In Loving Memory Of My Father 24th Jan 2017, by AnimalCare
My father passed away peacefully early Sunday morning.
He was 83 and had certainly led a good long life.
My father taught us through example more than words as he was a man of very few words. He was a fiercely dedicated and loyal government servant who served in the JKR throughout his entire working life.
He was feared (due to his strictness and his zero tolerance for nonsense) yet highly respected and loved by all his subordinates. He helped everyone regardless of race and ...

A Timely Reminder…in Novosibirsk, Siberia 21st Jan 2017, by AnimalCare
The news: https://www.buzzfeed.com/donnad/russian -scientists-build-monument-to-honor-lab-rats?utm_t erm=.ss5j6LoYP#.akkOqvg6Y
We think it should be more of a timely reminder to us not to support any form of animal testing and also to explore alternative ways of testing the efficacy and safety of products. With so much technology and science, surely there are alternative ways which are far more effective and accurate.
Rats are rodents. They are not humans. Hence, the results on rats may no...

Two Giraffe-Hippo Blankets And One Doggy Anxiety Wrap 20th Jan 2017, by AnimalCare
Yoke Mei ordered two Giraffe-Hippo blankets, one as a baby gift. We thank Yoke Mei very much for her kind donation of RM600 to our Neutering Fund!
This is the remaining Giraffe-Hippo cloth donated by Ms Ooi. Ms Ooi bought enough to make FOUR blankets!
Since the cloth comes with big motifs, there is no point in cutting it up. So the patchwork is in the sashing by the sides.
The patchwork sashing is made from remnant cloth that my mum had sewn together. Small pieces measuring 2.5 in by 4...

This evening, Ming-Yi was playing with Cow on her lap and she noticed a blood stain on her pants.
Oh oh, it looked like Cow has an anal sac wound…again.
He had it in Dec 2015: https://myanimalcare.org/2015/12/08/cow s-anal-sac-story/
And Bunny had an anal wound in June 2016: https://myanimalcare.org/2016/06/21/bun nys-anal-wound-and-partial-blindness/
Luckily I was able to refer to the blogposts and could administer first aid immediately.
With some difficulty and much pro...

Dolphins, Sea Turtles And Birds Are Eating Plastic Bags 20th Jan 2017, by AnimalCare
Here’s a petition from Care2 Action Alerts:
As hungry sea turtles glide through the waters around Australia, more and more of them are encountering a new snack. But the problem with this snack is that it’s actually a plastic bag – and it will ultimately kill them. In fact, around one out of every three leatherback turtles has plastic in its stomach right now.
Sign Mehreen’s petition urging the government of New South Wales in Australia to ban plastic bags!
Australians...

Neutering Aid For 1 Cat In Rawang (Norafaiza Bt Khadir’s) 20th Jan 2017, by AnimalCare
We have sponsored RM60 for the spaying of this cat. The cat had dystocia (obstructed labour) and two fetuses had already died in her womb. The operation included a spay. This is one of the risks when street animals are not neutered. Sometimes they encounter serious problems like dystocia and can die on the street if not rescued.
It reminds me of Joanie, the cat we rescued from the roadside after her feeder had noticed her having trouble giving birth for a whole week. Joanie’s case wa...

The news: http://vegnews.com/articles/page.do?pag eId=8017&catId=1
President Barack Obama signed a new law last week that will set unprecedented protections for animals by restricting animal testing and requiring regulators to develop new technology-based alternatives.
