Putin’s Updates (the Formerly Scrawny FIP Cat Treated With Molnupiravir) 29th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
Ref: https://animalcare.my/2023/11/23/putin-the-fip-cat -treated-with-molnupiravir-an-update/
I dropped into my friend’s shop to visit Putin this afternoon and was so pleasantly surprised to see how well Putin looks now.
Take a look at him!
Putin was rescued last year, diagnosed with FIP, thin, scrawny and weak. His vet recommended Molnupiravir instead of the popular GS441524 (injectables and oral). My friend says she also could not afford the expensive GS, so she opted for the oral Molnu...

Our Last Cow Bites 28th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
Ming-Yi showed me her last Cow Mau bite. I have one too, at exactly the same spot on the left hand.
And remember the terrible Cow bite I got in December 2023 which turned real bad and I had to go to the clinic daily for dressing? And an over-enthusiastic doctor almost wanted to cut off my skin?
Here it is! I think the mark is here to stay, and that’s fine with me.
This is also another Cow Bite mark on my right thumb. Well, if you are used to force feeding cats, you will know these...

Finally….Indy Eats By Himself!! 27th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
The magic finally happened this evening!!
https://animalcare.my/wp-content/uploads /2024/03/1-v-1.mp4
Slowly, slowly….sniff, sniff, sniff….and then he started eating!!
I have waited six long days for this to happen!
https://animalcare.my/wp-content/uploads/2 024/03/2-v-1.mp4
Indy didn’t eat very much, but the fact that he even ate by himself is a very, very good start!

Tabs And Riley 27th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
So little is written about Tabs and Riley because these two girls seldom have any drama to write about!
When Indy refused to eat the Primal Freeze-Dried, I gave it to Tabs. This used to be her favourite food until she was diagnosed with PKD/CKD and since then, had to be on a kidney diet too. This is the last few nuggets of Primal that I have. Tabs should not eat them anymore as the protein level is too high for her.
Tabs and Riley are not easy to feed too. Tabs is very choosy or maybe in her g...

Creamy Came Again 27th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
Creamy came this morning and there was no peace. Earlier on, I had already heard Gerald mewing but the sound was nearby, so I didn’t expect to see Creamy. Normally when Creamy has come to the porch, Gerald would be mewing nonstop far away.
I fed Creamy and Misty barely ate.
Where was Gerald? I could hear him mewing.
He was just here, sitting on the window sill, mewing and complaining. But both he and Misty refused to eat. I knew there was nothing I could do but just to wait it out. So I ...

Indy’s Updates 27th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
Indy’s is still not willing to eat on his own.
I suppose the only little progress I see is that he walks to the door to greet me every morning instead of sitting under the bed and he has shown some interest in food. However, he is still unwilling to eat on his own.
A friend wonders if Indy is behaving this way because he misses Cow Mau. He could be. Years ago, when Vixey passed away, Indy behaved very strangely too. We were living in our old house and Indy ran away from home. He did not co...

The Porch Situation This Morning 26th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
When husband went out to work early this morning, he told me Creamy was in our porch. At that time, I was busy preparing the medicines and feeding all our inside cats, so by the time I went out to the porch, Creamy had already left.
I don’t think he comes to eat. He’s just here to socialise or stake his claim on our porch and intimidate Gerald.
When I was feeding our cats, I heard Gerald mewing from a distance. That’s probably him telling me that he cannot come back because Cre...

Tabs And Her PKD/CKD 26th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
We must not forget that Tabs is also a CKD patient, but at Stage 2.
Her case is most likely due to the fact that she has some pedigree in her (she’s definitely mixed), so she has had PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) all her life without us knowing about it.
I mean, who would simply go do an ultrasound on a young cat, right? So, we never knew and it looks like it never bothered her before too.
But the thing with PKD is that it would slowly lead to CKD because the multiple fluid-filled ...

