Taking One Small Step At A Time… 15th Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
Although we had made the announcement on 23rd December 2014 that we will not be needing cash donations to our Fund (there were plans to eventually close the Fund at that time), not everyone follows our blog and some may have missed out on that announcement. Hence, we are still getting a few cash donations, some banked in anonymously too. In view of this, these cash donations will be used immediately to pay the ongoing neutering subsidies. It has always been our policy to use up the monthR...

Pampering Cow Mau (Day 9) 14th Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
Cow finished his oral medicines yesterday and now, it’s just nutritious food and the daily eyedrops.
We continue to give him massages as often as he wants, doing our best to make him as comfortable as we can.
It didn’t take us long to understand exactly where Cow Mau wants to be massaged – he’d lick the collar in that direction, so we massage in that general area of his body. He seems satisfied and happy. It’s the least we can do for him…
We that pray undern...

Refurbishing The Cats’ Chairs 14th Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
Our cats aren’t that heavy, but look at what’s happened to the Clubhouse chairs…
Both chairs suffered the same fate. And both are Tiger’s and Cow’s favourite chairs.
So, my husband decided to refurbish the chairs…
First, cut away all the loose strands.
Cut their favourite “springy netting” to the correct size for the seat.
Tie the netting neatly down with cable ties.
And tadah, we have a new seat!
He repaired both chairs and left it out for ...

Cow’s Check-Up At The Vet’s (Day 7) 12th Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
We brought Cow for his first check-up, a week after the third eyelid flap surgery.
The vet said on the outside, it looks good and clean. The third eyelid flap is still intact and there is no signs of any infection. Cow will finish his oral antibiotics tomorrow and we are just to continue with the daily eyedrops at least twice a day. This is to prevent infection at the surgical site.
Since we cannot see what is going on inside, we can only hope that the ulcer is healing with the help of nourishm...

Looking After Cow (Day 6) 11th Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
Today is Day 6 since Cow had his third eyelid flap surgery.
We let him have a walk in the garden this afternoon.
Brother Bunny accompanied Cow, but they went on their own adventures.
Cow was quite reluctant to be taken back into the room. Despite the e-collar, it was a struggle for me to carry him back. He is so strong.
Throughout the day, we give him body massages. He even knows how to turn his body so that we massage at the right places.
Facial massages, too.
And lots and lots of moral su...

Today is only Day 3 since Cow had his third eyelid flap operation. Time passes so slowly when you wish it would fly…
Cow has learnt to adjust to eat with the e-collar on, but he still needs help, so I hold the bowl up for him as much as possible. All of us have been showering him with praises and moral support, cheering him on. We spend time to sit with him as often as we can. He loves the pampering so that’s good.
Feeding him his oral medication is a bit of a problem, but I am manag...

Cow’s Third Eye Lid Flap Operation 6th Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
We have tried the best we could, with eye drops and even the plasma drops, but today’s visit to the vet’s revealed that the ulcer has got even worse.
This was my greatest fear – that we are only left with the option of performing the third eye lid flap operation as a last ditch effort to save Cow’s eye.
About the operation: https://www.vetstream.com/felis/Conten t/Technique/teq00055
We do not know what his chances are at recovery and can only hope for the best. It is a s...
