Pet World Day 3 12th Jun 2016, by AnimalCare
All set for Day 3!
We sold 8 of the 9 bags on Days 1 & 2, leaving only this floral bag for today.
This is probably the last batch of tshirts for awhile since the cost of printing has gone up considerably and with the economic downturn, tshirts are not selling well. Moreover, stock-keeping is hard work too and the upfront payment is hefty.
Our volunteer for today is Chun Eng.
The cat competition is on again today.
As usual, so many people flock to the exotic pets section.
Catherina and...

Pet World Day 2 12th Jun 2016, by AnimalCare
Our volunteers for Day 2 were Koo and Toby the Poodle!
Koo is baby-sitting Toby (a former rescue, now adopted). So Toby came along to our booth and spent many hours gracing our booth!
We are directly opposite the Exotic Pets and many people flocked to visit the geckos and tarantulas.
Ooh…I do miss having a dog!
Sweet Toby!
This family came wearing our tshirts! The two children wore the white Faces too!
Toby really served us well – as a mascot!
The cat competition was on...

Vincent Rules! 10th Jun 2016, by AnimalCare
Vincent ate very well this morning and I fed him his antibiotics before leaving for Pet World. Ever since his surgery, he now allows me to open his mouth (this is truly an achievement!). I hope this continues.
While I was away, my family took turns to look after Vincent.
Roaming around the house to stretch his legs.
Playing upstairs.
And he certainly ate and ate!
By the time I came home, I quickly fed him his antibiotics again (it’s twice a day) and he had another meal. And yes, he ate...

Vincent Eats…by Himself!!! 10th Jun 2016, by AnimalCare
As I came downstairs this morning, Vincent looked more cheerful and alert.
I thought perhaps he might be able to eat by himself already. So I put a bowl of Recovery and a small bowl of Monge in his cage.
No, he refused to eat.
Okay then, it’s alright, I will handfeed you.
So I did.
By the way, last night, after sending our stock to Pet World, I came home and handfed him another two more rounds – he ate.
So I handfed Vincent again this morning and we finished quite a bit of Recovery....

Teaching Vincent To Eat Again… 9th Jun 2016, by AnimalCare
By evening, Vincent still refused to eat and I thought perhaps it’s because he fears opening his mouth due to the past pain experience. He also looked very miserable in the cage and kept sleeping.
So I decided to force-feed him gently. I took him out of the cage and placed him on my lap. I started with a gentle massage. Then, I made the wetfood into small balls and plonked it into his mouth. He wasn’t exactly happy about me opening his mouth, but he swallowed the food (a bit of...

“Recovery” For Vincent 9th Jun 2016, by AnimalCare
Last night, Vincent slept like a baby until past midnight. Since he was sleeping so peacefully, I decided not to wake him up.
He finally woke up after midnight and I offered some small-sized Go! kibbles. The vet had said that between wet and dry food, it might be better to eat dry food for the first few days because he did not want any wet food getting stuck in the gum cavities (while healing is taking place). Also, there was no suturing of the gums in Vincent’s surgery. The vet prefers t...

Vincent’s Tooth Extraction (4 Molars And 2 Incisors) 8th Jun 2016, by AnimalCare
I made a judgment call today.
Last night, Vincent had stopped eating all together. It was quite traumatic and very worrying. He came to kitchen wanting to eat, but when I gave him the food, he looked at it and ran away.
It was back to what it was in March…again.
I must have spent at least 3 hours after that, trying all sorts of food to entice him to eat. I could see that he wanted to eat, but he just couldn’t bring himself to open his mouth.
The pain must be so unbearable.
The ment...

Feline Stomatitis Treatment 7th Jun 2016, by AnimalCare
This looks like a reliable website: http://animaldentalspecialist.com/fe line-stomatitis/
FCG-STM is considered to be a chronic, incurable disease; however, there are a variety of treatment options available that may help control symptoms and improve the quality of your pet’s life. Clearly, not all FCG-STM patients are alike. Some patients respond to periodontal treatment, some to antibiotics, some to steroids and antibiotics, some to extractions, and some to nothing at a...
