Wolf Myths That Continue To Threaten Wolves 26th Apr 2016, by AnimalCare
There were once hundreds of thousands of gray wolves in the U.S., but the European settlers persecuted wolves almost to the point of extinction.
Some excerpts:
Do Wolves Attack People?
Wolves are not the human-eating predators they’re portrayed to be in movies and books. You’re more likely to be killed by lightening, an ATV accident or in an elevator than you are to be killed by a wolf.4
There have been only two human deaths due to wild wolf attacks in ...

A report published in the International Journal of Comparative Psychology reviewed cognition, emotion and personality in pigs and revealed they share many traits with animals that are considered to be intelligent.1
Pigs are highly...

Daffodil and Rosie have had theirs.
Then, it’s grooming time. Ginger first.
Then, Rosie.
Daffodil does this after every meal. Every day.
Mother-of-the-Year!
Meanwhile…since the cats have had their yoghurt, here’s a recipe for the humans…

Vincent’s “maintenance” Plan 24th Apr 2016, by AnimalCare
Everything’s been fine with Vincent since his surgery. Apart from the 5 days of sneezing (it has stopped now), he’s as well as can be and is totally back to his old ways. This includes sentry duty at the gate and being “super-manja” to all visitors. His confidence is also back, 100%. Ginger is back to bullying him, unfortunately, but that’s how it is with cats and we humans cannot much about it.
When Vincent was sneezing, it didn’t seem serious enough to war...

BARF News: Detox Or Coincidental? 24th Apr 2016, by AnimalCare
I’m not sure if it’s a detoxing effect or it was just coincidental, but three of our cats had sneezing episodes recently.
I did learn from the supplier, Coco&Joe, that BARF can sometimes initiate detoxification in the animals.
It started with Vincent – he began sneezing, but not badly. But then again, Vincent had his dental surgery so it could also be due to lowered immunity as a result of that?
Then, Ginger started sneezing not long after. Coincidentally again, this was a...

A Baby Owl For A Baby Girl 24th Apr 2016, by AnimalCare
It’s owl season, folks!
Here’s another owl order and this time it’s for a baby girl. For this owl, I used pink flannel.
Handsewn, with help. Do you see Daffodil? She supervises.
The wing-cloth is from Chen Chen, left over from previously sewn blankets. Sihui chose this cloth for the wings since it’s her mum, Mrs Lee, who ordered the owl.
Sewing the eyes.
Done, and baby flannel-pink owl will be flying to Seremban!
Thank you very much, Mrs Lee!

The Power Of Your Fork! 23rd Apr 2016, by AnimalCare
Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. – Mike Pollan
http://strongertogether.coop/food-lifestyle /michael-pollan-three-simple-rules-for-eating/
The last part:
Mostly plants.
Don’t worry. Michael Pollan doesn’t want you to live on lettuce alone. He knows how much you love him, and he wants you to be happy. All he’s saying with his “mostly plants” advice is that we can benefit from eating more plant foods, aka vegetables and fruits and whole grains—you...

A Reply From The CEO Of Farm Fresh (yoghurt News) 22nd Apr 2016, by AnimalCare
As you know, I was hunting around for a quality brand of yoghurt and came across Farm Fresh, which all our humans and cats liked a lot.
My concern about dairy products is on its farming methods, whether there is cruelty involved. So I posted my concerns on Farm Fresh’s Facebook page and was delighted that I received two replies (plus photos) from them!
The CEO, Mr Loi, has very graciously given his consent for me to share his replies and photos.
My first query was about farming metho...