A Failed Breakfast With The Blondies This Morning 26th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
A complete failure this morning!
I only got Akira to eat.
Indra was up on the highest platform and showing me her butt.
Samantha wasn’t interested in eating either, which is rare.
But I finally got her to eat. So okay, it’s 2 out of 4.
Kai was too busy getting ready for battle with Rey.
But…
It’s 4 out of 4 when it comes to snack time. Kibble!
Oh well….okay, fine, as long as you girls don’t go hungry. It looks like I have to extend my “as long as...

Indy Is Still Not Eating On His Own 26th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
This is Indy’s breakfast this morning. I have been force feeding him for many days now.
We’ve already seen the vet and he has medication for the runny nose. I think the nose is much better now, after being on the Azithromycin. Maybe we just have to let the medication take its course.
He’s alert and quite “normal” except that he has no appetite. Looks like the Mirtazapine (appetite stimulant) isn’t working too, but then again, unfortunately, Mirtazapine has n...

Cow Mau’s Cremains Are Back With Us 25th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
Cow Mau’s cremation was done on 24th March and his cremains were brought back to us this afternoon.
I will usually place all cremains on our shrine table until I am ready to commit them to the earth, which will be in our garden. In Cow Mau’s case, it will be Bunny’s Garden where he had lived.
It’s very sad when I looked through my phone calendar today. I saw Cow Mau’s next medical appointment supposedly on this Thursday and his next Advocate spot-on reminder in Apr...

The Monsters’ Breakfast 25th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
I haven’t written enough about the Monsters. Maybe it’s because they don’t give much trouble, especially when it comes to eating!
But yes, they do fight. Only that it’s not the type that ends with me having to take them to the vet’s. It’s just the very noisy type. Thank goodness for that!
It’s been some time already that I could just mix their probiotics powder and sprinkle fish oil into their food. This makes feeding them the supplements so, so much ea...

The Porch Situation Now 25th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
Creamy came for two days in the row and the situation at the Porch was quite chaotic. Gerald and Misty didn’t dare to eat again.
This morning, there were no signs of Creamy…
Misty is getting to be very affectionate nowadays. Maybe, one day, I will be able to open her mouth and deworm her.
Both ate breakfast.
But when husband went to work later, he said he saw Misty carrying a bird in her mouth. Sigh…it’s their natural instinct to hunt.
The circle of life.
The post Th...

Naughty Blondies 25th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
Today was not a good feeding morning for the Blondies. I only managed to get Kai to eat.
That’s Kai.
Managed to coax Samantha to eat much later.
Akira and Indra said, “No, thanks. Who needs to eat?”
After more coaxing and more time, Indra obliged.
Still a “no” from Akira.
But later…
Everyone gobbled up kibble!
The thing with eating kibble is that it makes them put on a lot of weight. It could be due to the fact that kibble has carbohydrates. Akira alrea...

Indy’s Illness 25th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
Indy started having a little bit of runny nose about a week ago and I had already started him on anti-histamines.
Four days ago, he stopped eating. At that time, Cow Mau was still in a critical condition and I didn’t want to leave the house. But I force fed him and have been doing that since then. I added a mucolytic and nebulised him too. It helped a bit, but the runny nose did not go away entirely.
When I took Cow Mau for his 3rd and last laser therapy, I brought Indy along and the vet a...

In Loving Memory Of Cow Mau (an Album Spanning 18 Years) 24th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
It has taken me about a day to sieve through the many thousands of photos and memories of Cow Mau since the day he was rescued from the roadside. And while I was doing it, I paused so many times to recall the particular incident that came with each set of photos.
They are all such wonderful memories! I definitely smiled more than I cried.
Let’s start from the day they were rescued….
The rescue of Cow Mau, Bunny and Pole
They were my first-ever rescues. I noticed them on the wet gras...

Indy To The Vet’s (runny Nose) 24th Mar 2024, by AnimalCare
When I took Cow Mau to the vet’s yesterday, I took Indy along too.
I have been trying to settle Indy’s runny nose for more than a week now. It didn’t seem very serious initially, so I gave him Cetirizine. Then I added Bromhexine and the nebuliser (Ventolin should only be used a maximum of 5 days, then it needs rest during which normal saline nebulising can be done). I had Ventolin-ed him for 4 days. I had been giving him Vetri DMG too.
He would get well, on and off, and the run...
