Poor Willy! 15th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
Willy came late for dinner this evening. I spotted him coming in when I went out to throw the garbage.
He is very brave these days, and comes right to the patio.
But today, Vincent and Ginger confronted the poor little boy and refused to let him approach the patio.
Willy fled out of the gate.
So I had to feed him outside at the culvert, just like old times.
And keep these four at bay.
Luckily Mr Zurik wasn’t around at that time.
That’s Heidi under the car.
Don’t look at me,...

A Present For Tiger! 15th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
Since Tiger misses the Clubhouse chair so much, I ordered a new chair for him, to be placed in the house while Tiger is under quarantine.
The moment I put the brand new chair down, before I could even remove the plastic, Tiger went onto it.
I’m glad he likes the chair.
Of course Bunny & Friends also got one, to compensate for the loss of the legendary rattan trunk…*sniff*.
We decided this chair (or rather, two chairs, as Tiger’s chair will eventually come in here when T...

Tiger Day 9 – New Sores Again 15th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
There was good sun today, so after breakfast, Tiger was taken out for a sunbathing session. Since he was being carried, I was able to use the small scissors to trim off some of the fur around his sporo sores. That’s when I noticed new sores…on the right front paw and on the tail.
These are the original sores on the left hind leg. There hasn’t been much change on these. I suppose “no change” is better than getting worse.
A close-up.
This is the new ...

Tiger Day 8 – More New Sores 14th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
This morning, I went to see the first two vets today to let them know how Tiger is faring. Apparently, it’s not uncommon for new sores to appear since the spores are already in the deep muscle and they have to come out.
However, it’s very common to see “progress” within a few days of treatment, but I was cautioned that this may not indicate that healing is in progress. Relapses are all too common, unfortunately. And more so for FIV+ cats too.
Since we are wary of Sporono...

Tiger Day 8 14th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
Yesterday, I heart dropped when I found new sores on Tiger. But granted, the existing spores probably have to germinate, so I think that’s what is happening. Everything has to come out.
Besides the new sores on that front paw, I later found a few more, but all on the left side of his body. However, these sores were already very dry and looked like they were shrinking.
Here’s two photos of the same new sores, the one of the left taken at about 4.30pm (I applied Lamisil cream immediate...

Bunny Says “No, No, No!!” 14th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
This morning, after giving Tiger all his medicines, I tried to give the Omega-7 capsule to Bunny but he really put up a fight and almost bit me real bad. He growled and hissed and would have bitten me if I had not dodged his jaws in time. And all I did was approach him with the capsule wrapped in wetfood. Hadn’t even touched him yet.
Wow! I must have caught him at a totally wrong time. Maybe some bullying had just happened before this.
NO!! I don’t want any medicine!!
Oh well, it w...

Intruder Alert! Intruder Alert! On The Roof!! 14th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
There was the sound of loud thumping on the roof this morning…
Who might it be? It’s from the roof!!
It’s Vincent??
Yes, it’s Vincent! And from the looks of it, he was trying to get into Bunny’s Place from the roof.
No, Vincent, no. You don’t want to cross Cow’s path, please.
Our masked hero was already all geared up for the intruder attack.
All it takes is one single leap…
There!!
And Vincent was gone!

Tiger Day 7 – Old Sores Drying Up, New Sores Appearing… 13th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
I was playing with Tiger just now (that is the only way to check his sores) and it appears that while the old sores are visibly drying up, new sores are also appearing.
The original sores went from crater-like to drying up now, which is good. But upon closer examination now, it looks like new sores are spreading out from these dried up ones. Maybe the spores that are inside (sporo sores erupt from inside) have to come out in order to heal?
And there is a new area too, which I have not noticed b...

Where Are The PatioCats? 13th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
With Tiger under quarantine inside the house, the PatioCats have not been allowed to come into the house and they were really quite unhappy in the beginning.
Now, they are getting a bit used to it though every morning, I still have to cage Tiger and let the PatioCats in for a short while.
Ginger still comes in through the window by scaling the netting and I monitor him closely to stop him from getting too close to Tiger.
I do feel a little bad that they cannot come into the house, especially wit...

Tiger Day 7 – Adding Omega-7 13th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
This morning I was so pleasantly surprised to see the wounds on Tiger’s front paw. Those 4 sporo sores look significantly drier compared with yesterday! I hope this improvement continues. The ones on the legs did not show as much change, though.
The fact that Tiger’s body is responding to this treatment is already a great blessing, what with him being FIV+ and the poor prognosis from the vets. So we rejoice in this moment!
It is much, much drier today. These are the wounds on his fr...

Bag No. 6 Reaches Joy Saga! 12th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
PC Leong bid for Bag No. 6 in our auction and won the bag. He requested that we post the bag as a gift to Joy Saga, and so when Joy came back from work today….
Surprise!!
It’s really wonderful when there is all this happy giving and “gifting” of our auction pieces amongst strangers-who-become-friends because of a common motivation – to help the animals.
Thank you, PC and Joy!
Now, we have Blanket No. 32 up for reauction right now, closing tomorrow (13th March) at 5...

Tiger Day 6 12th Mar 2014, by AnimalCare
Tiger had another quick sunbathing session this morning.
And while he was sunbathing, I managed to take these photos of the wounds:
I am not sure whether there is any improvement yet, but am glad they looked pretty dry to my untrained eye.
Tiger had a bit of loose stools this morning and I was worried about the possibility of the medicine causing diarrhoea, but am glad it was just a one-off and he has been alright since then.
Today is Day 6 of Tiger’s sporo treatment.
