Cow Is Back To His Old Habits
3rd Jun 2016, by AnimalCare

It’s a relief to see Cow back to his old habits. This is his favourite shelf and after breakfast every morning, he will always rest on this shelf. As for eating the RC SO, I still have to coax him to eat. He is much more willing to eat it now, compared to the first day, but he needs “company” so it helps if Indy and Bunny eat a bit of it with him. I have to offer him the RC SO first, before everyone else, to take him mind off that everyone else is eating a different food. So...

Trust You Dog’s Instincts In Judging Human Character
3rd Jun 2016, by AnimalCare

The full article is here. In other words, dogs are incredibly good judges of character, which probably stems from their keen observation skills and the fact that they’ve lived closely with humans for more than 10,000 years. The ability to pick up on a person’s emotional cues and level of trustworthiness may mean the difference between life and death for a dog, and this is one area in which they excel. Please do read the whole article. It’s extremely informative. And I have f...

Harambe’s Death – Who Is To Blame?
3rd Jun 2016, by AnimalCare

Please read this: http://www.care2.com/causes/who-is-real ly-to-blame-for-the-death-of-harambe-the-gorilla.h tml As long as zoos continue to exist, Harambe’s death is all of our fault. Harambe was a 17-year-old male gorilla born and raised in captivity. He never got to roam the African rainforests where he should have belonged. He never got to eat his meals with other gorillas, climb trees or make nests with leaves they found as a group. He was deprived of all those natura...

No More Bloody Urine! (Cow’s Day 3 Of FLUTD)
2nd Jun 2016, by AnimalCare

The vet was right! There is no need for antibiotics in male animals who have FLUTD because more often than not, it’s not bacterial in nature but idiopathic. A change in diet is the most highly recommended treatment. This morning, there was still mildly blood-stained urine on the floor, but when I went into the room, Cow wanted me to know that he was better, so he came to me and sprayed on my leg – the urine was all clear! Then, he went outside and sprayed some more so that I could s...

Non-Compliant Applications
2nd Jun 2016, by AnimalCare

This is a gentle reminder to all applicants that we are unable to accept non-compliant applications. Each time anyone writes in to apply for our aid (irrespective of how many times the applicant has applied), the policies and procedures are sent and it is stated very clearly that the receipt has to bear the applicant’s full name (as per bank account) and must bear the vet’s signature and clinic stamp. Some weeks back, we received an application whereby the applicant said t...

The link: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeacti on/409/054/769/?z00m=27912696&redirectID=20706 84563 On May 28th, the Cincinnati Zoo killed Harambe, a 17-year-old critically endangered western lowland silverback gorilla. Cow Back To Spraying Again (hooray!)
1st Jun 2016, by AnimalCare

Yes, Cow is back to his spraying habit again and this is GOOD!! Although the urine is still blood-tinged, the fact that he can spray means he is recovering! He tried to pick on Tabs too, and when we stopped him, he took on Tiger. Poor Tiger… Okay, Cow is back in action! After one day of no spraying by Cow and no bullying, Cow is back now. Still blood-tinged but it means his bladder is not blocked and rather than straining to urinate just a few drops at a time, this is quite a bit of ur...

Cow To The Vet’s (FLUTD Day 2)
1st Jun 2016, by AnimalCare

I brought Cow to the vet’s again today, because I cannot trust myself in palpating his lower abdomen to check for blockage. It felt soft, but I wasn’t sure. Last night, I managed to coax Cow to eat some of the RC SO kibble. Just a little bit. I mixed the kibble in with the wet SO. Everyone else is eyeing at the RC SO. Everyone, except Cow. In fact, I had a hard time keeping everyone else away from snatching Cow’s food. Even the PatioCats want to eat it. This morning there ...

Cow Finally Drinks Water (FLUTD)
31st May 2016, by AnimalCare

I’m so totally freaked out that I spent the whole day watching Cow because I’m so worried about his FLUTD. Even though the vet told me in many cases where there is no blockage, the disease might resolve itself through a change in diet (to Royal Canin’s S/O), I’m still worried. I think it hurts me more looking at him straining to urinate and that only a few drops would come out. But Cow seems to be totally okay about it. He’s taking naps in between. Seems as cool as...
