo wanted as well.
And on the next day to that, Indy started eating egg yolk too.
Now, we have to buy more eggs!
I don’t eat egg yolk, it’s just not food.
What’s with the le...
