The Sound Of Silence (Misty And Gerald Return)

I woke up this morning to the peaceful sound of silence with only the distant chirping of birds.
No cat woke me up. I woke up by myself.
For 18 days, ever since I decided to bring in Gerald and Misty because of the reptilian encounter that night, Gerald’s incessant loud whining was the most difficult problem to resolve.

Now, The Two Best Friends Are Back Outside

I think Gerald came back to get Misty.
He was whining in the porch, probably calling for Misty. So I opened the door, let him in, and I carried him with the hope that he would keep quiet, but he was restless and wanted to go back into Bunny’s Place.
So I let him in and Misty was overjoyed to see him. She jumped down from the top-of-the-world platform and they had a happy reunion. Misty was grooming him from head to paws.

The Whiner Is Back

It didn’t take long…
Gerald came back whining in the porch and it’s 10.30pm now. I had to stop the whining.
So, he’s back with me in the house now. Shh…..please, Gerald.
Tentatively, if he behaves and doesn’t whine incessantly, he can stay, but if it gets too much, I’ll just have to release him for awhile until he comes back.
That would be the plan for now.

Gerald Goes Back Out

The whining has been unbearable. And it’s in the dead of the night until the wee hours of morning.
Nobody has any peace at all. We cannot sleep. All the other cats are also awakened by the constant nonstop loud and shrill whining.
It’s just a matter of time before the neighbours lodge a complaint and that itself could endanger the safety of all our other cats.

We brought in our portable serai plant for Tabs to eat, but Kai and Indra quickly surrounded the pot.
What are you, Kai? Guardian of the pot?

A New Big Den And A Cat Tree For The Monsters!

As you probably know, the Monsters have since destroyed every cat tree that I’ve bought for them, even the more solid and expensive ones.
So I ordered a stainless steel cat tree from Golden Triology and it arrived today!
This is the new cat tree, which is supposed to be super solid, but our Monsters are more solid…haha, so if you notice some of the platforms have tilted, but no fear, Tony will come on Thursday to put in reinforcements. I trust Tony knows what to do.

Making Bone Broth For Everyone

I had not made bone broth for the cats for a long time now because we had CKD cats and it wasn’t suitable for them.
I decided to make one batch yesterday to see if our newer cats would like it.
Ingredients:
– Chicken carcass
– Water
– Apple cider vinegar
Instructions: Slow boil for about 24 hours.

Gerald Incessant Whining Restarts

After two days of “moderate” whining, Gerald decided to restart on High mode….at 2.45am this morning.
This is why I’m up and writing this blogpost now.
I was fast asleep after a really tiring day yesterday and for no apparent reason (or a reason unknown to me), Gerald started whining at 2.45am. Gerald, The Alpha

My vet-friend suggested that perhaps Gerald is whiny because he’s an alpha cat. I did not think so initially, but now I think she may be right.
One of the first things Gerald did when I took him in was to “leave his mark” (by peeing) into every litter box he could find, and this includes Tabs’ litter box in the downstairs bathroom.
And I see him peeing into every litter box in Bunny’s Pantry too, much, I’m sure, to the disappointment of the Blondies.

The Monsters And A Pinch Of Greens

I added a teeny weeny pinch of greens powder into the Monsters’ raw food this morning (already laced with pre-probiotics and fish oil) and nobody complained!
Semua sapu habis!
Can’t say the same for the Blondies because getting them to eat is already a huge challenge every day.

I only managed to get Kai to eat this morning. The rest weren’t interested in food.
But when I say “eat”, I mean raw food.
Only Kai ate.
Samantha and Indra barely ate. Sure, they look like they are eating in the photo, but it’s more like licking a bit and running away to play.

Our Portable Serai Plant

Friends have helped me check websites and most of them lists lemongrass (serai) as one of the plants that deter snakes. However, this may not be applicable to our Malaysian species because another friend told me that snakes were found coiled around her serai plants.
In any case, I have always failed to plant lemongrass on the ground. While it grows like a weed elsewhere, all of mine have died so far, probably because the male cats spray on them too.

Gerald Starts Whining Again After A Day’s Rest

The whining has started again today.
I wonder if it’s because he whined nonstop for two days earlier, so he needed a day to rest his voice, and he has restarted it today.
First thing in the morning, Rey had already climbed up to the top to irritate the Blondies. I can never be fast enough to take a photo of him clawing his way right to the top from his side of the gate because he’s faster than me.

Updates On Grey (from Lee Soo Farng)

Some updates from yesterday:
Soo Farng managed to express some urine and faeces!
Grey gets healing morning sunshine every day.
The physiotherapist says the chances of Grey walking again are good though the incontinence may persist. But now, Soo Farng knows how to express Grey’s urine, so this would help very much.
Little by little is the water jug filled. Slowly and steadily, we will get there.
