Ginger’s Visit To Bunny’s Place 15th Apr 2017, by AnimalCare
Ginger thinks that Bunny’s Place is paradise and he often looks longingly right outside the grille. So since I was doing work all morning inside, I thought I would let him in for a tour.
Wow!! There are toys and beds in here.
Tabs was asleep at the time.
Ginger explored around the room, then ventured out.
Oh, oh…
Cleo is the new boss in Bunny’s Place. Wait, let me put that more accurate, Cleo is the new CEO. She might not be the biggest boss, but she is the Chief Executiv...

Comfort From The PatioCats 3rd Apr 2017, by AnimalCare
Daffodil started grooming Ginger again…a lot.
I sense Daffodil is grieving. She came to look at me many times.
I know. It’s okay, Daffodil, Rosie is no longer sick now.
Tiger and Vincent, sitting with me on the sofa.
Vincent is especially concerned. Bless his kind heart.
Mr Zurik is still up to his mischief, but I have no doubt he too knows.
Animals have the purest hearts. They may be mischievous, but there is no evil in them.
At the vet’s, there’s this signboard th...

The Changing Of The Guard 3rd Apr 2017, by AnimalCare
Indy used to be the chief guard at Bunny’s Place.
But now, it’s Cleo.
Yes, Cleo takes up all the fights now. She would be the one on the ledge, fighting off all intruders. Indy seems to have taken a back seat now.
We don’t know why, though. It’s not age, because Cleo is 10 while Indy is 9. Cleo is now the defender at Bunny’s Place.
Hail Cleo!
Yups, make no mistake about it. This little baby-faced girl is a force to be reckoned with.
Cow and Indy are the sec...

The Empty Tray 3rd Apr 2017, by AnimalCare
I still have tubs of home-cooked food which I had specially made for Rosie. Rosie loved chicken with carrot, and I had fortified her special food with liver too (for her anaemia). It will take some time to use up this food for the cats as I would need to mix it with their regular food.
There are the five stages of grief – denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. They do not necessarily occur in a linear fashion. They are tools that help us identify with what we are feeling. I...

A Baby Blanket Of Little Giraffes 3rd Apr 2017, by AnimalCare
Our cats ordered this blanket for a kind rescuer-friend who recently welcomed a newborn into the world. Our 12 cats made a donation to our Neutering Fund for this blanket.
The cloth is donated by Ms Ooi and since the motifs are so beautiful, I just quilted the piece together.
If you’d like any blanket or bag made from this fabric, we still have quite a bit. In fact, a reader has ordered a bag to be made from this fabric too.
The front
The back
It’s very beautiful cotton, so a bl...

WHO Fought With Cow Last Night? 3rd Apr 2017, by AnimalCare
We went out for dinner last night and when we came home, we found splatters of blood all over the floor in Bunny’s Room. They were very tiny droplets and had already dried up.
Jia-Wen immediately checked the cats and found that Cow was the only one with injuries. Bunny and Indy didn’t have a single scratch on them.
Of course, Cow being Cow, he was still walking around as though nothing had happened (if you’ve been following Cow’s stories right from the time he was young,...

The New Cat Beds And The Equilibrium 1st Apr 2017, by AnimalCare
The old equilibrium is being restored…by itself.
We went out this afternoon and came back to this!
We put this purple bed out in the living room last week to see which PatioCat would want it. No one claimed it until now.
Ginger is back in his orange basket.
Tiger definitely does better in “the rest of the house”. Inside Bunny’s Place, I think he feels too stressed and perhaps this contributes to his epileptic attacks.
But this afternoon, Tiger really gave me a s...

New Toys For The Cats 1st Apr 2017, by AnimalCare
Last week, Jia-Wen and Sihui went to Bangkok and they bought new beds for the cats.
Look at that tiny little kitten bed!
Who can fit? Make a guess, then look at the next post.
Knowing fully well that the Cows will monopolise all beds, Tabs got these two mats – the Lion and the Piggy.
Indy is okay with the old wooden chair.
This is the old bed from Bangkok.
Now, please see the next post…

Early Morning 1st Apr 2017, by AnimalCare
I slept at 9pm last night. I was so, so tired.
First thing this morning, I checked my messages and James had sent Rosie’s cremation photos last night.
So yes, another round of crying.
Previously, I’ve never requested for photos as I think it would be too painful. I trust James completely to do an honest and compassionate job. After all, it has been so many years and he has taken care of the final rites of all our pets. Vixey was the first. We could witness Vixey&rs...

Till We Meet Again, Rosie 31st Mar 2017, by AnimalCare
Last night, my husband and I slept in the living room. I slept on the sofa, and in the middle of the night, I felt footsteps beside my head. It was exactly the way Rosie would step when she came to sleep in between our pillows. I opened my eyes and there was no one. I thought it was Heidi but it wasn’t.
I stayed up till very late last night. Ginger and Heidi kept me company.
Sweet Ginger.
And sweet Heidi.
I think Daffodil knows what is happening. She went a little cranky last night, dar...

Rosie’s Final Hours 30th Mar 2017, by AnimalCare
Rosie was happy until the very end.
Despite her illness which was progressively getting worse, she remained steadfast throughout. She was alert, curious, reasonably active and was eating very well. Watching tv too. Every night. In fact, her appetite improved a lot in the last few days and I felt very encouraged. But her abdomen was swelling every day and that was a bad sign. It was worrisome. I didn’t have the heart to take photos which showed how bloated her abdomen had become.
This afte...

Our family thank all our friends who have offered support, prayers and kind wishes throughout Rosie’s illness.
Rosie fought a very brave battle and we are very proud of her.
Run free at Rainbow Bridge, dearest Rosie Posie!
We will meet again.
