Inside Tales 22nd Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
The titans love their clubhouse chairs.
Luckily the old chairs were refurbished.
Old is certainly gold.
Cow prefers the new chair, though.
Who goes there??
Our masked hero at work.
Is it feeding time? No? Snack time?
Another five more days, Cow.
Praying hard the third eyelid flap surgery will be a success.
Am I cute?
Patience comes to those who wait…
Yay!! A box! A box!!

Mr Zurik’s Perseverance 22nd Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
Mr Zurik does not give up.
If one were to give him marks for perseverance, he’d score a perfect TEN paws down.
He knows I take a walk daily at the playground. He stalks me there, but in a nice way. The moment he sees me, he follows. Once, he even trotted after me for two full rounds (which is a very long distance for a cat). When he got near enough, he mewed for sympathy.
We figured Mr Zurik has no home nowadays. He is usually sitting outside houses or is at the playground. So, rehoming h...

Compassion Fatigue And Compassion Satisfaction – Beware Of Burnout 21st Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
Koo shares this wonderful article:
http://notesfromadogwalker.com/2013/09/07 /self-care-is-not-optional-how-burnout-ended-my-ca reer-at-the-shelter/
Compassion fatigue is the exhaustion due to the stress and demand of being empathetic and helpful to those who are suffering. Animal caregivers may experience this and not realise it. It eventually leads to burnout and once that happens, turning back may be difficult.
To avoid compassion fatigue, one must be able to care for oneself first. This is ...

Deeply Touched And Blessed By Angels Without Wings 20th Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
Today I am deeply touched by the kind gestures of AnimalCare’s good friends.
You’d remember that 15 blankets were given away last month to those who have helped us in kind, silently and anonymously through the years.
11 of those blankets are now coming back to AnimalCare to be auctioned for fundraising!
I was so surprised!
The friends who have taken these blankets were merely keeping them safe to give me time to recover and reconsider my decision. They just took them off me to light...

Oh No, Cow’s Collar Came Off!! 19th Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
Yesterday, we went out for about 2 hours and when we came home, I saw Cow sitting happily against the grille…with his e-collar off!!
Oh my gosh!!!
No time to waste!
I got inside the room, found the e-collar on the floor beside the back grille, put it on Cow and checked his eye. I know the vet told me that if I can still see the third eyelid (a flap) through the corner of his stitched up eye, that means the stitches are intact, but if I can see his eyeball, it means the stitches have come o...

We’re Back On Track With Our Neutering Subsidies! 18th Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
In the past few weeks, for every subsidy paid to regular applicants, I had written a personal request to them to please give me a few weeks’ break to recuperate before they send it their next applications. I thank you very much for your kind consideration.
The initial (bad) news that we are closing down has spread like wildfire and it’s time to put it right.
AnimalCare is NOT closing.
And we are now happy to announce that our neutering subsidies are available again to all applicants...

Heidi Was Kidnapped This Morning!! 17th Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
But she is back home safely now. Phew!
It was 6.45am and it was still dark. I was feeding Bunny & Friends in the pantry while my husband was feeding the PatioCats but Heidi was missing.
Heidi does not miss a meal.
So, my husband went over to the playground to look for her.
He walked all the way to the pavilion and started calling for Heidi. At the pavilion, he saw a tabby walking towards him. In the dark, the tabby looked very much like Heidi.
The tabby approached confidently and rubbed her...

Heidi, My Dedicated Nurse 17th Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
About a week ago, when I was still feeling very ill and tired, Heidi was my “nurse”.
In the wee hours of the morning, she would jump up onto my side of the bed and lie down with me. There was one day when I was feeling exceptionally cold. Heidi knew and she wanted to keep me warm. The bolster was in between Heidi and me, but our dear little dame, walked the length of my body to look for a place where she could lie touching my skin. She kept me warm.
It was in the mornings that I felt...

Are n’t these simply the cutest photos ever??
They were both probably less than one year old then.
Their feeder, Francis, got them spayed and neutered and we offered our subsidy. This was before we moved to this neighbourhood. Daffodil was evasive and could not...

Another Little Step…(tshirts) 16th Jan 2015, by AnimalCare
We would like to thank all our supporters for immediately responding to our call to help us clear our tshirt stock when we had plans to eventually close our Fund in December 2014. That’s when we reduced the price of the tshirt to RM20 (closing down sales).
But now, we are making small steps to revive AnimalCare and we hope we can get a little bit more proceeds from the sales of tshirts to top up our Fund.
So, no more “closing down sales”!
Here’s another small step to revi...
