Brown Songkety Foldable Bag 4th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
We thank Agnes’ friend for ordering this brown songkety bag.
These bags are made from the “sample pieces” of cloth that my mum bought sometime ago. Each piece is just enough to make one small bag, so that makes every bag totally unique!
I get a thrill out of being able to maximise the cloth so that wastage is reduced to a barest minimum. See the two squares cut out? I even unpick these and make use of them to extend the handles.
The handles aren’t long enough, so I ex...

Insufficient Postage – The Story Continues… 4th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
Ref: https://myanimalcare.org/2017/02/03/ins ufficient-postage/
For those who might have missed the above post, yesterday, we received a note from Pos Msia saying that there is a mail with insufficient postage waiting for our collection (of course we have to pay a fine for it) at the post depot.
I’ve had quite a few episodes of receiving mails with insufficient postage where the mails would be delivered, stamped “T” and we would have to pay a fine for it. The applicants w...

Puffin’s 32nd Anniversary 3rd Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
Today, “Ren Ri”, the 7th day of Chinese New Year, is the 32nd anniversary of Puffin’s passing. Puffin was my pet dog (since I was 8 years old until 22). He passed away of old age in 1985.
Here’s an excerpt from my book, Pawprints on my Heart:
On the seventh day of Chinese New Year, on Puffin’s fourteenth year, everyone was back home for the holidays. My brother had bathed Puffin in the morning, and we watched him frolicking in the sun, in his usual cheerful ...

Insufficient Postage!! 3rd Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
Here we go again….
I know I sound like a broken tape recorder, but it’s happening again – applicants who don’t put enough stamps in an ordinary post.
Previously, the mail is still delivered, stamped “T”, that means the recipient (poor us) is taxed double for whatever balance of postage is required. And time and again, we keep telling the applicants – please could you put enough stamps on your envelope? And almost always, there is not even an apol...

Hi Yein,

Success…with Ms Poldrey Hepburn And Comrade Zurik 3rd Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
You’d remember that Poldrey and Zurik were the only ones who refused to eat Coco&Joe’s barf per se. I got them to eat my half-cooked-half-raw home-prepared food, but they would turn up their noses and walk away from even a tiny bit of barf. The smell of barf was enough to turn them off completely and they’d rather starve and sit out that meal.
But today….
Success!!
I managed to get Pole to eat half a teaspoon of pure barf! And I managed to a few bit...

Futurism – Meat Without Animals Dying 2nd Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
This is controversial, but do give it a listen and let us know what you think.
Many people want to be vegetarians; they feel sorry for animals dying in slaughterhouses tragically and painfully, but here’s the thing – they simply find it hard to give up the pleasures of the tongue: the taste of meat.
It’s pleasure vs conscience, and very often, pleasure wins, unfortunately.
But here’s a solution to this battle between pleasure and conscience – Futurism: Meat without...

New Cloth For Bags! 2nd Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
My mum acquired some new cloth for bags!
This is very thick cloth and would be suitable to be made into LARGE bags. It can make three large bags or a few medium-sized ones.
This is a set of teddy fabric. It’s been cut to size and each piece can only be made into a really small bag, ie. 9 in by 15 in. Or, I can fashion small bags (13 in by 17 in) out of them by combining different colours. Please do write it to enquire if you like this teddy fabric. The cloth can be sewn into a blanket a...

Back To The Sewing Machine… 1st Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
We have an order of FOURTEEN large bags from Jessy’s cousin!
I sewed three last night. Another 11 to go.
Cloth all cut and ready to go.
By the way, I have personally tested a large bag – it can hold up to 4kg of groceries without any problems at all. The cloth may not be thick, but it is durable! And I do reinforce the handles too.
Jessy’s cousin is a fan of Hello Kitty. How fortuitous it is that we have so much Hello Kitty cloth too!
The supervisor at work.
On these cold ...
