Tabs And Ginger’s Cough 27th Apr 2020, by AnimalCare
Fingers crossed.
I think Tabs and Ginger’s cough has healed.
Ginger’s took 2 months. Tabs’ was about less than 2 weeks.
The nebulization helped a lot.
Today’s last nebulization for both:
Tabs took it all nicely.
Ginger, who used to LOVE sniffing in the Ventolin, put up a fight today. Looks like he knows he is well?

Pole, Minnie And Smurfy’s Updates 27th Apr 2020, by AnimalCare
I definitely saw Pole urinating with my own eyes, at least twice today, so all is well.
Covering up her urine.
To my complete relief, Pole was willing to eat the Cystaid Plus sprinkles on her food. I didn’t expect this, so it is a real bonus. I hope she continues to eat it. That would save me one pilling and it’s a large capsule too. So the only pilling I have to do now is the Papain, twice a day, for a total of 10 days. It’s not easy. She spits out the tablet and I have to t...

Our First Papayas! 26th Apr 2020, by AnimalCare
I’m a total idiot when it comes to planting things.
Anything.
The only successful planting I’ve done would be taugeh in primary school and once, corn (jagung) for a secondary school science project.
All else have failed quite miserably and sadly…until….
We threw papayas seeds out the little trees grew.
One matured.
The first one was donated to the birds and shrews.
The second two were for us humans.
Yes, we wrapped these.
Donated another one to the birds and shrews.
...

Minnie And Smurfy Are Fine 26th Apr 2020, by AnimalCare
Minnie and Smurfy are both very well-behaved. I carry Minnie out every day to acclimatise her to the surroundings. She doesn’t struggle anymore.
Feeding her the large Legalon capsule (for her liver) and the Doxy tablet, is a breeze. Imagine that….a “stray” and I can feed her medicine. Pole and Cleo have been with me for 14 and 13 years respectively, and I still cannot tame them!!
Smurfy is untamed for now. But he allows us to pat him without striking us back now. I thin...

Pole Is Not Out Of The Woods Yet (vomiting Again) 26th Apr 2020, by AnimalCare
The vet said I could stop the daily Mirtazapine if Pole starts eating again. Mirtazapine acts as both an anti-vomiting medicine and an appetite stimulant. She says I could give Pole once in 3 days. Not daily.
This morning, I began giving Pole Coco&Joe’s mixed with Cindy’s mousse. No Mirtazapine today.
I was so happy that she ate it!

Here she is, eating Coco&Joe’s with Cindy’s mousse.
But, disaster struc...

Pole’s Emergency Visit To The Vet’s (it’s FIC, A Type Of FLUTD) 25th Apr 2020, by AnimalCare
That’s FIC (no typo). It’s Feline Idiopathic Cystitis.
Feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC) is also referred to as feline interstitial cystitis. It is one of several medical issues that fall under the umbrella term of feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD). FIC is a sterile inflammatory condition affecting the urinary bladder.
This morning, I saw Pole urinating a bit more frequently than usual. But she normally squats really low, and in the dark (at da...

Retraining Pole To Eat Raw Food Again 25th Apr 2020, by AnimalCare
Pole has been eating all night, which is a good thing.
But I figured it’s also time to ease her back into raw food, so with each small meal, I add a small amount of raw food. I thought I should start with Cubgrub as it has the mildest taste.
Also, for every meal, I give her a different flavour of canned food so that she gets a surprise. It’s crucial to get her to eat now, so whatever it takes…
A bit hesitant there….because there’s raw.
Of course everyone else wa...

The Cat It Water Fountain 24th Apr 2020, by AnimalCare
I bought the Cat It water fountain yesterday and it’s been on all of yesterday but no one was interested. The vet suggested it with the hope that the cats would drink more water since we have four CKD cats (Pole, Cleo, Indy and Bunny).
It was only just now that someone approached it….
The Buns!! I don’t know if he licked any water, though.
Actually, I thought Indy would love it but so far, he has not expressed any interest at all.
So I changed the water just now and put...

Pole’s Small Meals 24th Apr 2020, by AnimalCare
Pole did not look well this morning. I was a bit worried as she seemed much better yesterday and had already started eating on her own again.
I had to forcefeed her because the vet said she has to have food. Otherwise her gastritis would become worse. The problem with Pole is that she is an extremely choosy cat when it comes to food.
Pole and Cleo were our first cats to convert to a raw diet a few years ago. They just took to it instantly as though their primal instincts were intact (“yes,...

Near-Pandemonium And An Attempted Escape (Minnie & Smurfy) 24th Apr 2020, by AnimalCare
Minnie and Smurfy have been in the condo-cage for 5 days now. Apart from the few times I carried Minnie out for a few seconds (before she would struggle), they had been caged. I wish I could let them out, but Minnie would escape and Smurfy would be near-impossible to catch back.
Do you see Ginger in the photo? He’s keeping tabs on them. Just being kiasu, that is all.
Smurfy has a new box, a bling-bling and a bell-ball to play with.
He was playing with the bell-ball all night.
The...

Pole Eats Baby Food! 23rd Apr 2020, by AnimalCare
This was taken last night, after being forcefed. Pole is not happy. But the vet said forcefeeding is very necessary for Pole’s case because she has gastritis.
But late last night, she was willing to lick some wetfood off my finger. Small steps..
This morning, at 5am, believe it or not, I managed to feed her the Sucralfate (gastric medicine). I wrapped the tablet in bread, prised her mouth open and plonked it in!! Of course she resisted. But we managed it! After that, it was the Omeprazol...

Pole To The Vet’s (severe Gastritis) 22nd Apr 2020, by AnimalCare
Pole did not eat on Monday’s night. I thought it was a one-off case, so I let her be.
But on Tuesday morning, she also did not eat, and subsequently, she did not eat the whole of Tuesday. By afternoon, I had contacted the vet but appointments were fully booked.
So I made an appointment for this morning.
Last Thursday, Pole vomited twice. I gave her Omeprazole and that helped and I continued with Omeprazole for 3 days just to be sure.
But last night, she vomited again (no food came out beca...
