Rosie Eats Wetfood (Day 15)

After her first breakfast of Go! kibble and dry Primal this morning at 5.30am, Rosie went back upstairs to sleep with my husband.
Then, just now, at about 8am, she came down with him and went to the kitchen to ask for food again.
So, I quickly gave her the Go! that she likes – Trout. And sneaked in some Primal.
But Rosie kept nudging at the Monge box. She has done this before many times, but when I offered wetfood, she would just sniff at it, look at me and walk away.

Rosie’s Dawn (Day 15)

Yesterday, even though the blood test results gave us a little bit of hope, Rosie’s condition didn’t seem good. She seemed miserable the whole day, sleeping at the corner of the living room for hours on end.

A Set Of Denim Bags (fundraising)

One of our very regular anonymous donors asked if we could sew a set of denim bags made from his old jeans. He very thoughtfully cut a few of his old jeans and sent the cloth to us.
Well, only my mum’s trusty old (literally OLD) iron-cast sewing machine can sew denim cloth, so my mum patched the jeans and sewed these:

Rosie’s Blood Test Results (Day 14)

When I received a photo of the blood results this afternoon, I could feel my hand shaking as I downloaded the image and clicked to open it.
Then I compared the numbers with the previous ones….
Yes…there is an improvement in the liver readings.
But yes, it’s not time to celebrate yet.
ALT: From 640 to 409 to 261 now.
AST: From 284 to 219 to 134 now.
But these went up:
Alkaline Phosphatase: From 131 to 177 to 191 now.
Bilirubin: From 205 to 210 to 217 now.

Rosie (Day 14)

We let Rosie roam freely in the house last night (instead of putting her into the cage). We had to close all the downstairs windows and sleep with our bedroom doors closed.
This morning, when I woke up, Rosie came all the way up the stairs to greet me. Then she followed me down and went to the kitchen, excitedly waiting for food.
The “improvement” today is that she was willing to eat dry Primal with her Go! kibble.
Still unwilling to eat wetfood.

Rosie’s PCV Dropped (Day 13) – Not Good

It’s not good news.
Rosie’s PCV (packed cell volume) dropped from 51% (17th Feb) to 27% today (2nd March). This means her liver isn’t making blood. The borderline for normal is 28%.
Update: Rosie’s other vet’s opinion on the PCV. 51% shows dehydration on 17th Feb. For normal cats, it should be around 35% or so. Blood is made by the bone marrow, kidneys and liver. Suggests to test the PCV every 2 days to see if there is a drop. A drop in the PCV could be ...

Rosie’s Morning And Last Night’s Supper (Day 13)

Rosie didn’t have a good day yesterday. I’d like to think it was due to the fact that she hadn’t defecated in a few days and that she was given the Lactulose. But finally, thank goodness, she did defecate by late afternoon.
However, she didn’t want food and had to be force-fed, even after defecating.

Rosie’s Afternoon (Day 12)

Rosie had not defecated for a few days now. I didn’t want her to rely on Lactulose, but it looks like we have no choice, so I gave her 5ml this morning.
According to Jia-Wen (who was home), she was very quiet the whole morning.
When I got back, she was fast asleep.
Soon, I let her out and finally, she went to the litter box (the one with the OKO Plus) and started scratching.
