Cats And Their (trusted) Water Sources 20th Apr 2015, by AnimalCare
Chen Chen sent me this highly informative book, Catification, and I came across a most interesting fact, which, again, proves just how intelligent cats are (compared to lesser beings like us humans):
Here’s a quote from page 239:
Did you know that it’s better to place your cat’s water bowl far away from their food bowl? In nature, cats instinctively do not drink water that is near a food source because there is a chance that the water could be contaminated. This is also why som...

A New Toy! (or A New Threat?) 20th Apr 2015, by AnimalCare
Two days ago, our garden maintenance team came over to deliver the misai kucing plants (yay! we have misai kucing now) and along with that, came a pleasant surprise.
One of their clients had requested that they help take away a children’s slide from the clients’ house, so they thought (now, bless their kind souls) that our cats might like it as a new toy.
Would your cats like it, they asked.
Why not, I thought. How very kind of you to think of them….
Recycle, reuse…especi...

A Gentle Reminder About Using Real Names And Not Tampering With Receipts 16th Apr 2015, by AnimalCare
This post is especially for applicants to our Fund.
Please read this first: http://myanimalcare.org/2015/02/12/tampere d-receipts-will-not-be-accepted/
We are still receiving tampered receipts and 100% of the time, applicants are unaware that the receipt is an official document that should not be tampered with. Sad to say, they also do not realise that tampering with receipts is a crime.
Could we please remind all applicants that if anything is missing from or erroneous on the receipt, they co...

Cow’s Check-Up And Blood Test Results 16th Apr 2015, by AnimalCare
Last night, I was sitting on the edge of my seat, waiting for Cow’s blood test results today. From his urine test yesterday, the specific gravity was good and the vet said his kidneys are functioning well as he was able to concentrate urine. With elderly pets, we definitely worry about kidney problems. But for Cow’s case, I had a bigger worry – Diabetes. As we all know, Cow is rather “big”, and even with diet control, he is somehow, still big.
I was really worried i...

Cow Awakens! 15th Apr 2015, by AnimalCare
It took roughly 3 hours for Cow to fully awaken from the sedation.
We’ve managed to get him to eat (he has to learn how to eat with the e-collar on again). Luckily, the vet says he probably needs to be on the collar for about 2-3 days only.
He’s okay now and we even managed to flush the eye with the sterile saline just now.
They may fight “till the cows come home” on normal days, but when it really matters, I know we can count on our cats…
Cow says “thank yo...

Debridement Of Cow’s Corneal Ulcer 15th Apr 2015, by AnimalCare
It’s been a long day for us today.
Cow’s corneal ulcer hadn’t got better (or worse). The Lysine treatment did not work. Neither did the eye-drops.
So I brought Cow to the vet for another evaluation today.
The vet checked and confirmed that the ulcer hadn’t healed at all. It also had not got worse and it’s been weeks now.
We had several options:
1. We could just leave it alone where Cow would have to live with the discomfort.
2. We could go in for the debridement o...

5. Be active in local politics (if you think the powers-that-be will actually listen and act)

Who’s That In The Garden? 13th Apr 2015, by AnimalCare
Another black-and-white??
Ha ha…
It’s Indy! I took a chance and let him out because it’s quite pitiful that Tiger and Tabs get to come out all the time but he doesn’t. After all, Indy doesn’t belong to the Cow Family (in a biological sense, that is); he’s friends with Tiger and Tabs.
There’s something in this bush…
I’m going to track it down…
Before all hell broke loose, I brought Indy back…
I’m going to track that thi...

Gifts “for Adoption”! 12th Apr 2015, by AnimalCare
We are delighted that we’ve had 3 requests for the latest owls which I’ve just completed.
However, in the past, we’ve also had readers who ordered our gifts but do not bank in their donation and the gifts are stuck with us until someone else kind-heartedly buys them up.
So, to settle this “logistics” issue, we’ve decided to have a very simple system where certain homemade gifts will be up for “adoption”.
This will also solve the issue of readers...
