After 12 Hours Of Being Missing, Vincent Returns!!
29th Feb 2016, by AnimalCare

This starts with quite a long story, but I’ll try and make it short. Vincent has been having a hard time at the patio ever since Zurik gained access here. We all know how hard Vincent tried to prevent Zurik from coming in and…failed. And to Vincent, this is a big blow on his confidence because Vincent is a soldier at heart. His duty is to protect the patio from intruders and Zurik managed to…intrude. To rub salt to injury, the Bird Family accepts Zurik. And this is despite t...

Some Issues On Early Spaying And Neutering
29th Feb 2016, by AnimalCare

Here are three articles, the first written with many references from veterinary research and the second is about a modified technique of spaying while the third is written by “an angry vet”, all of which discusses some disadvantages of the conventional spaying and neutering, particularly if it is done at an early age, before the animal reaches maturity. Based on the knowledge from vets, all these years, we have often suggested that rescued females be neutered at 4-5 month...

28th Feb 2016, by AnimalCare

Hi Everyone, We are on a fundraising spree and would like to introduce you to the 500ml bottle (kitchen size) of Bacoff’s Fruit & Vege Wash. It was a sellout at our stall today. How to use: Dilute 1:10 in water; Soak fruit and veges for 5-10 minutes; Drain. No need to rinse. It even forms a protective anti-bacteria layer on your fruits and veges such that your produce will last longer in the fridge. What’s best is that it’s made of bioflavonoids and is...

Oh Dear, Please Do Not Do This…
28th Feb 2016, by AnimalCare

I received a query from a potential applicant to our fund recently. She had contacted me much earlier to ask about our neutering aid and I had already explained our procedures, sent her the policies in writing and the forms, etc. She contacted me again, after having read our policies, to say that she found another organisation which also helps with subsidies for neutering. Her query was whether she can apply to both organisations for the same animal. I said no, this is not possible. Not only th...

Agnes and I started off very early this morning and reached the temple at 7.00am. As you know, we are still trying very hard to sell off our white tshirts and we thought a Buddhist crowd might be more interested in white. We also brought other merchandise like the Orifera soap and shampoo, Litna toothpaste, Korean toothbrush and Bacoff’s Fruit n Vege Wash. There was yummy breakfast as well! This is the temple cat. Puss was neutered, funded by Agnes! Although the crowd was quite thin, ...

Last Sunday, I was invited by the Buddhist Gem Fellowship to do a sharing on “giving”. I was really pleasantly surprised to see Jelissa and Xiang Jun (our two youngest volunteers) in the audience! As always, when speaking about “giving”, there is always the chance to bring up “giving” to animals. The other gentleman in the photo is Mr Ganga, the national president of the Befrienders. Mr Ganga believes in propagating kindness to animals and he has been using ...

What’s That On Bunny’s Chin?
26th Feb 2016, by AnimalCare

We noticed a sort-of blister/bruise on Bunny’s chin on Wednesday. By this morning, it hadn’t got better, so it’s off to the vet’s. I was worried it could be a sporo spot because it does look similar to Yoke Mei’s Blacktail’s sporo spots (https://myanimalcare.org/2013/04/03/blacktail-spo ro-cat-now-recovering-well-a-sharing-by-wong-yoke- mei/). Sporotrichosis, the fungi, is found in soil, so it could be present inside the garden in Bunny’s Place (that&rs...
