Rosie (Day 12, Morning) 1st Mar 2017, by AnimalCare
As expected, Rosie didn’t want Go! Chicken anymore today.
I got up and steamed ikan bilis tembaga (anchovies which are larger than the usual ikan bilis), thinking that the aroma might entice her to eat.
Rosie sniffed at it (ikan bilis tembaga plus home-cooked chicken), wanted to eat, but decided not to.
So I offered Go! Chicken but she didn’t want. I added Nutritional Yeast and Primal – nope. I offered their usual kibble, Iskhan – nope. So I opened Go! Trout (a new flavo...

Rosie (Day 11) 28th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
Rosie ate THREE willing meals today – but all kibble only.
She’s the kibble queen, so I let her eat whatever she wants.
In between, I force-fed some wetfood but only a little bit so that she doesn’t get too angry. The vet did stress that we should not make her angry as that would be detrimental to her recovery.
Rosie urinated on my bed last night. Guess she only uses the litter box if she’s in the cage, so we opened up the bigger cage late last night and put her into it...

Rosie (Day 10) 27th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
It’s already been 10 days now….
Rosie wanted kibble this morning, so kibble it was.
Later, I force-fed her some wetfood together with her medicines and supplements.
Of course she still wants to get out to “ronda”.
By the time I returned home from work in the afternoon, I noticed some vomit in the litter box.
Today’s our appointment at the vet, so off we went.
The vet explained that for liver cases, the condition will fluctuate. Up-down-up-down, one day she might...

Rosie’s News (Day 9) 26th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
Rosie was whining all over the house again, so we decided to let her go to Bunny’s Garden with the hope that she might be happier being on the grass.
She wasn’t happy, she just stared out from the Stargate.
She continued whining and within minutes, wanted to go back to the house. So I carried her back. Oh, I locked Cow, Bunny and Indy in the room while Rosie was in Bunny’s Garden.
Tiger is so happy in the house and you don’t have to close the doors and windows. He won...

Rosie’s Morning (Day 9) 26th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
Nothing much fantastic to report this morning. Rosie looked interested in food, but when offered, she didn’t eat much.
Since cats are finicky/fussy eaters (but wait, I should not use the words “fussy” or “finicky” because that’s just the way cats are and we should not expect them to be otherwise as that would be a practice of anthropomorphising, which is not correct!), I thought I’d offer a variety of food to Rosie and see which she likes.
The myth of t...

My Second Encounter With A Bath Blast 26th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
I was all sweaty after spending hours looking for Rosie so after we found her, I just had to take a bath.
There was a thunderstorm at the time. I knew, but I was careless and proceeded to take a shower.
Within seconds after turning on the shower, there was thunder and in that split second, I saw a spark come out of a hairline gap of the shower and felt a shock in my arm. Automatically, I flung the shower down.
Oh no, another bath blast…again. But this seemed milder than the previous...

Rosie’s Great Escape (Day 8) 25th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
This morning, Rosie ate kibble by herself at about 5.30am. She didn’t want any wet food.
Then, at 7.00am, she went to the kitchen to ask for kibble again. So I gave it to her and she ate…on her own.
That’s a good sign….(I hope).
After that, she started whining all over the house. We thought she wanted to defecate, so we brought the litter box (with OKO Plus) near to her and even put her into it, but she jumped out and continued whining all over the house.
Finally, my h...

Rosie Day 8 (dawn) 25th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
Good morning, dear friends!
Rosie appeared to be very hungry this morning when I let her out of the cage. She rushed to the kitchen.
The fastest food I could offer was kibble and she ate it, voraciously too, but not too much. Then, I offered some wetfood (a combination of canned and home-cooked) – she sniffed at it but didn’t want it. Maybe she’s tired of the food that she had been force-fed!
Now, she’s sitting at the window looking out. I know she wants to go “ro...

Yesterday’s Thunderstorm – Who Was The Hero? 24th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
Yesterday, we had a most terrible thunderstorm.
Of course all the cats were very afraid.
Cow was hiding behind the door.
Bunny was in the corner.
Tiger was under the bench.
Cleo too.
Poldrey as well.
And even our hero, Indy.
So, who was the greatest hero who held the fort?
YES, it was little Tabs.
Tabs was the heroine of the day!

Rosie Day 7 (no Change) 24th Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
Rosie was making a racket today and demanded to be let out of the cage…
So I took the opportunity to train her using the harness.
A few days ago, we tried it and she slipped out of it in a matter of 1-2 seconds.
So, today, we tightened the harness and made sure the leash would be almost vertical all the time.
But Rosie wasn’t happy with it…at all. She refused to budge.
Taking her out also did not work – she refused to budge.
The next best that we could afford woul...

Rosie’s Visit To The Vet (Day 7) 23rd Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
We just returned from the vet’s. First of all, many, many thanks to dear Peggy Tiong for taking Rosie and me all the way to PJ to the vet’s.
Second, there’s so much information to share – I hope I can remember all of them!
What I learnt:
The most important thing for Rosie right now, to help her liver heal is good and quality nutrition and for cats, this translates to good, quality and high protein. The vet suggests egg (yolk and white, cooked) and even fish. And whi...

Rosie’s News – A Setback (Day 6, Evening) 22nd Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
We brought Rosie for a check-up and the intended subcut fluids this evening.
Complaining all the way….
When the vet palpated her liver, it felt more enlarged than Monday (but not as big as Friday). However, this is still a setback. We were really hoping it would be smaller than Monday. But it is not.
We don’t know why. Could it be due to her going out and possibly eating something outside. Or, as the vet discussed at length, it could also be something that I can fed her. Maybe pre...

Rosie’s Afternoon News (Day 6) 22nd Feb 2017, by AnimalCare
Rosie disappeared for the whole morning and that got me worried. But then again, the rest of the cats also slept the whole morning, right after breakfast until almost 1.30pm (remained in the same position, same place). So I gathered Rosie must have been sleeping too.
Finally, at around 1.30pm, I spotted Rosie under my car in the porch.
Thank goodness! She is back.
I offered some food, but she wasn’t interested. Ordinarily, Rosie is a small eater. She eats frequently, but cannot eat ...
