Gerald’s Breakfast

As you know, Gerald is a very, very fussy cat when it comes to eating.
As usual, I gave him his raw gizzards this morning but I added a tablespoon of raw food. He turned his nose up in the air and walked. Then I removed that tablespoon of raw food and he ate up all the four gizzards.
Unfortunately, later, I found that he had vomited all the gizzards out, undigested. Maybe he ate too fast or he is having some tummy upset. But of course he was yowling for food again.

Ginger’s Paw Wound – Day 2

Yesterday, Ginger preferred to stay on the platforms.
I did not put the e-collar on him all the time, though. He did not lick his wound at all, so I only use it for about an hour after I cleaned the wound and applied the Fucidin to prevent him from licking off the cream.
He was already no longer limping yesterday and was able to get all the way up to the lookout.

Ginger To The Vet’s (paw Wound)

Ginger did not come for breakfast this morning. He had gone up to the highest platform (the lookout) and was sitting alone.
Something was definitely not right.
After feeding everyone, we managed to get him to come down but he was clearly limping.
There was a small black spot (it felt like a scab) on top of his right paw. We did not see anything else. Ginger could still walk, but he limped.
The right paw looked swollen.
He had all the moral support from the Monsters.

An Update On The 4 Shah Alam Dogs (from Lau Mei Fong)

The videos of their release back to colony are in the link above. But after that, Ms Lau could not find Chocolate. The other 3 came back to eat daily.
Today, Ms Lau made an effort to go look for Chocolate and found her!

Why Indra Likes To Live With Riley

Samantha has an obvious favourite – Kai. Akira is okay too, but she doesn’t seem to care much for Indra.
This is why Indra prefers to come into the house and play with Riley.
Riley is actually a very, very good big sister. Whenever any of the Blondies come into the house, Riley takes it upon herself to look after them and this includes following them wherever they go, including upstairs and babysitting them while they play.
You cannot ask for a better babysitter than Riley.

Just How Fussy Is Gerald?

I would say he’s our fussiest cat when it comes to eating.
He expects me to read his mind as to what he wants to eat.
Sometimes, it’s 100% raw chicken gizzards (he can easily eat up to four pieces of gizzards in one sitting). I’m trying to introduce some chicken breast meat together with the gizzard now and possibly, some chicken liver too.
But as much as he loves gizzards, he doesn’t want it for every meal.
He needs variety.

Tabs’ Medicated Bath

I gave Tabs her second medicated bath today, with Pyohex.
The vet says to let the shampoo stay on for 7 minutes (the bottle actually says 10 minutes), but the best we can do is 6 minutes before Tabs starts to get very restless. I do understand, 7 minutes is a very long time to stay wet with shampoo.
I still consider her very, very cooperative because with Robin, it was much, much harder. For example, when I turn on the tap, Robin would already jump. Tabs is okay with the tap.

Neutering Aid For 2 Dogs In Shah Alam (Lau Mei Fong’s) & Updates

We have provided an aid of RM400 for the neutering of these 2 females dogs, Snow and Cocoa.
We also provided our vaccination aid for Snow, Cocoa, Brownie and Chocolate (all from the same colony at the warehouse). All four were captured with the help of a dartsman and sent for neutering. But Brownie and Chocolate were discovered to be pregnant during the procedure so as per policy, we could not provide any aid for them. Vaccination Aid For 4 Dogs In Shah Alam (Lau Mei Fong’s)

We have provided an aid of RM100 for the vaccinations of these 4 dogs.
Ms Lau Mei Fong (Juliette) is a new applicant. We have also provided our neutering aid for 2 of the dogs (next post, please).
Her CNRM work is done jointly with the guard at the warehouse, Mr Suparamaniam a/l Suppiah (aka Uncle Maniam). Uncle Maniam feeds the dogs daily. More information in the next post on the dogs’ neutering.

Fundraising For Food For The Kulim Cats And Dogs Of Norshahana Bt Ahmad Shah

Puan Norshahana bt Ahmad Shah is a cat and dog feeder in Kulim, Kedah. She is also a regular applicant of our Neutering Aid and since December 2023, we have helped her with the neutering of 31 cats and 2 cats with vaccination. She earns a living as a cat-sitter and runs a pet taxi.

Gerald, The Blondies And The Monsters

Our most obedient cats are the Monsters. They give no trouble at all except for the occasional fights amongst themselves which do not end in bloodshed or vet visits. And feeding them is a joy because they have fantastic appetite.
I cannot say the same for the Blondies.
I only managed to get Samantha and Kai to eat this evening. Akira was too busy “hunting”.
Indra hid under the poo pots so that I cannot feed her. They both later ate kibble (I gave in).

The Boys And The Monsters

The boys played with the Monsters today!
Jayden is more familiar with the cats as he grew up with them.
Best friends since young!
Ryan is learning not to fear the cats.
The boys played from the Catio into Bunny’s Place. They had lots of fun with all the cats!
Inside the house, they normally play chase with Tabs and Riley too.

Gerald, Creamy And Tabs

Creamy was here the very first thing in the morning. I already saw him sitting atop one of our cars from the CCTV when I got up. He was very hungry too. I first gave him a big bowl of wet food which he finished, but he stayed at the door, and kept looking in. He wanted more. So I gave him another bowl of kibble and he ate that too. Only then did he go back home.
It’s a rarity that Tabs is willing to stay on the bed with Gerald. I suppose ginger cats are no threat to anyone?

Tabs’ Red Spot Isn’t Fungal

It’s been four days now since the culture was done to determine if Tabs’ red spot is fungal.
Well, it isn’t. The vet confirmed that today.
And that red spot is so much better already. I’ve been applying the Triderm cream three times a day.
This is the culture. If it’s fungal, the colour would turn red. It did not.

Gerald’s Yowling, Trip To The Park And Eating Fussiness

Gerald protested by not eating this morning.
While I managed to feed each of the Blondies, which was challenging enough, Gerald still did not want to eat, no matter what I offered him.
Yesterday, he made a dash out of Bunny’s Room, ran to the front door and asked to go out. Of course I did not let him out. Poor thing. He really wants to go out roaming again.

Gardening With The Monsters

I still miss Misty very much.
It hasn’t been easy even though I have so much to do daily.
Gardening with the Monsters nearby. Waiting each day for the lemons to ripen.
Compared with the Blondies, the Monsters are actually so much easier to look after, especially when it comes to feeding – they eat anything and they eat so well.
They are also quite obedient, except for the occasional fighting amongst themselves, but so far, it has not led to any bloodshed requiring vet’s atten...
