Vincent Eats Too! 22nd Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
When Rosie fell ill, actually Vincent had also skipped some meals. I was worried his stomatitis was coming back…
We had been dutifully giving him his Plague Off on a daily basis for months now and lately, I thought perhaps we could give it on alternate days. Looks like that might have been a bad idea…
So, we quickly went back to a daily dose of the Plague Off.
And this morning, he ate A LOT!
Thanks also to the can of Recovery (which I’m told, is absolutely delicious) f...

Rosie Asks For Food!!!! (Day 6, Morning) 22nd Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
Last night Rosie slept in between our pillows again. She still had no appetite and had to be force-fed.
But this morning, upon waking, she came down the kitchen and asked for food!!
I offered her home-cooked, but she didn’t want it. She looked at the kibble container, so I quickly poured out some kibble for her….
She ate!! She ate!! All by herself.
That’s Heidi with her.
Then, Rosie rubbed on the Monge box.
How smart are they, right?
At your service, madam….at your ...

Rosie’s ALT Reading Has Come Down…a Bit (Day 5) 21st Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
The best news of the day is that Rosie’s ALT (liver) reading has come down from 641 (on Friday) to 409 (taken on Monday, after 4 days). Although the vet hoped it could have gone down further, but this decrease is significant and is good.
The reading would have to come down further in perhaps, another 5 days or so. The normal reading is 80. We have quite a long way to go….
Another liver reading also came down. However, one of the gall bladder readings went up, though not significant...

Insufficient Stamps…again! Put 80 Sen Stamps, Please!!! 21st Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
We have told applicants repeatedly that 60 sen stamps is insufficient, especially if you unknowingly exceed the weight, use coloured envelopes or non-standard sized envelopes, but time and time again, applicants insist on putting only 60 sen stamps.
Save 20 sen? But at the end of the day, you don’t get the RM60 aid. Please….
This application’s receipt is dated 4th Feb 2017, but posted on 15th Feb 2017. It only arrived yesterday (20th Feb 2017), which means, it is alrea...

Rosie’s News (Day 4) 20th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
This morning, Rosie didn’t want to eat by herself again. I had to force-feed her. And she kept whining in the cage too, but I had to go to work.
By the time I got home from work, she had already removed the whole bandage and the catheter in her paw was exposed. Oh no! I quickly put on the e-collar.
She was angry….
Soon, it was time for her appointment.
The vet observed Rosie and remarked that she looked “better” in that she is more active and curious. She jumped up the ...

Rosie Demands To Be Let Out (Day 3) 19th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
Morning breakfast – Rosie was willing to eat a bit on her own. But only a bit.
We moved the cage back outside…
…so that she could get some healing sun.
Ginger was with her.
She slept for only awhile. Most of the time, she was whining. Rosie is a wanderer and doesn’t like to be caged up.
Heidi accompanied her for awhile.
Finally, the racket was too much, so I thought I’d let her “roam” in Bunny’s Room. I locked everyone out in the pantry exc...

Rosie Eats!! (Day 2) 18th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
Rosie was making a racket out at the patio, and we realised why – Zurik was there and she felt very intimidated by him.
So, we moved her cage into the house.
And here’s some good news – Rosie is willing to eat on her own when hand-fed!!!
Look at Ginger….does he not deserve the Brother-of-the-Year award?

Rosie Is Home For The Weekend (Day 2) 18th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
We brought Rosie home for the weekend since the clinic will be closed tomorrow.
The drip was taken off, but the catheter is still intact.
Ginger came immediately to see Rosie and so did Heidi.
Vincent too.
Daffodil was upstairs.
Soon, she came down….
…but she kept her distance.
I think it’s the “smell” problem – Rosie probably has a different smell, so Daffodil is not sure who it is. That’s how it works with cats (and dogs).
Rosie was complaining ...

Visiting Rosie (Day 2) 18th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
We visited Rosie this morning.
She looked very down and that got us worried.
Come on, Rosie. Cheer up!
But soon…
She perked up…
Her complete blood test results was ready last night. The blood results doesn’t tell us much except that the ALT (a liver reading) is high (8 times the normal reading). This indicates a primary liver injury.
There could be a few causes for this “primary liver injury”. It could be a bacterial infection (Doxycycline takes care of this...

Rosie’s Partial Blood Test Results 17th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
We went to visit Rosie this evening.
Rosie is FIV+. That’s something we didn’t know because she had not been tested earlier.
The vet said she has been really good and well-behaved, obediently taking all her medicines and supplements. The vet started her on Doxycycline and will add Baytril this evening. So, two antibiotics.
Rosie is also on many liver supplements.
The vet called the lab while we were there and managed to obtain part of the blood test results. The hem...

Rosie Has Jaundice 17th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
It’s serious.
Rosie started eating less about a month ago. It was so gradual that we thought nothing of it. We also thought that since she wanders and she does eat at the playground daily, maybe she wasn’t hungry. Or, maybe she found food from another house.
But it was intermittent. Sometimes, she would eat. Sometimes, no. We thought she was just being fussy, because she would eat warm food (warmed up on the stove) but not cold food (from the fridge).
This hap...
