Daffodil’s Midnight Snacks 30th Jun 2017, by AnimalCare
Daffodil tends to get hungry late at night.
Here are some photos taken last night, between 11pm and 1am.
A midnight snack, with Heidi waiting for scraps.
With Ginger, supervising my sewing.
When Daffodil gets a snack, everyone gets one too.
Another snack.
Well, Daffodil can only eat very little at a time, so when she wants to eat, I give.
This morning’s picture.
I really hope she will gain back some weight.

Tiger And Daffodil To The Vet’s 30th Jun 2017, by AnimalCare
I was worried about Tiger’s fits recurring, so I texted Tiger’s sporo vet to discuss. He said to check Tiger for diabetes and he introduced me to another vet who has the facilities to check for this by using the glucometer instead of the more invasive blood test.
So I called this vet and was so pleasantly surprised that he had so much time to discuss Tiger’s ailment on the phone. He asked me many questions about Tiger and it was his opinion that Tiger is probably not dia...

Reducing The Risk Of Cancer In Our Pets 29th Jun 2017, by AnimalCare
The video: https://www.facebook.com/PlanetPaws.ca /videos/1560732177334992/
However, dogs may be omnivorous but cats are obligate carnivores. There have been numerous research findings on the proportion of meat:vege ratio for dog and cat food. On the average, 60% meat and 40% vege may be appropriate for dogs while for cats, it is usually suggested that the proportion be 95% meat and 5% vege.
More and more, it is highly recommended that kibble be avoided. The reasons are many: (1) We will n...

Daffodil’s Way 29th Jun 2017, by AnimalCare
Frank Sinatra’s evergreen and ever-meaningful song, “My Way”, resonates well with Daffodil and how we have decided to let the dowager empress decide what she wants (within reasonable boundaries which does not include going out of the house compound) and not interfere too much with her peace.
On certain days, she spends most of the time upstairs on the bed.
During the last few days, she has been coming downstairs a lot, which is all good. She has made no attempt to escape. What...

Dexter was 20 years old when he was adopted. The family went to the shelter to look for a kitten, but decided to take Dexter home instead (despite knowing that he didn’t have much time left).
Watch this wonderful video: https://www.facebook.com/iizcat/videos /1532719496794923/
Kudos to no-kill shelters that accept senior animals and allow them to live out their natural lives.
Kudos to adopters of senior animals!

Tiger’s Hyperesthesia 27th Jun 2017, by AnimalCare
Tiger’s hyperesthesia came back a few months ago. He was free from seizures for a few weeks after the August 2016 to October 2016 episodes.
It was Prochloroperazine that seemed to work last time. This is a very mild motion sickness medicine for humans. But now, it doesn’t work anymore.
We’ve also tried acupuncture, but it didn’t work at all.
Instead of resorting to any potentially toxic drugs, which I’m told, may or may not work, or, may make it even worse, we...
